"So people, is there anything to report? Remember, I will try not to send messages during the meeting, as I want to focus on the conversation and also to lower the chances that some of his bodyguards could snoop our encrypted channel. But stay sharp; we can't let anything go wrong in this operation."

First thing same was concerned was if he ordered some reinforcements, hidden nodes could be his thing so how to make sure there are no surprises

I think using a white noise generator or a jammer would only be appropriate, but will it actually help or lead to our advantage being diminished? Omar Can you think of a way to get them blocked without impairing our capabilities? I personally just haves some physical ideas like ordering something and using the surprise.

Have I been hearing rumblings about hacked accounts and data bombs? I can try defusing if you want.

Cursor had finished crossbow maintenance and sat with it holstered on his back.

Security supervisor cornered Sam as you've enter. You got the room for free. But I won't allow illegal weaponry here. Scanners got mad the moment he entered. If there will be any troubles. PuebSec will close the bar based on that. Talk to him. Now.

If any of you got anything larger than light pistol that isn't protected from metal/weapons/cyber detectors (count radar into that). The above goes for you too. For anything that goes over the limits, I assume you leave it with Omar.
Sorry for a small delay ;)

The executives brawl

Quote from: OOC
Assuming that heavy weapon had been taken out, the following happens.

Erik's car parked his Eurocar Westwind 3K before the club. Fast scan revealed passive car node and passive commlink node. There are lots of other nodes around, so Omar made sure to tag them so they wouldn't be lost in the crowd. From previous experience seeing the radios on the shoulders of each guard you understand they're using plain radio frequencies for communication, without matrix connection.
There is no communication between them.

Physically Erik is a tall, heavily built men and wearing actioner armored clothing and real leather jacket. He took a careful look around before entering, speaks something quietly to the guards and leads them in. Both stay in the entrance without going inside, but positioning themeselves to have a good look inside. They stay talking to the bar security. Erik goes in asking for Mr. Cathay. He is promptly led toward your private room.

All right Mr. Cathay. What's the matter? Erik sits sizing up Fractal. He failed to see Sam in the corner or at least seems not to notice him.

Sam stays in the dark Corner holding his Taser ready to use. He controls his breathing so to make it if not unnoticeable with the latest hearing enchanters then at least indistinguishable from Fractals.
He sees how fractal takes out the White nose generator and puts it on the table, when he turns it on this room is effectively cut of from the outside, what is in this room, stays in this room. Now he just needs to wait.

Will be fun watching Him use his magic on this man.

All right Mr. Cathay. What's the matter? Erik sits sizing up Fractal. He failed to see Sam in the corner or at least seems not to notice him.

Fractal had spent his last half hour building up Johnathan Cathay persona. By the time Erik arrived, Johnathan was the one at the table, and Fractal was the director behind his actions. This cover fitted him like a glove.

"Mr. Fjordson, it's a pleasure to meet you." A large smile forms into the changeling face. "I'm very glad you made up your mind and choose to come. Please, be welcomed. I can bet this meeting can end well for both of us."

The false executive adjust his position in the chair, and put both hands above the table. A gesture intended to show he has nothing hidden, but hinting that one's movements are a little bit too precise. Fractal calculates how much he wants Erik to pay attention to other "clues" he sent him, and not on the details he may miss.

"I'm sorry about the abrupt call earlier, but I couldn't introduce myself properly at the time; it would spoil our little chat. I'm with Nissan, but it was not Nissan will that anyone knows about this conversation. I hope you understand."

Fractal produces the white noise generator and puts it by the table. "I also hope you understand this privacy measures. Private talks are not to be shared, agreed?"

"Now, let's talk business, shall we? Mr. Fjordson, I am aware that the Bow Mar plant will have a difficult time trying to meet Nissan's requirements. The pieces you sell us grants Rocky Mountain Dynamics a sub-intended profit, and the contract we run at the time is... not very advantageous to the facility. RMD is not in the most secure financial position, and it's current situation is unsteady. You must be under pressure, and that's really understandable."

"The thing is... We have a lot of consideration for you, Mr. Fjordson. We like you. And we don't like to see a bright man as yourself in a hard situation, specially one that is not deserved. Business usually is not fair."

I got an intuition that tells me that RMD and Nissan negotiations will soon come to an end. RMD cannot provide Nissan requirements in schedule and sustain itself; it's not your fault, but you are the one that will lose more with the given situation.

So, I caught me and my friends thinking: "How can we get things right? How can we create a situation in which we, as business men, will keep doing our deed, maintain our negotiations and our profit margin an yet give an easier time to RMD manager?" You know, Mr. Fjordson, there are other things that Nissan can have done besides being supplied of engine pieces... There's also publicity, and in this field, there's something you could do for us.

