Hoi, chummers.

Does anyone know much about Proteus AG or the Prometheus Foundation? I'm thinking about using them in a new characters backstory, but there doesn't seem to be much information online. Specifically I'm thinking about their transhumanist activities. Failing that, is there any other faction with considerable transhumanist research outside of EVO?

I assume every megacorp has at least *some* relevant research, but Proteus AG seems creepy enough to make it interesting.

Pretty much all of 4th ed, and could probably borrow most 3rd ed.

The corporate guide (from 4th edition) has a good amount of info on Proteus, was just reading up on it myself as my players are about to head into an arkoblock. Really good and creepy! Like a more extreme Evo that's not at all reliant on public opinion/funding.

Cheers! I'll have to read through this in the morning, but this is perfect. Quantum sciences such as quantum teleportation, akashic records and subconscious collective memories, uplifting of animals to sapience, mind digitalization, vat-grown integration and the creation of metahuman biodrones, non-magical regeneration techniques, and dark matter generation? Sounds like enough wacky stuff to start with.

That is certainly the main one.  There are bits and pieces in various 4th and 5th edition books since but mostly wrapped up in scenarios.

Some time back, Pegasus I believe did a scenario series based around Proteus.  It was for 2nd or 3rd edition and had a ton of information regarding Proteus.  As far as I know it was never sold in North America but you might find it on their website as it was either sold in Europe or part of their demo program.

I never did find the linked scenarios but I did get a copy of the background information as I was and still am developing a Proteus centered campaign though it has been shelved for awhile.  I don't recall if that was off of DrivethruRPG, Pegasus, or another site but the information there was rather in depth for that era of SR.

Once I get back to my desktop and books I will give you a list of other sources.

Yeah- there's so much great stuff just in that paragraph alone

AFAIK, Proteus is one of the corps that have been covered more by the German version put out by Pegasus than the English version. Corporate Guide is probably your best bet with 4th edition, but the upcoming Market Panic book may have some more info.

That's the one.  Thanks for sharing as it would have been a bit before I got back to my desktop.

Were the linked scenarios ever released in English?

An absolutely great resource, thanks! Of course now I want to make an Proteus experimental Drake character created before Nachmeister got eviscerated.

You mean like Monika Stueller-Waffenschmidt, his protege and the CEO/Majority shareholder of the Frankfurt Bank Association?

As a random note, Proteus had worked out a deal with Mobile, alabama, to create an offshore facility, and teh city agreed to rename itself "Space City" as part of the deal. *something* happened in teh facility and Proteus washed thier hands of teh whole thing, leaving the half-finished thing rotting in the Gulf and bailing on teh city as a whole. Teh contract, however, requires the name change to stay in place for... hrm. I think it was 99 years? Can't recall. At any rate, teh city had been planning on a big fat windfall, but instead wound up with nothing and getting stuck with a new name. Not the happiest of people, but the CAS states tend to dislike one another, so, they've just been left to dangle.

(You can get more detail about this in Dirty Tricks, by the by.)

Well, it IS Alabama, after all. Still, they can at least content themselves that they're not in Mississippi.
