Hello!

I am currently in the middle of building a character with Sum 2 Ten AACEE -> Human with High Attributes and lots of 'Ware. I am dropping 14 of my skill points already into one melee and one ranged combat skill. Does anybody have any advise what other skills I should pick, because I'll admit, 28/2 is very tight. (I usually do Skills B, but this time I am shooting for a no nonsense fighter).

Thank you in advance!

Perception and Sneaking.

Use karma to buy a handful of rating 1 skills and/or skill groups to round yourself out. (Armorer, Etiquette, Pilot Ground Craft, etc.) With your high Attributes + 'ware you'll be halfway decent even with low skill ratings.

To min/max and assuming you have a high AGI (8/9) I would go : 6 Ranged , 6 Melee, 6 Etiquette, 6 Perception all with specializations. Athletics is a good choice for your skill group. Pick 2 Sneaking with Karma and you have all the essential skills.

As Tecumseh said you can pick some other 1-skill, especially if you have a good LOG. I wouldn't recommend to have 1 Etiquette though unless you start with a really high CHA.

28/2 is plenty for a fighter without a huge dip into an other role.
There's a sample:
Primary fighting style 6(+2)
Backup fighting style 4(+2)
Perception 6
Sneaking 4(+2)
Etiquette 4(+2)
Pilot Ground Craft 1 point for karma, assuming you have a skyhigh Reaction attribute.
Athletics SG 2

For Skills C I like to split the group points between Outdoors and Athletics.  Usually you've got a decent intuition making the Outdoors skill group a decent splash group to grab.  And it's not like one more dice in the Athletics group is all that important.

Other useful skills to grab with Karma at chargen or in the first couple runs.  Con, Throwing, Heavy Weapons, Palming, Hardware (for B&E).

This.
Many people want skimp on social skills when they have low skill points, relying on the the ol back up of 'the Face Talks'...
But the face can't talk to your contacts, nor is he glued to your hip all the time... and all it takes is one failed social roll for a Run to go from 'easy' to 'Fragged' :P
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

Remember: You can't fix Stupid. But you can beat on it with a 2x4 until it smartens up! Or dies.
