Just gonna do a Matrix Perception check in AR while accessing the restaurant's public node, looking for hidden access to weapon systems or secured nodes. If the restaurant has a VIP list, that would be interesting, as would a blacklisted customers file, but Yani is not trying to take over the restaurant or burn anyone's steak dinner, he is just trying to get a feel for how secure this place is. If there is a list of current customers available, he'd probably scan over it looking for Teatime or Uncle Good Advice (the only 2 people he knows in this city). Of course, if there are hidden nodes, this test would not reveal them, but it would reveal hidden access to some, depending on the hits I generate.

Computing 5 + Analyze 6 + 2 Technomancer Bonus - 2 Spam = 11 dice, 11d6.hits(5) → [2,5,5,6,3,4,1,2,4,4,4] = 3 hits.

As i wrote - there's a minimalist-made node of the restaurant that screams to you 'I'm just a facade'. You don't see anything besides that...

Awesome. I'm posting this in the OOC since I'm talking about events in the past.
When Whisper returned to the city signal zone he caught Yani's message and linked up at the apartment with the others. Cleaned up, and is currently wearing his chameleon suit underneath his executive suit for the meeting.

edited my IC a little. I thought my medkit would get in the way at the table. Best to put it in a locker.

I'll try posting today, but no promises. I don't feel so good, and I want to plan a few things ahead for the game. I hope you don't mind, I just don't feel like posting something now, because that wouldn't be good stuff...

Doh! Get well soon, Kot!

When you get a chance:
Yani assumes that Teatime has a comlink. Does he notice one? Also, are there any other nodes like things to order on, make reservations on, general restaurant operation stuff?

Yes, he does have one, but it's not on. If you want to look for hidden nodes, just roll. The plain node has all of those options.

Yani has... Well, around 5 combat rounds in AR to hack Teatime's commlink. Going into VR would be too obvious.

That's what Teatime proposed. And no glow please. It hurtssss ussss. The evil glowsss hurtsss usss eyesss.

Okay, so 5 rounds... Just gonna try to figure out what his access ID is to start with, then go from there if we still have time.
Compiling Sleuth Sprite Rating 6 with Scan and Decrypt as optional CFs:
Compiling 5 + Resonance 6 - 1 spam = 10 dice, 10d6.hits(5) → [2,6,1,4,2,3,1,4,4,2] = 1 hit.
vs
Rating 6 Sprite = 6 dice, 6d6.hits(5) → [4,6,1,3,4,1] = 1 hit. No net hits, failed compilation.
Fading DV = 2 S
vs
Charisma 6 + Resonance 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [4,1,3,2,1,6,6,4,3,1,2,1] = 2 hits.
Fading soaked.
1/5 rounds

Compiling Sleuth Sprite Rating 6 with Scan and Decrypt as optional CFs:
Compiling 5 + Resonance 6 - 1 Spam = 10 dice, 10d6.hits(5) → [5,5,1,1,5,2,4,3,4,1] = 3 hits.
vs
Rating 6 Sprite = 6 dice, 6d6.hits(5) → [4,3,2,6,6,6] = 3 hits. No Net hits, compilation failed.

Fading DV = 6s
vs
Charisma 6 + Resonance 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [5,4,5,6,3,2,6,6,5,1,1,2] = 6 hits.
Fading soaked (wew)
2/5 rounds used

Compiling Sleuth Sprite Rating 6 with Scan and Decrypt as optional CFs:
Compiling 5 + Resonance 6 - spam 1 = 10 dice, 10d6.hits(5) → [1,2,4,2,6,5,5,3,4,5] = 4 hits.
vs
Rating 6 Sprite = 6 dice, 6d6.hits(5) → [5,1,5,5,5,1] = 4 hits. No net hits, compilation failed.... geesh

Fading DV = 8S
vs
Charisma 6 + Resonance 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [6,4,3,1,5,4,6,6,2,4,3,5] = 5 hits.
Yani takes 3 boxes of stun.
3/5 rounds used

Compiling 5 + Resonance 6 - 1 spam - 1 wound = 9 dice, 9d6.hits(5) → [2,6,2,3,5,2,4,6,6] = 4 hits.
vs
Rating 6 Sprite = 6 dice, 6d6.hits(5) → [1,4,6,2,5,6] = 3 hits. 1 net hit, sprite compiled with 1 task owed.
Fading DV = 6S
vs
Charisma 6 + Resonance 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [1,1,3,4,2,2,1,4,5,1,2,3] = 1 hits.
Yani takes 5 boxes of stun! He's HURTIN!
4/5 rounds used

Yani assigns the sprite the task of finding out Teatime's access ID and reporting it back to him.

Sleuth Sprite Scans for Teatime's comlink:
Scan 6 + Resonance 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [2,2,4,5,1,3,3,4,5,5,4,6] = 4 hits.
The sprite finds Teatime's comlink if it is in hidden mode.
Sleuth Sprite Does a matrix perception to find out Teatime's access ID:
Computer 6 + Analyze 6 = 12 dice, 12d6.hits(5) → [3,2,5,1,5,1,1,4,1,1,6,3] = 3 hits.
The Sleuth Sprite was operating in VR, so he should be able to perform the 1 complex action and 1 simple action required to do these rolls.
that's all 5 rounds.

And the Sleuth Sprite leaves having completed his 1 task owed.

The sprite sends you Teatime's ID, but he turns off the commlink just then... Yani feels like his brain is on fire, the sprite's resistance managed to create a dangerous feedback. He starts sweating, and there's a sharp pain behind his left ear. That's probably a light hemorrhage. And the headache starts applying pressure somewhere behind his eyes. Teatime is occupied with food, so he doesn't notice Yani's eyes becoming bloodshot in a few seconds...

Alright, so, is that OOC in the IC section an OOC protest of the IC ruling of the GM in IC? If that question is confusing, well, it should be. Mixing OOC and IC like that is really confusing, combined with a public protest of the GM's ruling, makes things even more confusing. Please don't protest a GM's ruling in IC or OOC. That offends me. But since Sentimodo did, here is my public protest of that player's ruling. I think that is appropriate, since I am a fellow player.

Getting nothing on an an assensing roll with 4 hits means any of the following:
1)the target is wearing deltawear, nanotech, or genetreatments that you do not detect.
2)the target has a disease or a toxin which you do not detect
3)the target is a technomancer and you do not detect it
4)the target is masking
5)the target is mundane

The only thing that you would be able to know which Kot forgot to mention is the exact essense of Teatime. Which would not tell you much, especially since with genetreatments (that you can't detect with 4 hits) you can repair dammaged essence.
I don't think there is any problem with Teatime being mundane. There are plenty of mundanes that study magical artifacts. You don't have to be awakened to have the Arcana skill.

Then again, if Teatime is awakened, then we are dealing with a mage with at least an initiate grade of 1. If he had just one initation grade, and 6 magic, and 5 intuition, which is pretty much a newbie initiate, then he would be rolling a whopping 12 dice on his masking roll. It is not completely unrealistic to get 5 hits rolling 12 dice.

Remember, Teatime IS an elf. Yani sent that memo to everyone in the group. If he is an elf, then he has had plenty of time to be a very high level mage, I would say an initiate grade of 5 would be completely realistic and fair, and would easily be able to defeat your 4 hits on your assensing test. Why is this a problem for you Sentimodo?

Or, you're dealing with something entirely different. I cannot tell. :)
And he's not a high grade initiate, as far as you know. He's an expert, but not a high-powered mage.
