Isn't the scanner supposed to run an opposed test against Kitten's SIN rating?
Places the onus on the scanner rolling the dice and not the SIN rating itself.

ie SIN rating 3
Scanner Rating 6

Scanner rolls 6 dice and needs to hit threshold of 3 to bust the SIN.

If I'm wrong on that, then my PC's at weekend table top games are getting away too easily.

Using a Forged ID
Whenever a character uses her fake identity to pass an ID check
(whether for buying a dress or crossing a border), she must make an
Opposed Test pitting her fake ID’s rating against the rating of the
verification system. The side achieving the most successes wins. If both
sides achieve the same number of successes, the verifying system instructs
the operator to further “interrogate” the individual offering the
ID. The operator’s display screen will then flash a series of questions
based on the bearer’s history that the bearer must answer correctly. If
the individual using that ID answers any question incorrectly, the verifier
rejects the ID.

Noise moves out of the house, leaving the searching to the others as she heads back to the car to nurse her wounds.  She really hopped the Tinnies wouldn't should up as she only had room for one, and she didn't trust this hacker well enough to leave him behind.  She dug another pack of cigarettes from the glovebox, lit it, and activated the auto-injector in her armour.  As the waves of pleasure from the drug washed over her,  she started to unwind,

What drug?

Well, that's 4K completely wasted.  :(  Next time I won't buy anymore high rating fake SINs if they're busted that quickly.

Let's try some out of the box thinking.  I assume that false negatives will show up from time to time.  No software is perfect.
FYI: the part in Chicago is actually true.

It was an unlucky roll, the scanners only so good because mass murder occurred

Yea the SIN burning is quite harsh by RAW, I prefer the Scanner Rating x2 (Fake SIN/Liscence Rating) myself but anyway :)

But yea, false positives happens probably all the time, it should be possible to talk your way out of this.

Had a discussion about this before on the Rules forum... general consensus there seemed to be that
a test of SIN-scanner-rating x 2 with threshold equal to Fake-SIN-rating is probably better. (At hits == rating, further questioning is required).

Rolling Fake-SIN-rating amount of dice really isn't playable imo.

Edit: Ninja'd by Art, damned pizza delivery my post!
But yeah, I second what he wrote.

Space finds some wiring leading into the walls as he investigates the self destruct.

I assume it's an unusually wiring, since everything is wireless these days. Can Space savely disconnect the wiring, using demolishen skills or does he have to find the other end the the wires?

Demolitions can attempt a disarm, -2 for not knowing what explosive it is.
