Now I am a bit confused.  We seem to have skipped ahead from me asking about the shotgun.  Gem left to go talk to her contact but left me and Nyx in the van?  Are we to wait here for her to come out and get us or what?

Redundancy:

We want to film the courier picking up the credstick and leaving the pixie. Once he has done that, we apprehend him, verify that there is money on the stick and get the confession from him that he was just selling a pixie for the farm.

The Vamps (hopefully) don't come into play - not that it would be bad to shoot some, but it increases the risk that the courier is injured or killed before he can confess - or worse escapes.

Since we know the drop point it's probably easier to wait there for the courier since it's easier to hide stationary then to follow with three people after one person inside sewer tunnels.

this what I thought was your plan but with Nyx so charismatic that you can try to do so Independently. Gem planted the stealth chips on the smugglers and will take a while before she can sweet talk her contact into introducing you. I am good with both interpertations.

and Jack they go in groups of three for safety. Maxwell encountered them previously.

Good thing we are three too, two can die, the third is the lucky one who is allowed to talk.

So might as well wait near the drop point (but far enough not to be spotted ofc) with our muscle so I can track their movement with the chips. Unless I can do it from the ground level so I don't have to walk in the sewers.

@Kuriem they make 7 noise due to concrete and white noise, the state of the matrix adds 3 more noise.
So baiscally you'll take 1 noise + distance you can still perceive them as long as total noise does not exceed your device rating.
This means that you'll be able to get to: 10km from the smugglers in order to reliably see them them.

(You'll take a dice pool negative of between -1 to -4 according to their actual distance from you).

The rest of you can probably not sense the stealth chips unless you are in the sewers yourself.

Nice so I can start from the farm and follow them all the way from above.

What is the mechanism by which one determines noise  reduction...is there a formula?

There are cyberware that reduce noise (datajack, antenna)
there are also programs that reduce noise (signal scrub)
an hardware modification that reduce noise ( Vectored signal filter)

ofc, signal from underground will easier to get.

There is also a complex action to mitigate noise on the fly (electronic warefare + logic ) that I think requires an RCC.

What does the device rating have to do with it?

Devices only work as long as the overall noise is lower than their rating. So a burner is not going to be able to make a call out of the sewers but a high end link might.

Yeah-yeah, Trasys Avalon is on my to-buy list.  It's right next to my F3 Power Focus.

The noise reduction action can be made with all devices, not just RCC

I got my Transsys the old fashioned way: I killed a guy, took his phone, knives and his job  ;D

If I had killed that guy on the first mission I wouldn't be so broke.  That's what I get for being nice.

Sure about that Jack_Spade?

If you’re using an RCC, you can compensate for noise on the fly.
