Showtime!
Before bnc enters the host, she takes a moment to customize her icon to blend into the Lonestar host. Instead of the macabre and bizarre semi-robot that was usually her icon, she loaded what older generations called an UML icon: a simple, nondescriptive humanoid form of polished gray. The dullness of it anooyed bnc, but not enough to take out the thrill of breaking into a Lonestar host.
Secretevily, she opened the gateway to enter the commercial host. She almost ran into the patrol ice. Not by skill, but my mere luck, she was saved from instant recognition: The IC got distracted by an icon entering the host and examined just a split-second to long. Already, bnc had changed her location and modified the appearance of her icon. The she approached the icon she had seen being marked before and took a very close look at it.

Booyah! I was alraedy complaining that I never meet IC ;-)
I've loaded my standard stealth default configuration.

Sneaking: 13d6t5 2
crap. I'm using Edge to re-roll the failed ones:
Sneaking: 11d6t5 5
Whew, that went better.

Oh crap, I forgot to subtract 2 dice for running silent. So in total it's only 6 instead of 7 hits. Still, I evaded. Or do I get the 2 bonus dice from running hot sim? If so, it's back to 7 ^^

Matrix Ini: Matrix INI: 4d6+10 24

I take a closer look at the icon of the sensor:
Ini phase 24: Complex Action Perception: Matrix perception: 13d6t5 4
please give me following information:
  • most recent edit date
  • presence of a data bomb
  • the last Matrix action performed + date
  • marks on the icon

Well, if they aren't incoming, then there isn't a reason to get wet.

Slobbertooth headed over to a nearby chair, placed his Ruger on the table, along with one of his speedloaders carrying APDS rounds. He began deliberately removing the Gel rounds from the Super Warhawk, and replacing them with the APDS rounds from the speedloader.

He looked up and saw Krestov sleeping soundly. "Poor little guy. Must be all tuckered out from chasing bnc around."

Equipment carried for this part of the run,
Custom Ruger Super Warhawk now loaded w/APDS
1 Smoke Grenade
4 Speedloaders (now 2 w/ gel, 1 w/ APDS, 1 w/ Hollow Point)

Helmet, Armor Jacket

Running silent doesn't reduce your defense pool and yes, you get your hotsim bonus too.
No Databomb
Since Sensors are continuously editing their files the last edit is about a millisecond before you looked. But a foreign edit was made just before you noticed the MARK.
It was a copy action
At the moment there is only your MARK and that the invited one from Wilcox.

Matrix perception is a simple action by the way. So you could look for something else inside the host, too

A quick check showed bnc that someone had tapped into the sensors and made a copy of the last half hour - incidentally the whole conversation with Wilcox.

Dressed to the nines (or at least relatively so for him), Krestov had remained silent for the trip over, only engaging in small talk.  This was, after all, Slobbertooth's mission, and he had nothing to add to it.

The same was said during the meet up with the detective.  Krestov gave a respectful nod before standing near the back, hands held behind his back as he listened.

"KE and Lomestar have...edgy relationship."  was the only enlightenment that he offered to his team as to the reason for his actions.

Once along, he let their hacker follow up on their leads, remaining attentive and alert, his muscles coiled springs ready to strike...

"Verfickte Scheiße! Merde! I'm too late."

When has this been edited? According to the CRB, it's a Complex Action (p241)

Although it's too late, there's no use not doing this:
phase 14: Hacking on the Fly: 19d6t5 8
phase   4: Edit File: 17d6t5 6

This is on the assumption that there is absolutely no way that I could anyhow trace the icon the performed the change.

Oh, wait, I mixed that one up with every other perception check in the book  ::) :-[

You successfully edit the file, but you realize that you now have to stay here to do that every three seconds while the sensors keep recording you and the team.

Also the same file has a copy somewhere in the host.

Round two: Matrix Ini: 13+4d6 25
Matrix Perception: 10d6t5 3

bnc successfully got to the sensor's file storage and disengaged the alteration protection.

Well, I think it's sensible. A matrix perception is more like a close investigation. To be honest, I think it should be an Extended action if you take a closer look at what you acutally do.

I deleted the records at least. But you're right, I have to do it again later.

Sneaking: 15d6t5 5
I'll take care of the other file later and leave the host.

