So I take it you don't need to buy a pilot program, then, since Pilot is a drone stat?

An extension of your logic applied to a real world application would also mean that manual dexterity and reflexes would have no effect on your ability to play Call of Duty (or similar)

Actually, it flows the other way... Your Call of Duty skills have absolutely no correlation to your Ability to do the real thing, with the real weapons and the real equipment/vehicles. None whatsoever. Call of Duty in no way simulates the reality of what happens in a real combat situation. Your typical Call of Duty nerd would die a horrible and painful death on a real battlefield. Conversely, the ability of a combat trained individual to notice things (his perception) will pay off in a video game environment, but none of his reactions or agility will mean squat because his BODY is not actually performing the movements - his mind is. He is button mashing and that is not the same as using his Reaction and Agility and Muscle memory for staying alive in a combat environment.     :)
The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary. - James. D. Nicoll

yeah the logic/ agility topic has been covered extensively on these boards and others the outcome has always been logic for gunnery when you are jumped in and/ or using sensors.

Agility when you manipulate the gun by hands, so a weapon on a pintle mount for example would use agility + gunnery.

But you can't fire a pintle mounted weapon when jumped in, only automated weapons.

Which always use logic + gunnery.

Really as a rigger you don't need agility as it has no bearing on piloting vehicles/ drones or firing their weapons.
You will need agility of course if you want to run reasonably fast, shoot a sidearm etc.

Here's how we looked at it:

Your brain, when firing that mounted gun via the Matrix, uses the same parts of itself when firing it. You're using your usual instincts to aim at the target, intuit deflection shots on moving targets, compensating for recoil, etc. The VR software is there to leverage your natural skill, and so it's mimicking real life when you use it. Thus, firing a mounted gun via the Matrix uses your Agility + Gunnery unless ...

When you use sensors on the target, the computer is doing most of the work for you. It's doing all of the work you'd be doing instinctively, and just showing you the target and where you might like to aim. Sensor targeting is the "put the reticle on the target and press the right trigger" kind of aiming, and it uses Logic + Gunnery for your dice pool.

That said, see the sig for the usual disclaimers. Your GM, as always, wins ties. =i)

Its funny, I would have gone to Reaction or Intuition before Logic. Whenever I think of FPS and the kind of folks that rock that scene, I don't really think of geniuses. Attacking with a weapon systems HUD would essentially be the same thing, surely?

No matter, we just stick with the core rules and go with agility but it is something interesting to think about.

Autosofts are a drone's skills. If you want it to shoot, sneak, avoid attacks, etc, you want to buy autosofts. The drone's pilot acts as its attributes.

The Pilot Rating will act as an attribute while an autosoft will act as a skill.
IE Pilot + [Weapon] Targeting would be an average attack roll.
