Anyone know of or have a write up for a freight train in Shadowrun? I prefer 20th Anniversary edition, but I will take any well thought out write up.

Vehicle stats are really only useful if you plan on having "vehicle vs vehicle combat" or "human vs vehicle combat".  If something's going on in a train or just happening to a train, you don't really need the stats.  So what are you hoping to have happen?

Jeeze.  It would almost sound stupid until you realize we're talking about an immortal elf clown sword fighting a dragon ghost in a mall.

I am writing an adventure set in an active war zone that involves riding on a freight train. I anticipate both "vehicle on vehicle" and "character on vehicle" combat.

I don't think anything has be written on trains at all, stat wise.

They are big, heavy vehicles that make tanks look small. For the most part, anything short of a large explosion is not going to do much structurally to a train.

So this may just be a place and time for some "GM handwavium". Set the stats at what you think is right, and adjust from there.

For what its worth, during WW2 trains that were attacked directly were done with 500lbs bombs or clusters of rockets, usually fired/dropped from planes. However, this was rarely effective against the train itself. The tracks the train rides on was a different story.

Allied fighters would bomb the tracks and destroy them, thus making the train useless in transporting material until the tracks were fixed.
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

Remember: You can't fix Stupid. But you can beat on it with a 2x4 until it smartens up! Or dies.
