There were a few pre-awakening magical artifact you've heard of. It might be one of them, but you've heard a few stories about artifacts that don't have any significant powers - just a magical aura. Most of them are remains of 'atlantis' age enchantments. And they are prized as both rare antiques, and for magical research. And if you count stories and gossip circulating in the Awakened community, there items that hide ancient secrets...

He's an expert in ancient magic, and a true brit. You have his adress.

Aren't the Black Man linked to the Providence Corporation?
Intuition(5) + Underground Politics(4): 9d6.hits(5)=3
No. Providence Corp. is a part of the liberal wing of the Catholic Church. One of it's biggest assets, to be honest. There is even a division that earned the name of 'revisionists'. You know next to nothing about the Black Men. They're the latest media 'pet mystery'. Your bet would be on some multinational group that sponsored their relocation.

Yani switches to VR, accessing his biological node.

Compiling Rating 6 Data sprite with optional CF's Analyze and Scan: (I know, right? I really need this guy. lol)

Compiling 5 + Resonance 6 + Hot sim bonus 2 - 1 for being drunk = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [4,1,5,6,4,1,2,5,6,3,6,5] = 6 hits.

vs

Sprite's rating = 6 dice, 6d6.hits(5) → [3,2,2,4,2,2] = 0 hits.

Fading DV = ... huh... that's strange there is no minimum fade listed in the book like there is for Spirits. guess there's no fading for this sprite since he had no hits on the opposed test.

Rating 6 Data sprite compiled with 6 tasks owed. And why didn't I do this before? Well... I got really lucky with that roll... this time... hehe

Yani asks the Data sprite to cross reference the following terms: (I'll do the rolls for the data sprite. Lemme know if that's not kosher, Kot)

Black Men, and Religion:  Data Search 6 + Browse 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [6,4,2,6,2,1,2,4,5,3,4,2] = 3 hits.
Black Men, Evo, and Terrorism: Data Search 6 + Browse 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [2,2,6,2,4,2,4,1,3,6,3,2] = 2 hits.
Uncle Good Advice, and The Vory: Data Search 6 + Browse 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [6,1,2,6,1,3,2,4,6,4,1,5] = 4 hits.
Teatime, and Magic: Data Search 6 + Browse 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [4,6,4,4,6,6,2,2,2,5,6,6] = 6 hits.
Uncle Good Advice, and Black Men: Data Search 6 + Browse 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [1,2,2,5,3,1,6,6,1,1,5,3] = 4 hits.

So, that was just constant use of one power, but the parameters were different every time. I'd say that the Data Sprite has 1 task left, but if all that counts as 1 task, then he has 5 tasks left.

Roll for Fading DV 2S. I'll treat it just like Summoning (which it mechanically is). And as your description was interesting, you can buy hits, if the DP is 8+.
Those were six different tests, so six uses of the Browse 'power'. One service left.

Quote
Black Men+Religion: Possible ties to the National Polish Catholic Church, whis is one of the biggest bastions of Humanis in Poland and TriCity. Nothing confirmed, but it's probable they are connected.

Quote
Black Men+Evo+Terrorism: They're one of the groups suspected, but most safe bets are on a shadowrun gone south, or someone framing runners for a corporate hit. Evo seems strangely quiet about the Black Men.

Quote
Uncle Good Advice+Vory: Confirmed rumors about him taking part in negotiations between the Vory and three factions that want to talk with them. Seems like Yakuza doesn't have any quarrel with them. The Syndykat was hostile, but they seem to consider a truce, as their hostility was war-related, and they don't have much business conflicts.

Quote
Teatime+Magic: Adam 'Teatime' Campbell is a magical consultant, and a part-time tutor and talismonger. He's a renowned expert on ancient magics. He emigrated from England, because of some troubles there. He is a classy guy and talented mage, though. Sharp, educated and a great linguist, he doesn't have many friends, but most people in the magic business want to know him. Doesn't seem to have enemies, though most Awakened acquaintances see him as odd.

Yani puts the code sprite with one task on standby.

His fading DP is 12 dice (Resonance 6 + Charisma 6), so I'll choose your buying dice option on that.

