Robyn had been aware of Iris' approach but had not said anything because she was expected and she had not finished her piece.  Intuiting that her practice session is over, Robyn stands and carefully places her cello on the couch before walking over to Iris and bussing her cheeks.  "Welcome back, dear.  I trust the complication has been dealt with? We were worried about you when you disappeared and did not let us know what was wrong.  Anyway, you know where the shower is so help yourself.  We can discuss what we are doing when you come back out."

Al was restless. Car crashes and firefights he could handle. But this. They'd been just on the verge of heading out when the strains of Robyn's - hell, Alyce's - cello had sucked them back in. He'd heard her play in their little concert they put up for the underdweller degenerates, but that hadn't been his thing. Too much like Tabasco on ice cream. But the little impromptu thing she'd just done, dammit, that had been something else.

Something celestial.

Which could only have been made by someone celestial.

As if he had any expertise on matters heavenly.

So here they still were.

All those nights whiling away the time in Andoung Tuek, holding out for something better. Some place better. And here they were in her actual home. And of all places it was in Below. She actually lived in the worst place on - well, under - the earth. And he knew from bad places. Okay. Fine. He'd known she was mixed up with these freaks, among other undesirables.

So start again - here he was, with her after al this time, in her actual home. Along with all of his coworkers and a monster.

The whole thing was like a nightmare wrapped in a dream come true, and he wanted out.

"Well, looks like the ladies done got they end under control here, an' ol' Al's gittin' ants in 'is pants. Wherever we's headed, bossman kemo sabe, what say we head there?"

Isaint had a bemused look on his face when he answered Al: "Trouble with being able to stay still often leads to trouble with being able to move, but I get where you are coming from. Despite the delicious meal and the nice company I'll be much happier when I can leave Below again.
So, marching orders:
Rick and Jackhammer: You stay here. Rick: try to find out what you can through the astral. If you can make contact with the lovebirds great, but pinpointing their location will do as well. Jackhammer: You keep an eye on Rick and on the com. You are our mobile reserve to come and bust us out should we fuck up.

Robyn, you fill Iris in on the details and then use your connections down here to get either an audience with one of the two, or at least find out how we can contact them without anyone finding out about it. Maybe grease a few palms with the lower echelons of their houses, but you probably know better than me how to go about that.

Al and Mrs. Karasu, you are with me. We'll head out first to the harlequins to get our equipment back from their custody and afterwards visit the Holys and the cathedral to see if we can book that as our venue.

Any questions, proposals or expletives?"

Alyce can always tell when Al is looking at her.  Something just seems to change in the air whenever his eyes glance her way. and she is still affected by that.  Probably always will be.  She gives a small smile as she has to almost physically restrain her hands from removing her clothes for him.  Even after eight years apart, she wants to be naked and feel his gaze on her body, admiring her form, touching her in ways no other person has ever been able to.  She shakes her head and forces it back in the game.  "No questions from me right now.  I will get Iris fully informed and we will go try to locate one of these kids.  Both, if possible."

Iris waved off Robyn's offer of the shower and turned her gaze on Isaint. "Debriefing and updating first, I think. I can always clean up on the way if we have to haul hoop out of here in a hurry." She unfolded gracefully, coming off the door frame in an easy, liquid motion, crossing to a chair and sitting down with a sigh, careful to arrange her cloak so that she sat on it rather than the chair's cushion. Crossing her arms over her not-unimpressive chest, she said, "So explain to me what I've missed in the last twenty-four hours, or are there questions you'd like to have answered first?"

"No questions at the moment. I'm dreaming badly enough as it is." Isaint replied then cleared his throat: "Right, what you missed: After the pub we went to my rented warehouse to build our disguise as travelling music band. We got your message about your troubles and made our way through the Containment Zone to an entrance where Robyn had some contacts to get us in.
Crossing Below we were first waylaid by the Old One who tasked us with this new job in exchange for information and free passage to the Plex. I'll get to the new job later. We made our way into the underground mall without blowing our cover and established ourselves at a former bakery to stake out the target. Getting into the vault went without a hitch - we used nearby steam tunnels and vents to get close to the secure room and carved our way through with mono saws. The artifact was surrounded by corpses. In retrospect that was the first sign that the intel of our employer was shit. We managed to get the chest out, but Robyn noticed that we already had a bunch of drones searching for us. On our way back to Below we were accosted by some plain clothes guy, tased him, and ran for it. We manged to break through the checkpoint but not without having our freight punctured.
Turned out there was a biological agent inside after all - just next to the artifact. Even worse it was a contagious version of FAB III, infecting us.
We managed to plug the breach, hid away the stuff in a secure container and called some specialists to disinfect us. Sadly, that wasn't enough as it turned out.
On our way out to that bar we picked up the Priestess as your back up. Once we arrived we had to learn that our employer had bugged out and instead left a medical scanner. He already had learned of the breach and demanded we get tested before the hand over. At this junction we also learned that our Mr. Johnson had been played by a dissonant technomancer called Winter. This person was after the artifact and FAB III, wanted to buy it from us. Since we have principles and that techno seemed to be a total cunt, we withdrew strategically.
Since we were on a head on collision course with some severe diarrhea, we decided to do a dead drop with the artifact: We placed it wrapped with det-cord at some old cemetery and called the Johnson to fetch it. Pay went through and he received the deactivation code. After that we went to a safe house of the metropolitan police - courtesy of Mrs. Karasu's contacts - to plan our next step to get rid of the plague. We weren't there for more than half an hour when we got attacked by a team of heavy hitters and a hired go-gang. We made our way through them, getting banged up quite a bit in the process and losing a few of our transports, but we managed to catch their mage and take her with us while being chased by the police in a stolen car. We torched it and went Below, where another pair of healing specialists - courtesy of Robyn's contacts - helped us get rid of the infection.
The mage told us that Winter was behind the attack and after the FABIII. We parted on benign terms and went straight here to get some R&R after all that action.
Now about the new job: The Old One tasked us with restoring balance to the Houses, blaming us for the dive that the Druggies took after their bone headed moves against us last month. A marriage between two girls from the Flowers and the Irons was the chosen method of fixing an alliance between the two. Only problem is, that quite a lot of people inside the Houses seem to be opposed to that idea.
So our job is to pull this wedding off, with all the necessary ceremony.
So far our plan is to stage a concert to get the necessary witnesses and public to the holy place without arising suspicion and then have a quick marriage before anyone can stop us.
To this end we now need first get contact to the two soon to be spouses, so we can get some details on who we actually have to watch out for. That's what you, Robyn and Rick are tasked with.
The rest is off to secure the Cathedral and one of the Holys for our gig - and also the help of the Harlequinade in setting up the concert."

