Not exactly sure how it's written in five, but it looks like a copy paste of 4. The rating of the colony is how many systems it can sustain. In 4th they dn't generate nanites they just keep them sustained. You had to buy your systems seperate, the colony was just there to keep them from degrading.

Being able to switch say, O-Cells over to a Lymbic Stimulator doesnt really makes sense, just sounds like cheese to me.

Each hard-nanohive supports only 1 colony equal to it's rating.

It does however seem to have 1 blueprint/level.

Therefore a Hard-nanohive [3] can support 1 colony of level 3 that can morph into any of the three hard nanites the hive has a blueprint for.
