I'm just trying to get a better idea of just what these are layed out as and am wondering if there's any good resoures for this (official or fan made). Things like rough layout (Ground floor to 5th floor stores, 6th to 15th offices, 16th to 30th residential, etc). Do they produce their own food, power, water filtration, are they big enough to have their own train/tram/X transit system to move people from one side to the other in addition to elevators servicing the different floors. Do residents rarely leave them, leave them for occasional holiday's if their wealthy enough, come and go regular living in the arcology but working elsewhere. That sort of information if anyone know's of something good for it I'd appreciate it.

The original Seattle Sourcebook from 1990 has floor-by-floor descriptions of the Aztechnology Pyramid (3 pages) and the Renraku Arcology (9 pages) in Seattle. That would be a great start.

$8 on DriveThruRPG. I still use my copy regularly.

Check out Renraku Arcology: Shutdown from SR3. There's a chapter on life inside the arcology before Deus took it over ("Pride Goeth," p.10), and floor-by-floor descriptions at the back ("Floor Index," p.86).

Thanks I'll buy/look for that sounds like its exactly what I'm after.

EDIT
Wow the Renraku arcology has over 300 floors and it has a roof on the 30th that's a neat trick. Need to go over the book and see how big each floor is because that's a lot larger than I was thinking. The tallest skyscraper today is only 163 and 2 basements. The truly scary thing is the Renraku Arcology is only the NINTH largest building in the world.

They do sound like an interesting place to live and you wouldn't need something on the scale of the Renraku Arcology. Which is an entire city within a city with its own voting precints and thousands of residents ranging from the blue collar workers on the lower floors up to the luxury ones for the upper class on the top most ones housing nearly a hundred thousand people. Just modify the Aztech pyramid so its got a few floors for food, power, etc most of which could be in a basement and you have a nice little suburb acrcology that doesn't dominate a skyline.

Of course the renraku one was still under construction I think so its hard to be sure of the final layout but I doubt there'd be that blue collar, middle class, blue collar, middle class, blue collar rotation although maybe they'd be like modern suburbs. You have blue collar workers living on higher floors but the neighbourhoods not so nice just better views and they work in that area rather than going down or up.

It is interesting that its something like a kilomter by half a kilometer in size yet there's no crosswise movement (I assume the monorail only goes out of the arcology as its not on other floors) so if your going from something on the eastside to something on the westside you have to walk that distance especially for the older residents.

Thanks again for the suggestions.
