do you have to spend Karma on spells? or just the cash for formula and teachers? point me to the rulebook references please
5 karma per spell, formulas have a monetary cost, and the teacher is optional... Or I could skip the Formula altogether, and find a teacher. I probably have enough contacts for that. Or, if you allow it, I could propose one of my Awakened contacts an exchange - a spell for a spell, plus I owe them a favor... Stryker will be heavily relying on favors and other kind of mutual agreements without money involved. His Honor demands that he shouldn't pay for magic, nor favors with money - that's demeaning (in his opinion, as a Spellweaver) to both sides, and to Magic itself (remember he views it as something alive, in a matter; a bit like a deity, but only a bit).
So, with 11 Karma I could do one of the following:
1. Learn a Manabolt spell, and purchase the Binding skill, plus a Spirits of Man specialty to Summoning.
2. Learn a Manabolt spell, and purchase the Enchanting skill, plus the above specialty.
Which one would be better? I know my chances at Binding aren't good, but I'd really like to have them. Or I could buy Enchanting and start talismongering a little on the side - with Mata's help probably.
