Canadian Customs has major issues with stuff from the USA on occasion for some strange reason.  Stuff gets held up from there all the time.  Books, clothing, legitimate DVD movies, you name it...

Kukris from Nepal from the swordsmith that makes them for the Gurkhas, on the other hand, are able to be supplied to my FLGS/Army Surplus Store/Store of Awesome with no issues whatsoever.
That is weird.  Maybe the Kukris get through so easily because they are considered cultural items:-)
Or Canada Customs knows better than to screw with people that do business with Gurkhas.  :P

There is a point to your logic.

And speaking of weapons, just downloaded WAR!. OK, maybe I'm just lowbrow, but it's not THAT bad. And no debates here, we already have enough.

Reading Gone to Texas: A History of the Lone Star State.

Ok so it's for a summer class but it's not really a textbook.  Pretty interesting so far but it's crap I mostly knew already, or at least knew the 'romanticized' versions anyway.

Currently reading "Horns" by Joe Hill and starting to read Hack/Slash by Image Comics. Horns I can recommend especially if you like supernatural redneck-ish revenge stories. Hack/Slash....I'll get back to you on that when I get further into the omnibus. Oh  and Gotham Central from DC comics is a fabulous crime book that deals with the GCPD and their lives and not just the Batman family & rogues gallery.

Started reading the Into the Shadows anthology when I got stuck doing a lot of OT at a traffic checkpoint near the local airport. Moonlighting sucks, and not just the TV show.  My relief (who is also my Lieutenant) saw the cover and gave me an odd look before asking "is that a dragon breathing fire on a helo?"

"Why yes, yes it is". I said deadpan.

When Ghost Story by Butcher shows up in my mailbox, I'm dropping whatever I'm reading and moving to that.

Just finished Dance with Dragons.  Overall I didn't enjoy it was much as I did Storm or Feast, but that's really only because I'm a gigantic Jaime Lannister fan and he wasn't in this one too much.  My wife, conversely, is terribly enamored of Tyrion, Daenerys, and even the bastard Jon Snow, so she loved it (since they were in, like, every other chapter, at least).

Still a fantastic novel, still part of a fantastic series, but there were only a few chapters where I felt really interested the way that I did in previous books.  It's no one's fault but mine for having such favoritism (which is, of course, asking for trouble in a Martin book since he kills folks willy-nilly)...but it felt weird when I finished the book and realized that, for the most part, the character I'd glommed onto the most were Asha and Ser Barristan Selmy.  When my emotions range from mild disdain to outright scorn for most of the POV characters, just because of where my loyalties lie, it makes it a little tougher to really get into a novel.   ;)

Anathem by Neal Stephenson. Audiobook to be honest. It's 28 discs!

Got and finished "Ghost Story".

Or, as I like to call it:  The Dresden Files:  "The Nut Punch Edition".  Yes, that's in comparison to Changes.

That's saying a lot!

I read Diamond Age last year and really liked it.  Do you recommend Anathema?  Thanks!