As bnc awakens, she's in a bad mood.
"I'm sorry, boys. I was late. Somebody already copied the file. I will delete this system's file when we leave in order to avoid further traces, but I'm afraid the whole conversation has been recorded, observed in copied.
I'm ... I'm sorry, truly. I failed.

Slob sighed in frustration, and shook his head, but still patted bnc on the shoulder with his big meaty paws. There was no point in worry about it now.

"Probably best if you delete the recording of you saying you know we were recorded." Slobbertooth's frown turned into a grin. This setback was actually a potential opportunity. "When you're editing, leave this in, though. Try to make it look like a mistake by leaving some other innocuous stuff in there."

Slobbertooth focused and tried to be very mater of fact and deliberate as he addressed the team. "We've been up all night, everyone sleep in. We'll head back home after we have breakfast. Probably best if we take a day to prepare ourselves and make sure we have all of our equipment. We'll need to get someone to look after our house.

In a couple of days we'll go see that dwarf out in the barrens and try to assense the old home. See what else he remembers."

Torrent was in a foul  mood.He would have to stay up all night to maintain his disguise but what was worse was that he'd have to stay awake inside the  most boring house he'd ever set foot in.
Never met an interesting cop.Even investigators never used their imagination outside their job.

Naturally, his thoughts drifted to the killer.

@team : << Either Scary got sloppy or someone keeps an eye on Wilcox. Our visit was anticipated.Maybe our pirate has a tech-savvy partner.>>

"Hai, sempai", she says in a somewhat depressed voice. She knew that it wasn't actually her fault. The deed was done before she could have possibly intervened. Yet it would have been her task to observe the sensors and prevent this from happening. Data security was her job, and she completely messed up.

bnc is not a person to easily cast away self-consciousness. It's going to eat her up. But she's good at pushing uneasy thoughts aside. So she focusses on the task Slobbertooth had given her. Almost frantically, bnc attacked the programs of her cyberdeck to create a realistic, yet false conversation. She uses all her fantasy to add some innocuous details. Once she is done, she once again faces the Lonestar host to exchange the file with the one she created.

While working, I laod Fly on a Wall to keep the OS low.
I don't know what to roll for to create the fake recording, but I guess that'll do:
Computer: 17d6t5 7 (still inside her mental limit)
Edit File: 17d6t5 6
After that, I reboot my deck since there won't be a lot I can do today.

"Or else, Scary informed somebody. Not that I think he did, just wanna mention the possibility. If we don't allow Scary to be the one who let the information out, Wilcox must be watched."

Are there any drones out there with marks looking like the ravens I saw?

No drones with that MARK within 100m
The fake recording is in place

Without the immediate threat the team slowly turned to sleep again. The alarm was set, so they had plenty of time to get the first ferry of the day or the storm - whichever came first.

It was five o'clock when the foodprocessor awoke them with the smell of freshly brewed soykaf. Wilcox seemed to have awoken since the team could hear the shower running.
The team could slink away or use the opportunity to talk to him before they went away.

Slobbertooth inserted a standard and gold credstick into his commlink, and transferred 100 Nuyen into it. He put it next to the soykaf machine and headed out the door.

"I'm heading to see Phil Rainier before these ferries shut down again."

"Wait! I think we should talk to Willey first. If we're suspecting that he's been under surveillance for quite a time, and we assume that he's a clever and paranoid bastard, shouldn't we at least try to find out whether he has already noticed something some day or has any suspects our anything?"

And shouldn't we warn him? I'm still not sure whether I have fully arrived in the business.

"He's the one who mentioned that our faces were archived in the first place. He's aware that he's being watched. He's an ex-lone star cop, in a secluded island retirement home. Lone-star probably installed the cameras themselves.

"You can stay if you want to talk to him about it. We took multiple vehicles to get here."

With that, he was out the door.

Jeez, he can be a prick sometimes.

bnc feels terrible. First she screwed up the data security biz and she doesn't have the feeling that she was able to mend anything. Now again, the main character of the theme discarded her idea. And, in bnc's case, this means herself. The thrill of this new adventure begins to wear off. Self-consciousness, being turned down and a bad night merged to a viscious circle of rumination that begins to turn down bnc.
She crawls back to her bed and draws the blanket over her face.
