I think you are being a little hard on yourself. Best value i can figure for the opposing roll is about 9 dice total. I will have to roll it when I get home from work but I think it is safe to say you succeeded. What kind ofvresult were you looking for?
Thanks for pointing this post out--I'd missed it somehow. I was disappointed by the 8 hits because of the +5 DP for manipulating a crowd (and besides, the bigger the ensuing chaos, the better as far as Sam's concerned...)
In an ideal world, Sam would love to see a few people starting to take pictures, then a few more, quickly snowballing into a crowd of people asking for autographs & such; people insisting that they'd seen all her 'trids, they're longtime fans, and so on. Maybe even some media coverage of the (poor bewildered) lady starting as our team slips away to our next flight.
Heck, maybe she'll even get picked up by a talent agency and become the starlet Sam portrayed her as being. That'd be amazing--kind of the ultimate confirmation of Sam's ability to change reality.
Of course, Sam doesn't do this sort of thing for no reason; he's doing this largely to demonstrate his abilities to his employer, who didn't seem to appreciate them during the initial meet or in his attempt to organize some sort of cover story for when they get to their destination. Sam doesn't like being sidelined.
