Al piped up. "Nope, yer right, no minister, no padre. They's a bunch godless hippies, after all. Instead ya need a Guide from the Courts o' the Holy - he, she, or it performs the ceremony. Then ya need three witnesses, each from a different one o' the thirteen houses, not necessarily from Flowers or Iron-whatever, but could be. But we can't jist pick any ol' neutral spot - they gotta seal the deal in one o' the holy sites they got down here. I can see yer shocked ta hear there even is such a thing, but actually they got several. Nothin' I read up on says ya need proof o' consummation, though - an' thank the saints fer that."

Robyn collates and sends out the information on the chip, snorting at ISaint's jabs.  "Some of that could be funny, but it can be taken out of context.  And very good, Al.  Yes, a Guide from the Courts of the Holy would officiate.  I will try to compile a list of the holy sites for us to select from, but part of that decision might come from the participants, especially if they have their hearts set on one special place.  I could qualify as a witness as long as the Earl does not mind, and I hardly see him disagreeing with something the Old One wants to have happen.  So we would need to get two other witnesses.  Maybe they have a relative each that can do the honors."  Robyn slips the chip into a pocket after downloading the data.

Isaint raised an eyebrow:
"Wow Al, seems like you have already researched the local wedding customs. I'm impressed. Almost as much that all those houses have holy sites they agree upon. This will likely be my first wedding where it's necesssar to lay down mines and perimeter defenses to keep the ceremony going.
Although I have to admit I once was hired to snipe paparazzi with gel rounds to guarantee a private reception for a certain starlet.

Regarding witnesses: I've got a feeling that this is the part where Al, Jackhammer and me will have to step up to atone for our sin of not presenting our belly when those Druggies went after the girl. The old guy did say that it had to be us three, so I would expect that's the reason."

Robyn shakes her head.  "Possibly, but only if you get adopted into one of the Houses on the way.  I am not totally sure, but I don't think just saying you represent one of the houses would be enough.  Are you even willing to be adopted?"

"In one word: No. Besides, my parents probably wouldn't find that very funny.
Also I don't particular mind if I don't have to be a witness. Keeping an eye on the ceremony and the surroundings would be hard anyway.
For the moment that's probably secondary anyway as long as we don't have the location nailed down."

Isaint replied good natured.

"Maybe," Jackhammer started to use her name, "Robyn", but then couldn't remember if he was supposed to be using another name, and figured Isaint might get on him about it, so he awkwardly continued, "she can be the wedding planner, while the rest of us handle our original business?" He suggests, looking at the others like the solution seemed obvious. "Not that you won't have other stuff to do, just that it seems like you could handle it." He looked down sheepishly at the remains of his second bowl, stirring it idly before diving back in.

Robyn smiles at both men.  "It is not a real adoption.  But it does come with some responsibilities and is not meant to be taken lightly.  I have a home here and spend a lot of time down here, so it is a natural for me.  I am sure that you could go through the initiation, but not sure if you would want to.  And it usually takes more than a day to arrange.  I was considered on probation for over a year before being accepted and marked.  That was, oh, about twenty-six years or so ago now.  I never regretted it, but it is not a life for everyone.  As for the wedding planning, I rather think that most of that is going to be up to you, Jackhammer.  You, ISaint, and Al over there.  I will do my best to help you, to the limit of what I can, but the Old One already shot me down for trying to butt in earlier.  I bet that is some story to hear from those that lived it.  All I know is what came out of rumour central after it happened, and we all know the value of what comes out of RC, right?"

"Yeah... still no. Those who sell liberty for security usually end up with neither.
And wedding planning... what shadow runner doesn't dream about setting up a dream wedding in a war zone. Maybe we should film it all - I'm sure some reality TV outlet would love that. I'm kidding of course. We have enough attention as it is."

To Hecate he said:
"So yeah, if you could find out for us which holy place and which witnesses would be best, we'd appreciate it very much."

Hecate nods.  "We will help as we can, within the limits of the play script and the director's notes.  By popular demand, we have extended our time down here for an extra run.  Seek us out when you are ready."  With that, the interview seems to be completed.  After a few last bites of the food, the harlequins provide an escort back to the level below where the equipment has already been loaded onto the mules.  After a short time to make sure that everything is as it should be, the harlequins simply disappear, leaving the team on its own again.  Robyn pulls up the map of the Market and draws a red line to show the route to get to the tunnel connection to the Underplex.

The tunnel exit from the Market is unremarkable except for the flow of people through it.  This is not a major access point to the Underplex, but for those people who want to slum in Below before hitting the shops of the Underplex, this is the way to go.  The traffic is mostly one way, from the Market, as most of the people use one of the better known public routes to leave the center.  The exit from the Market is nothing special, just another cavern tunnel, although it is well lit and several signs along the way remind travelers that there is a check point at the other end and that certain items will be restricted or not permitted.  The list is long, consisting of just about every known weapon, but leaves a section at the bottom as a catchall in case anything has been left off the list.

