Hi all,

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere...

Just wondering if there's any information to be found about pending reprints of the core books? In particular, I'm thinking of "Run Faster", which seems to be very hard to come by these days.

Also, some of the books sans errata would be good too!

Thanks,

AJCarrington

Nothing really formal, unfortunately. If you follow CGL on FB and/or Twitter, you can often find/hear bits of info...that's what I do ;). With regards to a Run Faster, it was noted with the launch of the new store that the hardcover edition is out of stock and that a softcover reprint is in process. It look like most of the reprints will be soft covers going forward.

Gotta admit, I'm eager for the softcover books. Never been a fan of the trend to all hardbacks all the time in games.

I think its because hardbacks hold up better over the long term then softbacks....

But you pay a little more for that durability...

Yeah...gotta admit that I much prefer the hardcovers, though it's more about that consistency across the bookshelf... ::)

Yeah...  Speaking as a hardcore bibliophile I much prefer hardback for that extra durability.  Any book I own will see exceptionally heavy use, obviously I treat them well and can even do some limited repair work but in general paperbacks require so much more care and maintenance they arent worth the minor cost reduction, particularly when they are used as much as my shadowrun books are.

Indeed, I'd prefer hardcover books too, but I suppose softcovers are better than nocovers!

A lot of people have had trouble with the SR5 core book and its binding (I haven't had that trouble with the other SR5 hardcovers).  I haven't really had any issues with the softcover books, either, although I am not really that fussy about how "mint" my books are - as long as the pages aren't falling out, I'm fine.

As someone with a home PC who has never really made the switch to laptops, or .pdf's, I hope that someday they will collect some of the .pdf offerings together in a physical book for all of the Luddites like me.  :)

You can get that done yourself at a local printer....

Be forwarned, its not cheap! I had 3 pdfs turned into a softcover. Final price was $80. Or about 0.70 a page....

If you're willing to go black and white, you can print it yourself on heavier paper (or do b/w at the copier place) and have them print nice color front and back pages. Not as nice as all color, but a lot cheaper. You can also go with a spiral bind, which is nice for certain books.

I do something similar for my new player handout sheets, once they have thouroughly red my literature and decided on race, build, skills etc I photocopy all the relevant pages of rules for it in black and white, highlight the bits they need in colour marker and organise them into a minibooklet with a typed index at the front, it's fast to make and REALLY cuts down on them needing to flick through rulebooks (Especially for matrix stuff)  as cheatsheets aren't always the best reminder for a new player of what or how they can do something.
