Do you have any openings on this perhaps, I would kinda like to give it a shot. I'm a new player to Shadowrun, although I do know the mechanics and whatnot (at least mostly, might have a few questions on some things). I am a vet of D&D (2ed, 3ed, and 3.5) as well as World of Darkness, so I have experience with pen and paper role-plays as well as role-playing in general

And judging by your posting handle, you also seem to be a fan of the Lunar games. ;)

Was actually a happy mistake when I made the online persona, since I wasn't even thinking about the little guy. But yeah, I am a fan of Lunar, hard not to since its a pretty good game ^^

No problem. So far anyone who is not listed have still chance to get in game as an reinforcement etc. Well, the core team is ready to go, so anyone beneath the line would be only 750 karma build. Good background or 20 questions is a must. Also. Id like to ask all participants to assembly their characters into one post (or even better, separated thread in Character creation section, lock it and add the link into your signature). Also remove any redundant posts in this thread to keep it clean and nice. Ill do the same as soon as I get to computer.

When you will work on character background, make it fit somehow into Auburn. Your characters will probably start with some street credit, as 1000 karma build is powerfull than classic 400BP, but your characters, on the beginning, are not responding to standard job channels. Think of them as they retire in Auburn, seeking refuge, home, whatever. Also, feel free to use Seattle 2072 listed locations etc. If you build good feeling, you will be rewarded:
Home ground (Auburn)  quality for free.
Same applies for free contacts. Story is more than points (well no military grade contacts for free  )
...
Initiation approved. max 2 levels. You can choose Magic point instead of metamagic (IMO optional rule)
...
Advanced lifestyle rules are mandatory. Also, if anyone wants to use advanced contact rules, be my guest.
You may like to talk a bit about your roles, but IMO it is nothing bad to have thi setting. Actually...it feels quite right in the light of recent events
...
Please
If you work with chummer, attach the file to your character post, it would make things much easier for me. First, you need to rename the file as *.zip and the it would be possible.
I`ll rename it back to *.chum and voila
...
Like I said it is revival of the old game that died out because of players are almost gone. Current team would start where the recent team had ended. Read the IC at least because Informations there would be all you have in the form of logs and notes. I will leave up to your characters to sort the informations and do the summary
...
Speaking of knowledges...You may be able to find some clues, facts etc. But only propper knowledge skills allow you to see the greater picture and find connections. Dont forget this. I know some GM render knowledges irrelevant in their game. This is not the case. Knowledges are almost as important as active skills.
...
OK. Final say. Build your character as if it is standard 750 karma build.
Core team players(above the line): Mark character as created. Add those 250 karma points as reward. You are free to transfer any number of karma points to cache, using the karmagen ratio 1KP=2500Y.
...
I`ll pick the characters to start with, and we can see some PCs entering the game later. Depends on the full version of character/story. Remember. 1000 KP is probably equivalent to at least 15 fulfilled missions...it means seasoned runner. If you feel that is too demanding for you, go ahead and create standard 750 KP character with no professional record...Ill be fine if that is the case.

20 questions for those who need some help with background (thanx Twitch):

We are shaped by our heritage. Facial features, skin tone, height, build, metatype, even aptitudes are influenced by the genes passed from parent to child. Attitude, too, is taught by parents, informed by their own lives and their cultural heritage. Where does your character come from, what is her lineage, who were her parents, and what did she inherit from them?

Parents can be proud of their children or regret ever bringing them into the world. Some are loving, and some are indifferent. All of them are only metahuman and have their own opinions of their children. Assuming they could speak, what would each of your character's parents say about her?

Many people remember certain historical events for the rest of their lives. For those alive in the first decade of the 21st century, it could be the assassination of John F. Kennedy, or the Tiananmen Square protests, or the fall of the Berlin Wall, or the attack of 11 September 2001. People remember where they were, and what they were doing when they first heard of these events. Shadowrun history has significant events as well, such as the assassination of President Dunkelzahn, the Crash 2.0, and the emergence of technomancers and artificial intelligences. Pick a few events from recent Shadowrun history and ask where the character was at the time, what does he remember about the event, and what was he doing at the time?

Very few people choose to become shadowrunners. More likely, they are thrown into the life by a chaotic and uncaring world. Even if she made a conscious decision to enter the shadows, her decision is influenced by the world around her. How did your character get into shadowrunning, and why did she take that path?

