There was a great SR2(v?) device that allowed runners to buy a soy food-maker, complete with texture and flavour enhances to spit out anything from a Hamburger to Thanksgiving dinner.

Looks like Hamburger, tastes like a hamburger...but is actually Tofurkey....

Not that I'm defending Taco Bell (partial to Chipotle and Wendy's Spicy Chicken, myself), but here's the rebuttal ad.

Now why, oh why Mr.FastJack would you inject facts into these proceedings?!

Someones fibbing then. I don't see why a law firm would put themselves in the way of that defamation suit unless they had good evidence.

Currently, TacoBell are defending a class-action suit on the issue.

They've now taken out the rebuttal ad to minimise the bad press.

Once all the beef has hit the fan, so to speak, they'll regroup and counter-sue for defamation and damages to their brand name.

I chalk it all up to someone thinking they could make a quick buck with a lawsuit. They probably thought "Taco Bell will just pay out a settlement so it doesn't go to trial", but it back-fired on them.

It all sounds like the rumors 'bout 30 years ago that McDonald's was using kangaroo/worm meat instead of beef in their burgers.

It made for good reading a week or two ago when this first broke. The part I enjoyed the most was when the USDA said the water content normally found in ground beef was only about 5% off of what the suit claimed.

For the record, Kangaroo meat is very tasty  ;D. It's extra good in a stir fry (bit tougher than beef, but has a stronger flavour).

There are more than a few Kanga-burgers for sale down my way  ;)

Next marsupial food item I want is a Koala-steak.

Drop-bears prevent that from being feasible. :P

*laughs* The funniest thing I saw in any Shadow-run book EVER was the fact that they've introduced drop-bears as a HMVV-infected Koala in Running Wildtm.

I damn near fell off my chair from laughing....

For the record, though. You can still scare a tourist or two with a good Drop-bear story. Even having the internet on a phone doesn't stop a few people getting suckered...
