OK, so I'm gearing up to start my new campaign in the next month or so (I'm planning to run a mix of homebrew and Ghost Cartels, maybe carrying on into the Artifacts and/or Missions bits if it goes well) and I'm trying to do all my groundwork; in particular, I'm trying to use the tables at the back of Seattle 2072 to make a series of Google Maps (one per district) so I have an idea of how far away things are from one another.

In the process, I've noticed that there are a number of addresses that aren't within the boundaries of the district they're supposedly in.  While that's mildly annoying, it's hardly the end of the world - they're not generally important locations, anyway.

However, in trying to place the Renraku Arcology on my map, I run into a slightly different problem.  See, Seattle 2072 has it located at "1 Renraku Avenue."  Which makes perfect sense in-game, but I was wondering if anyone had a canonical location that I can mark on my map - seeing as how the ACHE is pretty important as Seattle locations go!

There is a map in the back of the 1st ed main rulebook, it had the arcology al placed properly.  I believe there is also a google map overlay out there which has duplicated this

Dammit, I don't have the 1st Ed rulebook - but maybe it's in that fold-out map at the back of 2E?  I shall investigate - many thanks!

Looking at the 1E map, Renraku's northwest corner is on Alaskan Way Viaduct and halfway between Spring and Seneca. The NE corner is around 6th and halfway between Cherry and James. The SE corner is around 4th and S King. The SW corner juts out into the bay, where they built the docks out further than the current landscape shows.

IIRC, it partially encompasses the footprint of Qwest Field and then extends north. It's approximately 1 sq. km.

The following link is for the unfinished Google Earth SR project I'm working on. The Renraku Arcology and Aztechnology Building are located on the map, in 3D, to scale.*

(right click - save as, you need Google Earth, natch)
http://www.fizzygoo.com/Sr/Support/SR4_North_America.kmz

* To scale being the buildings base x, y, z distances are established (Seattle Sourcebook from SR1 had dimensions in meters for both buildings). The "angle of ascent" for both buildings is somewhat based on artist renderings, general look/feel, but mostly the fact that they are x & y long at the base and z high (I don't like the look of either....but I blame this on the dimensions being what they are. Shrinking the roof sizes to lessen the angle of ascent just gets me to the point of saying, "well, there's obviously a 50/100 meter tower on the top and they're counting that as the total height" or some other justification.)

Anyway, it's a work in progress...but it's located at the right spot +/- 10 meters and is the right base width, base length, and total height +/- 5 meters.

Hehe, thanks Fastjack. It's a very slow project, I'm mired deep in the overlays for the Ivory Coast regions. Plus what's more important...getting country borders accurate to within 100 meters or getting ready for the next adventure. And of course once I start on the 100 meter accuracy I start seeing where 50 meter accuracy would look better...then 10...then 5...and so on.

If I ever get around to learning Sketchup/Building Maker I could get nice skins on the buildings and what not...but not going to happen anytime soon.

I have a rough map I've been working with for Missions and the Ork Underground project, marking up locations we're using and keeping things in perspective for DOwntown Seattle.  I have the Arc and the AZT Pyramid blocked out on there, based on the Downtown Seattle Map from 1st/2nd ed.

As a note, the Archology actually extends out over the water a bit.  Looks like they added to the shoreline a bit to get fit it in. :)

@ Bull. Yeah, definitely the arcology goes "over the water" a bit based on the downtown-core maps from 1st & 2nd. I assumed that was to ease the use sea water for the nuclear reactors & desalinization plants in the basement...underwater vent tunnels for runners to risk using. :)

I'd loooove to see the map for the Ork Underground :)

Well, for the Ork Underground, you just need to find a map that deliniates the current Seattle Underground (an interesting tour if you like history, though it's a bit dull...), use that as a base, and go from there.  The original Underground (and the batch that's open to the public) is in the Pioneer Square district.

I'm hoping to at least have some basics for the "Tourist Highway" area, which is directly downtown and a part of the old Pioneer Square area (Or directly adjacent to it).

The Tourist Highway is a major part of the "Public" Underground.  It runs between the two most commonly mentioned public entrances to the OU, Lordstrung's and the Big Rhino.  Conveniently enough, there is now the Seattle Transit Tunnel.  WHich runs directly under Lordstrungs and then between there and the RHino.  So we've co-opted a major portion of that for the Tourist Highway.

There's a few other locations that we've defined (and have marked on the map) that are popping up in Missions.

Dunno yet what we're doing for maps or anything...  I don;t think we'll have a "Definitive Map" of the OU...  We want to leave a lot open for the GM to play with...  And a lot of the connecting tunnels are simply random, winding mazes, so it's easy to get lost if you don't know the tunnels, even if you know approximately which direction your target location is.  And the tunnels are collapsing and being redug, moved, etc all the time.  All part of the charm.  :)

SRM 04-00 Back in Business, the first Missions adventure, has a map of the Lordstrung's Entrance to the OU/Tourist Highway though.  It also covers one of the other major "areas" we've set up for the OU...  Pirate's Cove.

After a (small amount) of intertubes research...I can't find a modern map of the Seattle Underground, hehe. Even pre-Underground maps of the city are all coming up birds-eye perspective (lacking top-down view with street names). The lack of instant access to knowledge is driving me nuts! But it does mean that the (under)world is Shadowrun's burrito!

Yeah, I'd expect a pretty stable map of the "Tourist Highway" and major tunnels, then after that too many frequent changes by the residents for any map over six months to be reliable.

The Missions series are definitely on my list, and with a Lordstrungs' map I'm definitely more than itching to get it (see the Lordstrungs entry in Fan Fiction, hehe). Three months of the Fizzygoo-mobile having epic troubles ($2K since late November) means I gots to wait to get my digital mitts on any more game goodies though :(