People have control over their own living arrangements. From the child young enough to use crayons and tape all the way up to the elderly shut-in who plasters her walls with family photos and cat pictures, everyone makes their living spaces more personally pleasing. What is your character's living space like, and what has he added or changed to make it his own?

Everyone has beliefs, and many beliefs strong enough to be convictions. Some are religious, some are political, some are social, and some are just about why people are here. What does your character believe in, what are her convictions (if any), and why does she hold them?

Everyone has aspects of their personality that grate on someone. Even the best of friends annoy one another from time to time. The flaws in a person’s character are as important as the qualities. What do you dislike most about your character’s personality?

The Sixth World is considered by many to be spinning out of control. If anyone could exert control over it, it would be the “Big Ten” triple-A mega corps. These transnationals exert a lot of influence on everyday life in the 2070s. Which of the Big Ten does your character hold in the highest (or least low) regard, which does he like the least, and why?

People make acquaintances and friends; we’re hardwired for it. Humans are social animals. This is especially true in the shadows, where often it is not the power you have, but the power you can borrow, and not who you, are but who you know. There’s a story behind each and every one of these relationships. What is the story with your character and her contacts?

It’s Sunday morning, and your character has no commitments until tomorrow afternoon. What does she do for the day?

Your character has a specific skill set, a list of Active and Knowledge skills that define what she knows and her areas of expertise. How did she come to learn those skills, and how did she develop them to those levels?

Everyone has their limits. People can be dark, but most people’s instinct is to draw the line at certain actions and thoughts, and they keep to their own moral convictions. Is there a moral limit that your character enforces on the jobs she takes, and in what shadow work would she refuse to engage?

If you have an Awakened or technomancer character, consider your character’s tradition and streams. Even within the major established magical traditions and the recently emerged technomantic streams, there is room for personalization. Ask yourself what drew her to that particular paradigm, how does it effect the way she views the world and her magic, how does it translate into choice of mentor spirit or paragon, and how does it affect the appearance of the spirits or sprites you conjure or compile?

While acceptance and bias vary from place to place, augmentations— be they bio-, cyber-, gene-, or nanoware—are increasingly common and available in the Sixth World. However, personal technological enhancement is rarely cheap, and many implants that runners possess are restricted. How did your character come to have the enhancements she has, how were they paid for, and what motivated the choices she made (if she did make the choices)?

Life as a shadowrunner is by definition outside the bounds of “normal” life. Shadowrunners do not truly fit into the lives of ordinary people, whether they live in slums or mansions. What does your character think of ordinary life, mainstream culture, and those who abide by it?

Everyone has nightmares. Sometimes, we forget the dream completely on waking. Sometimes, the nightmare haunts us or even recurs. If your character had a lingering nightmare or a deep-rooted fear, what would it be, and why does he find it so terrifying?

People tend to attach sentimental value to items in their possession or people they are close to. They make an effort to keep these close by and safe. What is your character’s “sacred object” or “close one,” and how did they come to be so important to him?

One of metahumanity’s greatest assets is its ability to look toward the future and imagine a better life. Even small children have dreams about what they want to be when they grow up. What did your character want to become when he was a child, and what are his goals now?

A person’s appearance can say volumes about him. From fashion sense, to the colors he prefers, to the way he walks and speaks. Sometimes, his personality determines his appearance, and, sometimes, the appearance he chooses to present the world affects his personality. What does your character look like, and what inspired his choices?

Everyone has a name, but a runner’s street name is a representation of his connection to the shadows. Sometimes runners choose their own moniker, but more often it is given to them as a nickname or earned through some (mis)adventure. How did your character come to be known by his street name?

Sweet. In the interest of curbing my desire to take extra long to write a detailed background I will start by answering 20 questions and then when I get the BG done I will add it.

#1 & 2 Aliah was raised in the greater Seattle area by Muslim with a direct heritage line to royalty in Persia. She inherited strong Persian features and some but not all of the proclivities of a Muslim American raised in the faith. Her own rebellious nature prevents her from fully embracing it and she has been in phase of questioning the values and practices of her family and spiritual community. Her current distinctive style (She wears a Burkha that she has decorated with punk band logos and profanity in a high tech manner that she can change in her hub's personal settings)  reflects her roots and her questioning. Her Parents have very nearly disowned her and would inform the police of her exact location at any given moment if simply asked.  Her mother is slightly more forgiving stating that this is just a phase and at least she is not an orc

3. Crash 2.0  Aliah was still quite young and she only remembers being in a room in the mosque with several armed men at the doors and windows shouting.

