@Maxwell He tells you "It is not that someone approaches you and introduces herself as an AI goddess, most of our dealings with the outside worlds are digital and it is unsafe to guess who buys the information we are sale. Buyers often protect themselves with layers of anonymity.
About a year ago we were hired to do a research about all the powerful mages and adepts in the market. It did not seem especially evil at the time, perhaps a cooperate looking to find some actual talent. Then mages started going missing and we started to worry about what the information was used for, but there was no evidence that they were not recruited into some cooperation or something.
At a certain point it became clear that many of the awakened are infected, and then our client begun to be interested in infected as well and we formed an initial contact with powerful vampires in the city to introduce them to our mystery client.
Little did we know what it was all about, but when magical creations started terrorizing the city including this place and most of the residence in our own neighborhood became terrified or even left the area - then we started to see a connection.
This is where Amy had her doubts about this collaboration, and then as the zombies begun to appear, they were not the monsters that they are now. The things could barely walk without stumbling and still it was enough for people to dig closer to the truth and many of our hosts were hacked. Then things got gruesome, we do not kill people - not through the matrix and not unless it is self defense. We are information gatherers and scavengers, not cooperate spiders.
That vampire, coerced Amy into killing anyone who got too close to our awakened/infected research, anyone who investigated the missing mages. In the meanwhile the rest of us were working on uncovering secrets of system security that were lost in the silicon age. You was working with the KE on that one, you may remember we have been developing security measures ever since. Anyhow, once Amy started killing people she tried to back down and bring us to what we always were, information traders, but she quickly discovered that we simply do not have the means to deal with vampires. These could infiltrate our security and there were no drones on the market that could identify them in myst form, understanding how vulnerable we are to this new menace she made a deal with a vampire named Grail.
She would do anything that he wants and he would tolerate and protect us. Deal has been on for a while now, but Amy got increasingly distant from the rest of us. She seemed less and less interested in her research projects, she barely talks to us now it is like her mind is somewhere else. Grail's location is information that Red wants and Red's location is information Grail wants, knowing both of them will grant us a level of independence. If Grail moves on us we can always retaliate by tipping off Red."
