Didn't see it in the core. But might be in another spot I did not look. What breaks ties in initiative?

P. 159 Core book

Quote
If there is a tied Initiative Score use ERIC (Edge, Reaction,
Intuition, Coin toss) to break the tie, comparing
Attributes in that order, with the character with the higher
Attribute going first. If you’re still tied after comparing
all three tie-breaker Attributes, flip a coin. Alternately, at
the gamemaster’s discretion, both characters can act simultaneously.

Actually, in most Shadowrun games, they typically have a Lifestyle so they're either Murder Hobos (Street/Squatter Level) or Murder Renters (Low+ level)

E.R.I.C. (PG 159, core rulebook)

Edge
Reaction
Intuition
Coin toss

Edit: what he said.
RPG mechanics exist to give structure and consistency to the game world, true, but at the end of the day, you’re fighting dragons with algebra and random number generators.

Is the Edge thing new?  Errata?   I always thought it was Reaction first.

Copy pasted it from the core book and listed the page number, if it was changed it's news to me...

I think it's new to the edition. I just check my first printing and it's the same.

Interesting, I think my GM was doing it wrong then.

Edge has been the preferred tiebreaker since SR4.

SR4 (p.132) and SR4A (p.144): "If two characters get the same score, then they act simultaneously. If for some reason it is imperative to determine which one acts first, compare attributes to see who has the highest Edge, Initiative, or Reaction (resolving ties in that order)."
