I asked about this, sort of, in an earlier thread, see:
https://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=30064.0 However, now that I am actually making a character that I might actually play in the next month, I have a clearer idea of what I am asking about drones. So, some more detailed questions...
How do weapon accessories interact with mounting the weapon on a drone? Specific questions:
* Gas Vent, Silencer, Airburst Link - I assume these work exactly as written?
* Bipod, Tripod, Smart Firing Platform - I assume these are meaningless?
* Gyro Mount, Shock Pads - I am unsure about these, but tend to think they have no effect, does that sound right?
* Imaging Scope, Periscope - Good grief, who knows?
* Laser Sight - I think this works exactly as written. Correct?
* Smartgun System - this is the one that really throws me. I have no idea how this works, or how it interacts with the drones own sensor array. This was discussed in the other thread (linked above) I feel without much clarity. For example, if you human is "jumped in" does the human need a smartlink? If the human is not jumped in, does the drone?
Now, on drones acting on their own (using autosofts). What can drones actually do? I assume they can, at a minimum, Attack and Move. Can they take all of the actions listed in the action section? For example:
* Can they Call a Shot?
* Can they Dodge or Hit the Dirt or Take Cover? If so, do they use Evasion autosoft?
* Can they use Multiple Attacks?
* Can they Take Aim? (This is related to the use of Imaging Scopes above)
* Can they change the firing mode of the weapon(s) installed on them? Or does that have to be specifically part of the command? (e.g. you can't command "attack the squad of soldiers" you have to command "go to burst fire and attack the squad of soldiers".)
If they can take these actions, I assume that even though the rigger is not actively controlling the drone the rigger still makes these decisions, is that right? Do they have to be specified as part of the command that is issued, or is the drone smart enough to do these things themselves?
Lastly, autosofts. I just noticed that the archetype character has their autosofts specifically labeled per type of drone. So its not Evasion autosoft, its Evasion Dalmation autosoft. This is not mentioned at all on page 201. Are autosofts specific to a drone model, or will an autosoft work on any drone? This particularly matters when you are trying to share out programs from an RCC and have more than one model of drone connected to it.
