Somewhere in the SR4A books I believe it says baseball is one of the sports that don't allow Awakened, augmented, or Metahuman players. Seems awfully ignorant to me, and I'm a huge proponent of "the rule of cool", so feel free to hand waive that if it gets in the way of your fun at the table.

It's been a long time, so I may have some of this mixed up, but there was a novel waaaay back in the SR2 era about a wolf shaman that played baseball (as a professional or as part of a mission, I don't recall). The MLB used Awakened umpires to see if any of the players were using mojo to cheat.

As for Slugger himself, he looks legit,  and I really like his birth name, nickname, and fake SIN name =] Personally, I'd remove Astral Perception and Eidetic Memory, as those aren't really Powers associated with The Adept Way of the Athlete, but it's your toon and you may have some good reasons for having them that I'm not aware of. All in all, that looks like a fun character to play.

I've asked around about the Metas in sports thing,
someone sent me a link that talked about what years augmentation was allowed.
It actually never mentioned anything about Metas not being able to so I just assumed.  It said that finger wigglers weren't allowed but there had been a few rare adepts.

I was going to write in that his agent and eventual coach lobbied the league hard for 2 seasons before the league let him play.  Then the juicing thing happened, lots of jobs were lost, it was ugly.

I wanted to keep the astral perception.  Thematically its so he can Assense the batter to see their emotional state.  And runners to see if they were planning to steal.  OOCly, I just like assensing and wanted to fight spirits in astral if need be,

As for the memory, Thematically he used it to replay his games in his head like watching the tapes so that he can examine every detail of the batters swing.   OOCly, I really loved the whole photoreading thing as well as having the perfect memory makes me feel like it alleviates him being not bright.  He can't explain how it works but he knows what cordite is because it was on "How it's Made" 4 years ago.  He's like, bar trivia expert smart.

Fair enough.  I just checked SR4A about the Metahuman ban in certain sports, not to argue the point but to make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass =p Page 50, 4th paragraph under the Sports heading "...Some sports like football and urban brawl don't care and allow anyone to participate. Others, like some baseball and soccer leagues, are human-only clubs. Efforts continue to get these bans removed."

So your backstory fits that perfectly. And the Astral Perception and Eidetic Memory has a good rationale behind it, so for what it's worth, if I was running a game I'd say take a seat and grab some dice =]

That makes it even better, first Troll pitcher, one of the rare adepts.  Single-handedly Blows the reputation of either in the league.
Everyone knows him, a lot of people like him, most don't.

Opens up some good roleplaying scenarios, too. From getting recognized by some rent-a-cop guarding a warehouse your team is breaking into (Ain't you Casey Jones?! Holy drek, my kid's got your autographed jersey on his wall at home!) to Mr. Johnson double-crossing you out of pure spite for reasons pertaining to your fame/infamy.

A good DM could make that into a great scene.
I thought of his rep like Mark Maguire, He wasn't liked but there were still a few true fans out there.