After a brief, dramatic pause, the fake suit continues:

"If, by any chance, RMD facility would be assaulted, and the assault prevented by it's excellent security and by our Doberman models, well, delays would be understandable. Even a halted production due to minor sabotage. Nissan wouldn't blame RMD, and our contract would remain intact, shining to the possibility of great agreements between our firms. Am I being understood?
There would be no problem to the Bow Mar plant if they have a sabotage attempt. Dealing with this issues can make things go slower. We would understand. Maybe we could be shocked by the news, and would even help the plant in reorganizing themselves. In our beneficence, Nissan could even donate an interesting sum to one of its most valuable partner firms in order to help it sustain itself in it's time of need. Accidentally, our corporation would use the situation to prove our security drones efficiency, in a real world situation. Are you following me, Mr Fjordson?"

Fractal's grin is as wide as Cheshire Cat's.

Cursor went into VR, feeling more at home here than the coffin motel.
"Right, Are those security accounts you made secure? I'd prefer Admin, of course.
If you guarantee Logging on isn't going to bring own a house of cards on me I'll get to work on that Data bomb. Does it need Decrypting too?"

The file protected by the Bomb is encrypted, Ill expect IC in encryption, if this is trap...and it almost for sure is. Ill second you in possible combat and I can run stealth or any other programs for you to save your capacity, if needed. Ill use the security account, you take the Admin...well I think from Admin account you should be able to defuse that bomb without risk...

"Heh, thanks but capacity isn't something I have to worry about."

After changing logging on Cursor rearranges some data, 5 seconds later the encryption is open to him to.

Right better get cracking.

Will be fun watching Him use his magic on this man.

You could cut the tension in the air like like butter with a hot knife. Sam was listening so carefully that the art of Fractals speech had mad him misstep, but fortunately he was not the only one to be under the veil of astonishment, this charismatic talker had overreached his expectation of the humanly possible. You could see that Eric was out of his normal self-confidant self, he had some doubts, who would not, but Fractals magic was one hard to resist.

Matrix universe - RMD node.

The RMD employee that approached the assembly programming construct had been in fact Cursor's masking program hiding from the node's firewall.

The bomb attached to the construct had an amount of deadly code that could shred his brain to pieces if unblocked. But it had a flaw. Unbelievable as it goes, or maybe in confirmation to Omar's worries about honeypotting the stuff it had the flaw that glared.
The simple IF/THEN construct had to be overwritten to give TRUE aneswer on whatever passcode given. and with a change as simple as that the bomb was disarmed and deleted.

The copy of user console appeared before the Cursor's icon and presented it's options as it would to a legitimate user:

  • assembly operations
  • inventory control
  • raw material control
  • delivery and shipment schedules
  • public assembly node AR management
  • employee task lists
  • employee mail

Lunar Nocturne - private room

Erik sat straight. Cautious. Let me rephrase Mr. Cathay to see if I am following.

You say you got an intuition that my negotiations with Nissan will soon end. You also say that there is a chance that the RMD facility will be assaulted and when this would happen the Doberman's we have received from Nissan will help to defend it. Moreover in such case Nissan would donate  to the RMD for providing such good publicity. What sum we're talking about?

You say you're from Nissan and that Nissan would deny our meeting whatever its result. You're most certainly not a Nissan representative I am used to talking. Would you be so kind as to remind me his name?

It seemed that you could hear how intense Eric's head was working on this whole thing.

When he voiced his doubts Sam quickly made a small comment to Fractal

SubVocal " Give me a signal and I will drop him. For a signal I would suggest asking him if he minds a smoke."

The hit didn't connect, that was okay. Now Eric shifted positions and tried an attack. Sam showed his preoccupation, and the kid was right in thinking like this.

Hell, this dance would be a little more tense than imaginated. Also, a little more interesting. Fractal liked challenges.

"Mr. Cathay" tone changed. He seemed annoyed; not offended, but it's as if a kid had doubted his statement that he was older. It would amuse him, but not in a comfortable way.

"Mr. Fjordson, it's the second time this day you doubt my words. Even though it's just the first time I set my eyes physically on you. Your logic statements are good logic statements, I will grant you that, but this is not a mathematical or philosophical class. A perfect logic is not a safe argument. I am not one to be annoyed."

Time to change roles. Fractal needed to attack, but in a way that the fist would seems to be Fjordson's. He needed Eric to feel like he was the agressive one trying to punch someone stronger than him, and realizing his mistake.

Mr. Cathay sights again, filling the place with his perturbed presence. "You know, Eric, you can leave this place anytime if you want. If you do it now, things will just run as they would if you haven't come; even though you are being a really inconvenient and inappropriate  guest, I will blame it on your stress and bad temper. We may still talk, but I would advise you to change your manners. Or else I will judge you being so impolite not just a situational thing, and I'm not one to stand quietly to chosen bad manners."

It was a bet. A risky bet, but Fractal was confident of his art.

Anyway, he had a taser right at hand if the need arises, and was already planning how to dismiss the guards if the situation calls for it.
