OOC:  Welcome back Grunt.

Thursday  7 June 2075  1650  Lady of Mercy Hospital  Seattle

You wake to the gentle touch of a nurse.  Without speaking, she points to a tray of food on the small table near you and smiles before going over to check on the medical monitors plugged into Cin.  Nothing she sees seems to excite her and she leaves after nodding in your direction.  The door to the room is open and you can see the back of an armed man standing there and some sounds that are comfortingly familiar to a hospital.  The food smells good for hospital food.

He thanks the nurse and while she check the monitors, he asks how Cinn is and who brought him the food?
After the answer, he observes the food if it has any strange smells. He can't be too careful after what happened. If the food seems safe to eat, he starts to enjoy his first meal after a long and exhausting time.

When you start to speak, the nurse shakes her head and places a finger to her lips while tipping her head towards Cin.  The smells from the try let you know that you are very hungry and you are pleasantly surprised to find that the food tastes pretty good.  Looking over at Cin in the bed, you see her hooked up to lots of wires and tubes that lead to various medical devices and monitors.  She looks, well, pretty fragged up, actually.

*I've been really lucky, that I was not in the building. Without all the 'ware that Cinn have, I would have probably ended up in pieces or a bloody stain under some concrete.*

After he finished eating, he goes out to ask Larry if he wants to take some rest. Before he takes his place at the door however, he makes a quick visit at Nova, to see how she is holding up.

Thursday  7 June 2075  1725  Lady of Mercy Hospital  Seattle

Larry yawns a bit and nods that he could use the break but waits for you to look in on Nova.  The girl is still heavily bandaged but is awake and watching something on the trideo in the room.  She smiles at you and waves a greeting when she notices your head at the door.  "Hey, G.  How goes it?  How is Cin doing?  They won't really tell me much except that she out of surgery again and sleeping."

"Hey, I'm good, thanks. Don't need to worry about me. I don't know more about Cin either. She was sleeping, when I left her room. She needs a lot of rest. In fact, Larry could use some sleep too, but I think I can stay for few minutes. How are you? Did the doctors told anything new?"

Nova nods.  "Yeah, they told me quite a lot.  My left side got fragged pretty bad so I need a lot of new stuff.  Ear, eye, and leg for sure and arm probably.  Pretty soon I can be like one of the vid heroes; all implants.  I just don't want to lose all of me, you know?  Do you have any?  Implants, I mean?  How does it feel?"

"Yes, I have some. Most of them are pretty standard. For example my eyes and ears are modified to some degree, but they are not cyberware. I have some implants, that are not so easy to come by, but I needed them to survive on the battlefield. Being an ork meant, that I was almost always on the thick of it, because I can take a lot more punishment, than a human. These 'wares help me survive, when the lead starts flying. But what I have is  nothing compared to what Cin have, both in quantity and quality.

And don't worry, to lose all of you, you need to take a lot more implants, than what you will get. Especially because you probably get some pretty high-end stuff. They are not so intrusive to your body.
As for how it feels I cant really tell. What I have is not chrome, they are biowares. I'm still me, although it took time to get used to everything. And sometimes my body let me know, that there is something else in me...something that is not me. But I took them willingly, to get an edge over the next guy and I knew what I signed up for. You don't have much of a choice. But like I said, you don't have to worry about it. You are young, your body will adept to it quickly. You will be a though girl, who kicks the ass of any guy, should he try anything stupid. It will be cool.

Take care, I have to go now to relieve Larry. Have some rest, ok? We'll talk again soon."

Nova nods and settles back down in her bed as you leave the room.  Larry gives you a five and heads off to Cin's room to get some sleep.  There are three KE guys in armored vests and two hospital security guards standing in the hall and small visitor's waiting room.  They all nod to you as you walk around, although you think you hear one of the KE guys say something to another one about private security guards.  The hospital security is a rather good looking woman paired with a hard looking man who gives you a good look then holds out a hand.  "Sam Malone, and this is Julie Crawford.  Glad to have you on board.  Heard some of what you did over at the arena.  Good work."

As he overhears the two KE guys talking, he turns to them and tells: "If you have something to say, say it to my face, punk! I had some rough days and I really don't need some beat-cops talking shit about me behind my back!"

I f there is no meaningful reaction from the cops, he turns to the man from the hospital security, shakes his hand and than holds out his hand to the woman, saying:
"Mr. Malone, Ms. Crawford. I'm Peter Simmons, although I think you already know that. Apparently it wasn't good enough. A lot of people died or get wounded, because I didn't see through the distraction. One of my colleague is between life and death because of that and the other died because I wasn't here to watch his back. But thank you anyway. Sorry for being blunt, but if there is nothing else, I ought to watch the door of my client, so I'd rather not want to leave my post for long."

The KE guys do not respond, but one does blush a bit and seems uncomfortable.

When you hold out your hand to her, the woman takes it and nods.  "Don't let the vests give you too much crap, Mr. Simmons.  We have all had tough days and they are just being jerks by blowing off steam.  We get much the same treatment and have learned to just slough it off. "  The man nods and adds, "What she said.  We are sorry for your losses today and want to make it as easy on you here as we can.  What do you need from us in the way of support.  I am the head of security here and what I have is at your disposal, including Julie.  I am leaving her with you to act as liaison with the staff and security within the hospital.  If you think of anything, just let her know and I will try to get it for you."

"Thank you for your assistance. What we need the most right now, is someone who can take shifts with us, so we can have a bit more rest. I'd also like to have a the complete layout of the hospital, in case something happens and we need to make a quick exit. It would be also good to know, what kind of transportation is at our disposal in such cases. I can't think of anything right now, but I'll let you know if something comes to my mind Thank you Mr. Malone."

As they walk to Novas room, he asks the woman: "So Ms. Crawford, how long have been working in the security business?"

The man nods at you.  "I will get you that as soon as I can.  We are stretched pretty tight right now for extra bodies for shift work, but I will see what I can do.  In the meantime, you will just have to make use of the vests.  See you later.  Julie, take care of them, please."

The woman nods her head and smiles.  "You got it, boss.  I can send Mr. Simmons a basic copy of the building floor plans and work out some sort of transportation."

As her boss turns and walks away, the woman goes with you.  "Given that we are going to be working together, Mr. Simmons and Ms. Crawford sound a bit cumbersome.  Please call me Julie and what would you like me to call you?  As for my experience, I came here right after Lone Star got the boot.  I like Seattle and did not want to relocate, so I took the severance package they offered.  My husband at the time was more dedicated to Lone Star than to the marriage and left with them, so the marriage went bye-bye as well.  Just as well, perhaps.  I was getting a bit tired of his cheating on me with every woman who would drop her panties for him.  So I landed this job and am happy here.  How about you?  You move like you have seen stuff before, and I bet you did not just wake up one morning and realize you could do the things you do?"

"It's fine by me. You can call me Grunt or G for short. Well the foundation of my skill were laid at the UCAS military, but it didn't worked out for me. My CO was a racist jerk. One day I had enough of his ranting and punched him in the fa, breaking his jaw. So the army and I parted ways in not quite friendly terms. Bad conduct discharge. After that I worked as a merc for a couple of years. It was a logical choice with my skill-set. When the group I was in started to turn into a bunch of assassins, I left them and get back here. I don't give my name for that kind of drek. After that, I worked independently for a while, until I got this job."
