good sir i have been playing FANV and have yet to find one of those. O_O want has.

Also, adding power fists to my punching adept that rolls a riddiculous dice pool to punch would be perfect.

Power fist weapon focus, anyone?

My group had better never find out about those...

The weapon I'm talking about in F:  NV is called the "Ballistic Fist", and is very, very sick!  Especially when you give one to everyone's favorite Lipstick Lesbian Companion!

You can get one from the Brotherhood of Steel for example, if you are in their favour . .

Doesn't really work with the SR rules though i think . .
One Test to see if you connect, then one test for the punching damage and then one test for the shooting damage with the same net hits of the punching damage . .
But because of the no hit zones model, you always get full armor and because there are no coup the grace rules you don't get more damage . .

Well, so much for punching people in the nose to shoot them in the face at the same time.

And it would have made the face shooting for money that much easier!

Guess I'll just have to grab their head and let the Cybergun Implant do it's thing...

Well, you don't have to make a second attack test to see if the shot hits, you can simply use the successfull attack test from the punch and use the net hits from the punch to the shooting stuff test . . and i guess the target would not get a second dodge either . .

the power fist from the fallout games doesn't seem too out of reach. just a basic set of pneumatics with a sensor attached. you could even begin modifying it to suit what your fighting. the design itself is practically begging for a taser upgrade, much less memory metals that become spikes or a blade.
A blade sounds like a forarm snap blade (SR4A p314) to me.

She gets worryingly happy when you tell her to use close combat weapons...

btw, a shotgun fist shows up in the anime mnemosyne (the series is seriously NSFW). Iirc, the use breaks the wrist of the user...

Because, honestly, the Hardliner Gloves are pretty lame.
Hardliner gloves have the advantage of being fairly subtle.  They look like heavy gloves, perfect for a lot of circumstances, and probably wouldn't interfere with the operation of a firearm, unlike Brass Knuckles, which you'd have to swap out in order to handle anything else.

Up close, they'd be obviously weird looking and attract attention, but at any kind of distance, they'd just be heavy gloves that could be worn for a lot of reasons in a lot of different places.

Also, if you buy the right type, they also keep your hands warm.  Always a good thing.  But, then again, I'm Canadian, so that WOULD come to mind for me.  :P

I don't have the book right in front of me, but I don't recall the description listing them as bulky - if I recall, they were described as "fine leather gloves" with a hard insert along the lines of the carbon fiber knuckles that are pretty popular in tac gloves, these days.

I could be wrong...my Mage wears them with his suit, so I'll have to reconsider if they look like big bulky things. He may be a Troll, but he's a stylish Troll!

I've seen something similar to what they're described as in a store that sells security and emergency services equipment, and they're effectively gloves with thick knuckles.

Yep, those are similar to what I've seen.  And thinner leather.

Those are Wiley-X tac gloves - you can probably tell which President's face is on a coin by touch with those bad boys on, and they're stippled for a better grip (ever try to grab someone when wearing smooth leather gloves?).

Good tactical gloves are tough, but don't impede dexterity. Really good tac gloves let you search a mope without taking them off, so they're good with tactile stuff.

Some are kevlar lined (not ballistic, but cut protection).

The carbon fiber knuckle "protectors" are gravy.  ;D

Brass knuckles, fingerprint protection, and you can still shoot an Ares Predator.  It's a good item to have, even if you don't have much in the way of CQB skills.

I've seen a decent set at my FLGS/Army Surplus Store if you don't have a security/emergency services store in your area.