4. Aliah came to Shadowrunning as an extension of her inability to back down from a fight and her uncanny ability to walk away from those fights while others need to be carried off. She was and is a bouncer/personal security for band needing these skills and it seemed actually quite natural when a Johnson hired her for her first run, she also learned a few things about being double crossed by a Johnson but manged to not hold that against other paying gigs.. too much

5. Aliah currently shares a living space with an undetermined number of young artists and musicians. As she provides protection services she actually has a bed to call her own and two walls on those walls are images ranging from favorite band logos to street art projects and guns of all types. Noticeably not present are pictures of friends or family.

6. Despite her many appearances to the contrary Aliah is an optimist that believes in a persons ability to grow and change. She feels strongly that People are defined by their actions in life and not social roles or racial history. Despite living in a world with magic and more than its fair share of disparate lifestyles she clings to elements of her Muslim faith and even believes it is her gateway to her adept powers.

7. Negative Qualities .. she is a B*tch. She will say terrible things just to watch a person twitch (example a fellow runner was talking about her missing sister who is a cop and the first thing she thinks of to say is "maybe she is dead in a ditch somewhere") She is unrelenting in this quality and it certainly makes it hard to get close to her

8. The Big Ten are all corporate *sshats that not only should they burn I would hold the match and fan the flames. That being said I have no problem taking their money and fully expect any or all of them to try to kill me afterword.

9. In the list of contacts that Aliah has not burned or been burned by there has always been Viktor a broken down cynical ex runner who now brokers deals. Viktor always gives her jobs and an honest assessment of how screwed she is. He may be part of her cynical outlook on life in the shadows or they may have bonded over it neither one of them thinks about things like feelings long enough to really put a label on it.

10. Given any amount of actual free time its Drink and then fight or the other f word what ever comes first

11. Skills and Knowledge are very organic each one can tell a story. Just in the story so far there are reasons for why she has such high fighting skills, knowledge such as religion Muslim, punk scenes, safe houses and more have been woven in. I tend to take as many skills as I can to eave the story. I am always open to telling more of the story if anyone asks

12. The biggest no is always the "its too good to be true" Murder, Assassination, Sabotage, are all on the table. To date she has refused a job because of terrorist overtones and she has never endangered the life of a child willingly.

13. All aspects of Aliah's adept powers are filtered through her Muslim upbringing. Without her daily prayer she might not have as strong a connection to her powers and her ability to see the sideways world as she calls it.

14. Aliah is mostly meat with only bio augmentations she views her body as pure even with these Bio augmentations and will refuse cyber replacement under all but the most dire of circumstances. She might even consider death before getting a cyberlimb. Bioware only gets a pass because it is a mostly medical procedure and it will eventually die with her.

15. Mainstream culture is for those that have not pierced the veil and seen the dark side of modern society. Anyone who sees consumerism and corporate lust for power will come to the same life as me eventually.

16. This one requires some thought and I will get back to it.  ( I am surprised this stumped me so totally )

17.  Aliah does not have any sort of attachment to material objects she has lost everything she has ever owned at one time or another but she does have a special fondness for her guns reverently caring for them every night.

18. As a child Aliah wanted to be a glamorous pop singer like on the trids as she grew older and more disillusioned with  life her goals became more about setting right the man wrongs within society pushing her further into the fringes of it.

19. Aliah represents so much with her apperance and demeanor. She started as as a theoretical discussion about shadowrun and the middle east, where I figured more of the awakened would be more closely tied to Muslim and Hebrew beliefs (something I still want to build on at some point) and then I read The Taqwacores and started to add the punk elements to the character and now she represents a dichotomy of faith and magic, peace and violence, modern and ancient, thought and action. rebelion and conformity. The stories to be told with her are so many I just get excited thinking about all of them.

20. Aliah means to rise up. I originally took this because I was in a rut for middle eastern style names but as the character has grown so has her ties to the name. I now believe that she has taken it as a means of protest and a call to action to rise up against injustices she sees in culture. She has a real name but I dont know what it is yet.

wow that was fun.  thanks !

All4BigGuns decided to tell me how different points of view we do have. As he insisted on those differences in PMs for a few days in the row, IMO it would be better for both of us to part ways. Since Reiper didn`t posted for a few days, this means Kingbrendarr is moving above ****the line****. This is not personal favour. This just happens people are tent do play games with people who shares simillar point of views.