The group catches up to the tail end of the line waiting to be processed through the check point and has plenty of time to be reminded of the proscribed list, as the AROs seem to be everywhere.  It is obvious that the management does not want anyone to say they did not see the list.  After twenty minutes waiting and shuffling forward, the team reaches the check point.  SINs are scanned and the equipment is given a rather perfunctory check.  Apparently, despite the signs, the bored guards here are no more alert than bored guards everywhere, and the band passes through the check point and into the Underplex.  It would be hard to describe a place so opposite of the chaos and frenzy of Nightshade Market as the Underplex is.  The first thing that strikes the person that has been in both is how clean and well lit the Underplex is.  One gets the feeling, reinforced by small signs everywhere, that spitting and littering are major offenses here.  Robyn turns to ISaint.  "Show's on, boss.  What next?"

Al noted with no small degree of consternation that, in addition to signs forbidding spitting and littering, there were numerous others declaring smoking out of bounds.

In response to which he immediately lit up a filterless Lucky Strike.

"First we need a temporary base of operations - I don't want to leave the mules standing in the streets and get clamped for a parking infraction.
Since we are a band, I took the liberty of renting the back storage of that closed backery." He sent a map point to the team.

"Previous owners had a pest problem and it can't be used for food production until the city gives their ok. We have it for a week - the owner wouldn't accept any shorter duration. The place we need to hit is about 200 m to the north. We can scout the location while we are giving out flyers for our "concert""

Isaint produced another packet of paper.
"Retro style like the autographs. When we have all details - where the guards are, where Robyn can log in and what route to take - we can finalize our plans.

Right about now we could use the support of our mages with an improved invisibility spell, so we can move the cargo unobtrusively.

But for the moment - to the backery. The "concert" is scheduled two days after our heist and the distraction, so don't hope for another performance in the Plex, even if you enjoyed the last one."

Robyn takes some of the flyers and laughs.  "Fame is sooooo fleeting down here.  On top of the world one day and forgotten the next.  We may have to go back to Greater Europe after this and nail down another gig.  Remember that party bar in Paris?  Tons of fun and boy do they throw a nice orgy.  And they seemed to enjoy our music, too.  Too bad Star Blaze is not here to see us now.  She would have been all over this place."

She laughs again and moves her mule towards the bakery.  "Let's find us a place to set up and I will see if I can jack in."

Jackhammer bristles at being the one searched, generally feeling handled. Working a straight job with credentials put him on a much more comfortable side of things. But that was all gone now, ancient history by matrix standards. The thought of the abandoned bakery cheered him up though, as he'd used to train in an abandoned building, leaping on rusting catwalks and lifting and moving old equipment. Those were the good days, back when all he'd had to worry about was getting scolded for skipping his tutorsoft classes or the latest misdemeanor. The thought of getting in some pull-ups on the rafters was encouraging to him, so he kept on with the others, awkwardly pushing flyers into people's hands or chests and keeping his mouth shut.

Robyn's sensors pick up that Jackhammer is not having a great time, especially as he seems to be the only one really searched.  She moves over to him as they walk to the bakery.  "Hey, do not let racial profiling get to you.  Can't be the first or last time.  I can remember being strip searched several times during this one trip to the Philippines back in '72.  I thought it was because I was a Keeb, but it was really all about the pictures they were taking of me naked.  Seems that Keebs are rare there, and pics of naked Keebs are even rarer.  Once I realized that, I gave them quite a show.  Can't let it get you down.  Say, if you like, maybe we can hit that racy club in Paris when this is over.  I am sure that you would enjoy yourself.  And from what I saw, there was no one there caring if anyone was trog or keeb.  All they wanted to do was dance and screw, and there was so much partner swapping that it was hard to keep track of who was with who.  Or who was in who, if you catch my drift.  Chin up and this will be past us soon enough."

Her genuine laugh carries and is infectious.  She wiggles her ass a bit suggestively at Jackhammer as she passes him.

Finding the backery turned out not to be difficult at all - mainly because there was still a giant  pretzel mounted above the entry. A small AR tag informed the public, that the place was closed until further notice for violations of the health and safety code.
Isaint led the team to around the corner to the back entrance where delivery drones used to bring and receive cargo. The insides had been largely stripped of any machinery besides the massive ovens.
Turning on the lights revealed a disturbing amount of spider webs, hinting clearly to what kind of health violation had occurred here.
All in all the place provided more than enough space for the team.

"Alright. We can leave our gear here for the moment. We have over ten hours before the diversion starts and we need to get information on the resting place of this artifact.
I'm open for suggestions on how we are getting this information.

Robyn, do you think you can hack their host without being detected to gain a detailed floor plan - and ideally information on their security system?
Halfpint, do you have some spy drones you can sent their to get some life data?
Deckard, a little astral reconnoitering surely would come in handy regarding potential spirit guardians and watchers as well as barriers.
We others probably should take the opportunity to take a stroll around the location to scout the best exit routes.
Any other suggestions?"
