Hi all,

Im from Singapore, a place where tabletop games are not really popular. I have played a few shadowrun console games and I am really fascinated by the Shadowrun world. Well, I am just started to read 'Never deal with a Dragon' and really hope my imagination can create the SR world.

I had done some researching on the web, and from the Wikia, the timelime provided actually started in year 1980! Brief description of events and things happening in each decade were given. Can anyone advise me where does these events mentioned?

Im sorry I would admit I am not going into the tabletop game. But I would probably buy any fictions that will bring me deeper into the SR universe. Cheers.

There is an enormous amount of books and other media for Shadowrun. So this timeline in the wiki has been put together from many sources. One start point for you could be this Shadowrun history: http://www.shadowruntabletop.com/game-resources/shadowrun-timeline/ And maybe have a look at the Shadowrun primer that was compiled for the Kickstarter campaign of Shadowrun: Returns: https://s3.amazonaws.com/ch_shadowrun/shadowrun_primer.pdf

Beyond that the question is what aspect of the world are you interested in? The history, a particular world region, the runner lifestyle? Depending on that different books could be recommended, novels and also various sourcebooks for the roleplaying game that provide background information.

The fourth edition book 6th world almaniac does a great job of hitting all the major points and covers the whole planet. But it is a game book, meant to provide in game world knowledge...
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

Like Reaver said, the Sixth World Almanac is an excellent resource for portraying the setting, from the setting's perspective.  Big picture, but a great picture nonetheless.
Would you want to go into a place where the resident had a drum-fed shotgun and can see in the dark?

*Bursts through the Well, Actually wall like the Kool-Aid Man*

MIke Mulvihill wrote it for the freelancers to coincide with Third Edition, which is why it ends at 2060. It is, however, still eminently useful for its stated purpose. The material since is just another couple of heavy layers of cake.

Are your sure? It mentions 20 years of Shadowrun development in the preface. It's true that it doesn't read as if it was done for the Kickstarter backers, even though the document was created right around when the campaign had started.

There was an update to address SRR, but the bulk of the document is from circa 2000.
