So, here's the reason for my previous question on using two-handed guns with one hand - I saw some footage from The Division and decided that a folding shield would be fraggin' awesome.
Prototype:
Folding Ballistic Shield
Armor Rating: +5
Accuracy: 4
Reach: 0
Damage: (STR+2)S
Availability: 14R
Cost: 1500Y
Wireless bonus: The shield can be unfolded/folded as a Free Action rather than a Simple Action.
Notes: Conc. +8 when unfolded, conc. +4 when folded.
The shield can be also folded/unfolded manually (no electronics necessary) with a Complex Action.

The segmented nature of the shield makes it somewhat less sturdy, therefore redeuced Armor Rating.
Conc. modifier for shields wasn't listed so I fudged it based on some other items on the table and pics of real life police/military forces carrying shields.
This shield does not benefit from the mini-ladder included in normal ballistic shield. The "ballistic" part is there so that you know it can still stop bullets.
So what do you think? Good? Bad? If it's the latter, suggestions are appreciated.

google "bat shield" (I shit you not).
It's a folding, ballistic shield designed to be used with an SMG or Assault Rifle/ Carbine.

If I was going to put this in our game I would allow use with an SMG or Assault Rifle with a -2 to hit + the shield would only offer additional armor from opponents in the front 90 degree quadrant (so it wouldn't help from the sides or rear).

YMMV.

I'd make the unfolding take a little longer, personally, unless you foresee a simple folding mechanism that halves the size when stowed. If that's the case, I think your prototype works just fine.

"Batshield"
...I died.

Why only SMGs and ARs? SRs, DMRs, BRs and heavy weapons are obviously not an option, but what about shotguns (I'm assuming pistols, including MPs are fine)?

I kind of assumed that with the tech of 2070s, such a mechanism would be viable. Maybe with smart materials? Though in that case I should probably increase the cost and eliminate the manual option.

Yeah, if you were thinking something more along the lines of a Victorinox folding metal package I would increase the cost, eliminate the manual option, and reduce the concealability even further.

Honestly, though, a simple hinged design that makes the shield take up 50% less space would allow you to carry it slung or on your back with minimal issue. In this configuration I'd require a Ready (Item) simple action and a simple action to unfurl it, which could be reduced to a free action with wireless. That way you could ready it and unfurl it with a free + simple and quickdraw a holstered or slung weapon and fire, all in 3 seconds. Sounds about right to me, though a Victorinox Shield Bracer that is worn like a bracer of old and transforms into a fully formed shield with a wireless command sounds pretty bad ass too.

ETA:
It's worth noting that some of the Baker Ballistics shields are actually worn strapped to the forearm, and allow operators to normally wield a foregrip. As such, you wouldn't even need to fire a weapon one-handed, and could use it mostly normally. I'd probably still apply the general -1 Physical limit modifier for having an unwieldy piece of metal strapped to your forearm, as per page 438 of SR5.

Ummm, that's precisely what I was talking about. Simple Action to unfold by, say, pressing a button, Free Action to unfold with wireless, Complex Action to unfold manually (in case of fried electronics or running out of power). I assumed that the user is already holding the shield in a folded mode.

As for the smart materials solution, I was thinking about using them instead of hinges rather than making the entire shield of off them, but the Victorinox Shield Bracer does sound badass.

A heavier duty version that can be deployed as freestanding hard cover or 'locked' into doorways to prevent entry would be nifty too.

Gecko tape along the edges of a ballistic shield takes care of the latter, but the former could definitely be a feature of the former.

Could expand the Victorinox Shield line:
Tactical Shield Bracer: +1 AV and -6 concealment when folded, and +4 AV when extended (simple action, or free with wireless)
Tactical Battle Shield: +4AV and +4 concealment when folded, +6 AV and +8 concealment when deployed (simple action, free if wireless)
Front Line Combat Shield: +6 AV when worn, can additionally be deployed as stationary that provides full cover (complex action, simple if wireless)

Couldn't also have a shield similar to the mobile cover from the division that way you incur no penalty and still gain cover?