Yani mentally transfers that data to a data stick, so he can use it later... and now. :)

Evo and National Polish Catholic Church(Threshold 1, so it's a Critical Success):
Evo is the metahuman-friendly corporation, with Russian headquarters and Japanese roots. No way in hell any NPCC figure would get involved with 'the devil'. You've found some leads though, as the data sprite hands you a shred of an unidentified file it found in the Matrix somwhere. There is a speculative chat in a public room, that was logged, before the node mysteriously crashed for no obvious reason. Somebody saved the log, and pasted it to a few random sites. It contains an interesting speculation - what if the whole deal was a set-up from the start? Evo was supposedly a few months behind shedule because of material problems - the provider was one of their own sub-companies, and there was a case of lowered quality goods causing several new blocks in New Delhi fall apart, burying six thousand people. There is no official body count yet, and the first inspector on-site had a nasty accident with a bulldozer drone after he sent his initial conclusion - poor material quality caused significant structural weakness. A news reporter stating that the whole block was overpopulated - beyong 300%, and he disappeared. Also, the logistics director for the supply section of WaveCrest company that is the biggest shareholder of the new port was reassigned to Romania.
And roll Resonance+Stealth please. The usual Stealth mods apply.

P.S. I'm unavailable for the next 24+ hours. Going back home. And it seems I'll be back again soon, there are two more camps to go. :)

The Data Sprite's stealth roll is not very good. He doesn't have stealth, so he fails.

Yani's Stealth Roll: Resonance 6 + Stealth 6 - Slightly Drunk 1 = 11 dice, 11d6.hits(5) → [4,3,3,4,5,1,3,6,3,3,3] = 2 hits.

Local Area Knowledge: This is a Humanis bastion. If you're looking for those Black Men, their hideouts could be anywhere. But as you browse your notes, you find a few shreds of info about one hum' 'purifier' group that was supposedly killed by a kiddie biker gang, and eaten by ghouls afterwards. The ghouls went deep underground after that, as someone started to hunt them. Also, the place it happened - Little Silesia, which was called Jasień before the refugees from Śląsk dominated it. Populated by a more metahuman-heavy (mostly dwarves, orks and trolls) society of SINless and outcasts, Little Silesia is one of the most favorite hunting grounds for racist gangs of Morena. To the point where the border between the two neighborhoods is a strip of mostly burned-out ruins... There was also something about those kid-gangers that caught your attention, but you seem to have forgotten what it was.
Wait. Yeah. They were investigating the recent disappearances of locals, and managed to track down a black magician, who was abducting them. You remember it was some hoodoo-elf, who used people as spirit vessels. The kids were popular enough to get a nice job offer afterwards, and a lot of attention from the people of east-side Silesia...

Yani: There was a slight flicker of AR displays in the bar's node as you left. The bartender gave you a long look, but your expression seemed to be enough for him. But that wasn't the biggest problem. Something huge plowed through the bar node. It swallowed every IC, leaving only shattered glass-like leftovers of various bottle-label characters that served as Agents and IC in this place. Then it snatched your sprite, turning it into pixelated shreds in a matter of microseconds. It circled the node, probing everything with it's huge tentacle-whiskers, before it left the node, almost crashing it. You were left untouched, as the huge Black IC failed to notice you entirely...

P.S. The map is here, if anyone was wondering.

Hey guys, I think Kot has given us enough info to choose to do something. So far we heard Teatime lives in a high-security with a human-only smuggling route in the north.

Choices that I know of:
1) Smuggle everyone in to Teatime's hood through the north risking a possible clash in Morena. In this case, I think we need smuggling transit, not a cab, as far as I can tell.
2) Find a safehouse, stash non-human characters there, and the humans can go with all their equipment to Teatime's through the smuggling route in the north.
3) Find a safehouse, stash illegal equipment (Forbidden) or anything without a license and then go to Teatime's together in a cab.

Those are the three options I know of. I vote 1 or 3 since that keeps the group together in both cases. In my opinion, number 3 would be easiest option. I don't think we need all our gear to visit a high-security neighborhood, but I could be wrong. I also think that if we chose option one, there is a chance that the smuggling transit would have to ditch us in a high-security neighborhood with illegal gear... that could get nasty. It would also be good to establish a safe-house so we have a place to go if the shit hits the fan.

Anything I miss?

More or less what I suggested in IC
my vote is for 3, but since we do not have a safe house, and we might not want to go looking for one right now we might as well drop the stuff in the safeboxes in some mall or at my place. (though I don't know how safe it would be, never stored there anything of greater value0

Whisky Barrel has a secure stash, but the prices are exorbitant. Over 250 NY per hour, plus a deposit of 500+ NY if hot (illegal) stuff is involved. CW's place isn't exactly Fort Knox, but nobody ever tried to break in before. Mages with his kind of history and connections tend to be avoided by burglars.

One reason Bat'Oni was being patient in the bar, but stashing at CW's is fine with her.

As Joe wrote - I assume you have a small InfoNet. Everything you find, you share, unless it's stated that you don't. This worked wonders on my last few games at the camp. Especially for the Dronomancer's efforts.
