(Just off the top of my head, would remember more if I was actually looking at our CDs)

When I want a more bleak sort of vibe, will put on a CD like:
Muse – Drones
Billy Talent – Dead Silence
The Clash – London Calling

When I just want some energy without so much the darkness, something like:
Trombone Shorty – Backatown
Metric – pretty much any of their albums, but mostly Synthetica or Pagans in Vegas
Mother Mother – O My Heart
Green Day – American Idiot

Hollywood Undead actually has some very fitting stuff for Shadowrun; whenever I hear Dead Bite, I imagine some of the less savory scenes in Seattle.
Would you want to go into a place where the resident had a drum-fed shotgun and can see in the dark?

Y'all have good taste! I forgot to organize my list. I have each separated into different categories depending on what's happening. Some songs are used for anything in the Matrix, some are used for Astral stuff, and I even have certain songs set aside for some of the big main NPC's in the game. For example, any time Harlequin shows up, I have Death Jester by The Secession and Nomad by Paradox Music playing, as well a bit of renaissance-era classical music like Moonlight Sonata and Danse Macabre.

Bobaflex's Vampire is great when you have a succubus in the game; literal or metaphorical!

Slash has a ton of good stuff if you throw it in the right places.

Wow! You guys are organized.  :)

Anything from Bladerunner

Mortal combat sound byte on occasion for the start of combat.

We also use roll20, so a decent amount of music and sound effects there.

Just picked up some sci-fi stuff from the Arcane Now KS -- preorder still available through backer kit.  ;)

And I also have some stuff from Battle Bards -- more fantasy stuff here; though very awesome!

I listen to a lot of the same music when writing. What I listen to is entirely dependent on the mood I'm trying to illicit. I tend to listen to some pretty dark drek, so all of my SR stories are just absolutely STUFFED with good ol' fashioned family friendly shenanigans.  ;)

Never played with a succubus in the game, but I've used some pretty dark and twisted TPKs before. Heck, even has Raggok show up once. That was fun, well, it was for me anyway. I'm usually a fairly lenient GM, but I can get downright scary when players start making me mad. A succubus sounds fun, though. *maniacal giggling*

I like the cut of your jib; I'm a rocker and metalhead myself, with the occasional influence from other musical genres.  No longer have the mohawk, though.  Too much of a hassle.

I have this thing where I regularly associate certain bands with certain works, though; Starset makes me think of Warframe, Slash makes me think of Kingdoms of Amalur, Atreyu puts me into the Wheel of Time, etc, etc.  Hollywood Undead is usually my go-to for the street level of Shadowrun.  It's sort of nice when I can see a book and know a song, or the other way around.

Always remember that not all succubi need to be literal!

-mischievous grin- There y'all go again, giving me ideas. Though my stories are my primary focus for the time being. I'm working on two at once, with a third currently in the planning stage. So trying to draw up and run a campaign would be putting a touch too much on my plate, methinks. That's if I'm even able to find a group. I just moved, and I know exactly no one around here.  :-\

In our games, we only listen to one song, The Scatman.  Sometime in the early 2020's all music is held by corps.  During the crash of 2029, all music, that wasn't public domain was lost.  The only music in the public domain is The Scatman, as performed by Scatman John, and released in 1994.  As such hundreds of artists took this song, and re-mixed it, covered it, re-imagined it.  As such all music is Scatman.  There is only Scatman.  Elektronika Scatman.  Death Metal Scatman.  Get into a cab, he's playing some variant of The Scatman.  Walk into a biker bar, there's only one song on the jukebox, The Scatman, in 30 different variants.
