Hello all!

This is a general lore/fluff question. I'm wondering what are the annually significant days in the SR world?

So far, I know about one (without doing crazy amounts of digging):
October 25 - Liberation Day in CalFree

Others?

January 13th, 2011; UGE showed up that day.  Could be an Elf/Dwarf Pride day.  Most of those elves and dwarfs made it to the current date, as well. 

December 24th, 2011; the 'Official' Awakening, as Ryumyo woke up and flew over Mt. Fuji.  It was the first blatantly supernatural thing everyone saw (yeti were seen in Nepal and the Wild Hunt showed up in Salem, plus stones and stuff erupting in the British Isles, but the dragon takes the cake).  It's also the day Daniel Howling Coyote led SAIM (later the NAN) out of the concentration camps with magic. 

January 12th, 2012; the three primary rivers in India were magically purified (with rumors that there were curative properties again); that is a MASSIVE thing for India, at least. 

January 27th, 2012; Dunkelzhan wakes up.  Everyone who love the Big D probably likes this holiday.  Given he was a president, it might even be a holiday in the UCAS?

May 5th, 2015; first public lodge of real magicians forms.

August 17th, 2017; Great Ghost Dance begins. 

April 25th, 2018; NAN is recognized as a sovreign entity. 

Augus 23rd, 2019; the first fully capable cybernetic arm is developed.

April 30th, 2021; Goblinization Day.  This should be huge among those proud of their Ork and Troll heritage.

February 8th, 2029; the First Crash.  It took 10 months for them to begin fighting it (Echo Mirage finally became effective in November) and 2 years to eradicate it. 

October 15th, 2030; UCAS Day!

June 1st, 2030; Asamando is founded. 

January 17th, 2031; the beginning of the EuroWars. 

February 7th, 2039; Night of Rage- 3 days later Alamo 20K bombs the Sears Tower.

February 1st, 2043; Universal Brotherhood is born.

June 2nd, 2046; Jerusalem finally abandoned due to extreme mana warps.

November 16th, 1046; Humanis Policlub formed.

August 22nd, 2054; Chicago's insect spirit population arises. 

August 2057; Dunkelzhan is elected president and then assassinated after his inauguration.

December 15th, 2059;  Deus takes over the Renraku Arcology.

September 5th, 2061; Halley's Comet shows up, shenanigans ensue. 

November 2nd, 2064; Crash 2.0.  The partially foiled Winternight plan has some activations.

That's just a small list.

In case this question was not spring by reading the Seattle Box, know that the Emerald Shadows sourcebook lists "special days and celebration" for each district of Seattle. This should make your list.

Add to Mijrais list, pretty much all the existing religious/ cultural Holidays as they are still going strong. F.x. i assume that X-mas is as strong as ever, especially now that it's combined with "Awakening day" ( 24/12 ), in the consumer oriented World of SR, i don't see the corps letting go of any Holidays that can still be reasonably celebrated. I mean 4th of July fx are probably pretty much gone and surplanted by UCAS day as Mijrai wrote, but theres no reason why Holidays such as Valentines day, Halloween ( think troll kid in Frankenstein costume  ) ....etc. are still going strong and thats on top on all the new stuff hat Mijrai talked about. Of those days that Mijrai mentioned i think only "Awakening day", UGE day and Goblinization day would have international appeal, the rest are more regional or national in scope.

I'm inclined to think that there are some countries, or parts thereof, which view certain dates as causes for the opposite of celebration. Like Awakening Day is 'officially' a day of mourning, or suchlike.

Very much so. The 5th edition 'Emerald Shadows' already does that (IIRC). Some Seattle districts treat a holiday one way, while others treat it differently.