Isaint took a long gulp from his water. "So that's about it. Questions?"

The Polite Oni babbles on. I refrain correcting it's minor mistakes. I think I understand now. It is a figurehead leader. Pointed at a target and allowed to pursue it's course. A shield for those who will truly make the needed decisions. I shall think upon the group and where the leverage is, though I doubt the need.

How does Iris want to play this? It will be an interesting choice regardless. I nod my acknowledgement to her when my presence is recounted to her.

Necessary Ceremony is not quick. Not for the Old Ones purposes.

For the second time in twenty minutes Al had been in motion towards the door when a woman stopped him.

There was a lesson there.

"I'll be outside," he said to no one in particular, and out he went.

Robyn sits in her chair after picking the cello off the couch and carefully begins to play a very soft chamber piece as the others talk.  Aware that Al has left the room, she knows that he can still hear her, but is not sure that he cares.  So much of her life is in some sort of internal turmoil.  Just now, her first instinct had been to leave the cottage behind Al and take a smoke with him, but on further thought she has decided that might not be best.  She is well aware of her record of saying the completely wrong things to him.  It is perhaps better that she just play things quieter around him and let him do most of the talking and it would probably save on shoes and stockings if she can keep her feet out of her mouth.

So she sits and plays quietly and provides a soothing backdrop to the conversations around her, her talent coming out in every note.

The Dirty Old Cheat leaves. I check my shoes, then follow him.

Our mission is to retrieve some equipment and speak with other priests and establish a venue.

It's usually I that is approached for a ceremony and determining whether or not to use the Green or Red Pavilions.

One more out the door.

Progress.

Al could hear more cello from inside. A siren's song. Almost enough to drag him back inside. But that'd be eating crow.

So he was glad Lady Raven showed up. She had her nose pretty high towards the sky, but he still liked her. She knew who she was.

"おはよう、カラスさん。いや、こんにちは?こんばんは?この地下の地獄に区別できん、ねえ、姉さん?”

His gutter Japanese was far from natural as he mused about being unable to tell day from night in this underground hell, but he thought calling her big sister was a nice touch. He figured she was younger than he was, but it was a lot more about perceived station and comportment than chronological age, and he didn't mind buttering her up with a bit of linguistic respect.

"ラッキー・ストライク、どう?” he said, offering her a smoke.

"Seems like one part of the team is getting antsy to go already. See you later."
Isaint got up and exited the door.
"Alright, Mrs. Karasu you are in the lead. I trust your are more familiar with the ways down here than us. First stop is with the Harlequinade to retrieve our gear."

Robyn stops playing as the group breaks up and its component parts head off on their own missions.  She carefully puts the ancient instrument back in its case and takes it into the bedroom to place it in the hidden spot beneath the floor, where is it protected from almost damage that might bring the house down.  Back in the living room, she looks at Iris.  "Back together, again.  Thank you for coming back; we really need your skills and talents.  I guess it is off to the Houses to find the women.  My recommendation is that we hit the Iron Company first and hang about to see if we can spot our target as she leaves the compound."

Iris nodded. "Yeah, that seems like a solid plan." She sighed. "Okay, so his description was a little long on editorializing and a little short on what the frag now. I get the gist, mind, but when he told me where you were, he said," Iris screwed up her face and pitched her voice low and gravelly, "Bring all the weapons you can comfortably carry." She shrugged. "I'm sensing that the pucker factor on this run is extremely high, so give me your opinion. On a scale of one to ten, one being a milk run and ten being a" Iris made air quotes with her fingers, "'milk run,' how deep in the drek have I decided to go wading by coming back?"

Robyn laughs as she removes her glasses to polish the lenses before replacing them.  "Let's talk as we walk.  We have both lived in Below enough to know that there is nothing lower than a five down here.  This could easily escalate to something near or past a ten.  The Old One set three of the team on this mission to see two of the Houses joined by marriage.  Apparently ISaint, Al, and Jackhammer were bad boys down here a while ago and managed to embarrass the House of Flowers by escaping their clutches and killing some of their best assassins.  The druggies lost some reputation and swore everlasting hatred for these guys.  Apparently, this mission is supposed to heal those wounds and make everything alright.  A daughter of Flowers in apparently in love with an Iron daughter and would desperately like to tie the marriage knot, but there are some in both Houses that are against such a thing.  The mission given our heroes is simple, but the Old One was vague about the execution of the plan.  In this, we are simply filling supporting roles, you and I, as the real work needs to be completed by the three men.  Now, you and I both know a bit about politics down here and can appreciate that this might be a tough sell if the House leaders are not behind it.  Any ideas?"
