Spokane pokes up the brim of his hat and nods at the young woman.  Mornin' miss.  Our friend Mike said you might have something for us.

What happened here?  This place looks like a war zone.

The woman looks at you with a steady eye and you feel almost like you are being dissected and evaluated.  Finally she nods.  Her French accent is quite recognizable.  "It is a war zone of sorts, yes.  A place where those who have nothing come to try to eke out an existence.  There is little hope here, little reason to cling to life, yet so many do.  Is that not a testament to the strength of spirit?"

She bends over to pick up an attaché case at her feet and offers it to you.  "Please check to be sure that the amount agreed upon is present while I examine what you have brought to me.  Would you allow a compatriot to help me?  He is not armed and will only examine the medicines you have brought to give me an opinion of their value."

Of course.  I understood this to be a friendly ordeal.  I wasn't aware of a specific amount.  I am sure it's all there.  Unless you think you need to Steve?

Spokane links to Mike.  >> you said this was a thing for a friend.  Should I be expecting trouble?  Do you want me to check for a specific amount <<

As you nod, you see the French girl motion with her hand and an older man comes over from the small crowd of people that has gathered in a rough semi-circle around the stoop.  The groups about thirty feet from you and no one is making any threatening noises, but there is a look, a hunger in their eyes.  Something.

The man takes the case from the woman and places it on the battered railing for support as he opens it.  From your vantage point, you can see lots of small packets of pills and powders, common drug paraphernalia.  While you watch him, you get a response from Mike.  [color=green}>>Spokane.  You are right; this is a deal for a friend, but it pays to keep even friends honest.  The package she gives you should contain several quality SINs, complete with associated documents.  I need those back here.  If you have experience with fake SINs, you might examine them, but I am fairly certain that they are good.  She risks losing my business if she cheats me.<<

The older man finishes his examination of the contents of the case and closes it, nodding to the girl.  She smiles at you.  "Thank you.  Mike had said that you were trustworthy and efficient.  You have helped these people a bit today and given them a small portion of what they need the most.............hope.  There are many things that are needed here, but hope is the most important.  If you ever have some spare time and want to do good with it, these people could use help.  Again, thank you.  Here is my com code if you would like to chat some time."  She pulls out an old-fashioned business card.............who even uses those anymore.............and hands it to you.  The card says her name is Monique Chevalier and gives a com code.

I don't tend to be too proactive about that sort of thing, but I'll hold onto it in case I do.  In the meantime you can always reach out through Mike and I'll help if I can.  You folks take care now.

Spokane and Steve begin to head downtown and he links the mark with the commcode Sasha gave him >>Kalishnakov delivery service.  You are expecting a package?  Where would you like it delivered?

>>Ha ha.  I like your sense of humor.  So job is ready.  I have package that needs to be delivered to a man out east of here, in the tribal lands.  You are not wanted there, are you?  Like I said before, it might take a couple of days.  Are you still available for that?<<

>>I thought you needed something delivered downtown.  Okay so crossing the border is going to take a little more planning than I was expecting.  Am I smuggling this something or will it pass a customs check?  Are you covering extra expenses?  the payday between this job and the last seem a little lopsided as well.  sorry about the confusion.<<

Okay so this delivery for Sasha is going to be a little more involved than I was thinking.  Let's get these to Mike and meet up with the others, we may have to be gone for a few days and that might not mesh well with what we are currently involved in.

>>You are taking from me a package of money.  You are picking up for me a different package.  Yes it is contraband so you will have to be careful.  But man at border is already well paid to look other way.  You may give him extra to be sure he l\keeps looking other way, up to 500Y, which I will give to you.  I will also give to you another 500Y for expenses such as food, gas, and a place to stay in small town.  All other expenses must be agreed on so bring receipts.  Is milk run so not need much pay.  Maybe you want something more risky?<<

Steve nods and follows you to meet Mike.

>>I may need to outsource this job Sasha.  Don't get me wrong,  I take my work with you very seriously, but this thing with the mooks I delivered to you yesterday is important to your organization and has a personal component involved as well.  I would hate to be out in the boonies if we had actionable intelligence come up.  If you would be willing to let me outsource this to an friend I believe this could provide us an acceptable compromise.  However if this would not be acceptable I would not want to insult you by refusing your work and I will complete this task myself.<<

>>Hey Feather, you got any more info on those mooks or the chick?  I may need to leave town for a bit and could use anything new you have before I have to go.<<

After delivering the case to Mike and receiving Feather and Sasha's reply Spokane will make plans with the team.

>>No, not outsource.  I have man who can do job.  No offense, but do not know this outsource.  We are still good, though, yes?  I will call you if something comes up.  The men you brought to me are proving to be hard men to break.  I still have a couple of ideas and will let you know what I find out.<<

>>Not much, Spokane.  Not much.  Your boys seem to be part of a group of mercenaries operating from the Balkans, somewhere.  No idea who hired them yet.  And the girl seems to have dropped off the planet, along with the guy who took her from the hospital.  She might be dead, Spokane.<<

Thank you for your understanding in this matter Sasha.  However I feel like I have let you down and I want you to know that you can continue to count on me for future work.  Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make up for that.  I hope those mercenaries are some small recompense at least.

Looks like Sasha's thing would conflict too much with what we are in the middle of, so I had to back out of it, hopefully that isn't a burnt bridge.  Let's go talk to the doctor.  I have his address, but we should check Mercy first I guess since it's normal business hours.

OOC:  I can't find a post where you gave his name just the stuff feather gave me along with the address.  since there is more than one doctor in the story can I have his name?

Steve nods and joins you.  The drop off with Mike takes almost no time and the case is in her hands and a credstick in yours.  She tells you that she might have more work for you later but not just now.  She also tells you that you can keep Phil and Al for two more days, if that will help.  Your drive to the hospital is quick and Steve lets you know that the doctor of record that was involved with the missing girl is one Lyle Mayland, Chief of Obstetrics.  Unfortunately, you are informed at the hospital that Dr. Mayland had called with a request for emergency vacation time the day before and was not available.  So sorry.

Steve looks at you after you leave the hospital.  "His address is public record.  We could go there and talk to him."

Spokane checks the amount on the credstick and deposits half in Steve's account.  Any time Mike.

I had a feeling he wouldn't be here.  I kinda have a bad feeling about this.  Let's be extra careful when we get close to his house.  See if you can detect and surveillance, that kind of thing.  Seems a strange loose end leave untied.  They shot the docs place up and went so far as to hold her father hostage and this guy survived not only the shootings at Washington rec and then again as a survivor at Mercy.
