This is thread for the first mission for the game Out of the Frying Pan, please use the quote option for OOC chatter, as I don't typically have an OOC thread for my games. rolls should be done with invisible castle. I will be posting the initial dialogue tomorrow night. If your characters name is listed in the cleared for play section of the characters thread, please feel free to set the scene for where your character is at and what he is doing. If you have placed a character in the characters thread and have not received your bonus points or a comment from me please let me know and I will get to it immediately. Until you have been approved and set your sceene I will not bring your character into the game as it lets me know that you are ready for play. As far as posting style goes I don't care the color but please use Italics for thought, bold for speech, and a html style designator for com traffic designating the intended recipient, like so <@team>. remember you can not com someone until you have there Access ID and please for the hackers in the group list if you are in hidden mode, otherwise I will assume you are in private.

I forgot to specify, but Operator has his commlink on and he's running it in private/passive mode.

Auburn, 6:03 AM.

The morning sun slowly began to creep up over the eastern horizon, casting its first rays of light into the district of Auburn. Most of the district's population were employed in some form of industrial occupation, giving this corner of the metroplex the distinct feel of a blue-collar town.

Max's Ironworks was sparsely populated that morning, and Operator was there to enjoy a bit of relative seclusion in his workout session. One charming facet of Max's was its complete lack of computerized training equipment and cardio machines; the aging proprietor had installed a circular track in his gymnasium. There were also plenty of jump ropes for those individuals looking to up their heart rates.

Clad in a white shirt and blue gym shorts, the Asian man of average height jogged along the track, sneaking a glance at his wrist-mounted biomonitor every other minute.

Tacoma 8:00 am (a more civilized hour.)
It is a rainy morning, like it does more often that not these days in the Seattle Area. Thank god for that, the rain almost washes to stench from the air here is Tacoma. I am Korban McNaulty and I am on the most important hunt of my morning, good cup of joe. I hear there is a new coffee place opening down town. I wonder if they have real coffee or the soy stuff like most everyone else. Some days I would kill for a cup of the real stuff, but you get what you can get these days. So, I am here at the Soy Bean trying to stomach another soy latte and enjoy the rain. The city seems so peaceful on mornings like this.

Everett, 06:40 am

It was raining when Slip woke up, but that didn't bother her in the least.  She bit into her morning meal bar and dressed in her jumpsuit for work. She boot's up her commlink and checks her messages and schedule for the day. "Only one drop off today huh? Shouldn't take more than 4 hours... hopefully something else will come up."  She snaps her taser into the suit's quickdraw holster, grabs a few extra clips just in case and stretches before putting on the leather jacket, smartpack, and gloves. She hooks up the battery for her apartment to charge while she's out and about. As she makes her way down stairs exchanging pleasantries with a few neighbors on their way to work. before stepping out into the rain she pulls the suit's hood up and affixes her respirator before taking off at a fair jog toward her pick up point.

As you finish your last lap around the track a familiar icon of Muzzle appears in the lower right hand side of your field of vision. Its a text message labeled Job offer. As you pull it up the message reads. Operator, I have a potential job offer for you. unfortunately I have had to pull some strings to get some outside talent to come with, my current stable of employees has been lackluster lately. I will be setting up a pre-meet for you and your associates at the Alabaster Maiden on the corner of E. Mercer and 12th avenue, downtown at 7:00 tonight, the reservation is under the name Keven Swanson. I arranged a private VIP room for you all to get to know each other for a bit. The meet with Mr. Johnson our employer, isn't until tomorrow night so we have some time. If the group seems like a no go then let me know and I will have them trimmed to your liking. I'll transmit data on Mr. Johnson tomorrow when you give me the green. Oh, and one more thing. If this isn't to your liking let me know with some lead time so I can get a group together to go in your place, but I think you will like this one pays decent risk seems low. If you have any more questions just let me know and if not I'll hear from you later on tonight. You push the notice off to the side as you come to a halt just off the side of the track. a Large window looking outside to the street, just starting to bustle with morning commuters greats you as you look up to the sky you notice dark clouds slowly gathering, looks like rain.

As you exit a back ally and cross a street heading to your drop off point the icon of Shaker appears in the lower right hand corner of your vision. The subject reads simple Job. Pulling it up to the center of your vision it reads. An old friend of mine, is looking for some talent. I told him your it. he set up a pre-meet with his boy Operator at the Alabaster Maiden, downtown 7:00 tonight. reservation is under the name Kevin Swanson. looks like something did come up. Clearing your vision you continue on your way, a group of orcs setting on the street corner seem to be eyeing you a bit to closely when one of them calls out to you. "Oy! little explorer, where you going on a fine day like this. Just another day on the streets of Seattle, as you continue on, he calls out to you again.  "You a courier, little explorer, if so me and my friends got a package for you."

If there's one thing worse than trying to find a decent cup of coffee its having a too slow of a morning, when the rent is coming up. The rain outside seems relentless and the news reports say it will turn to heavy acid fall later this afternoon, as if the stuff falling outside was clean or something. An unknown Icon appears in your lower field of vision, to most the icon would have looked simply like a hole into something very dark but to you its sinister nature is readily accessible, its a sight straight down the dark passage of a gun barrel. The subject seems harmless enough thought the icon does not. A job from an old friend. Curiosity can be a bitch if she wants to and you open the message after checking it to make sure its not trapped with some sort of self extracting worm, just because your curious doesn't mean your stupid. The message reads, "I know you don't know me but a fellow shield of yours by the name of Allen White, said that not only can you be trusted but if someone needed someone found in this city that you where the one to call. So I am. I am putting together a group of people with varying skill sets to complete a job, that you may wish to help with. I'll understand if you don't wish to. The pre-meet with the group is set up for the Alabaster Maiden, at 7:00. You can find it at the corner of E. Mercer and 12th Avenue, downtown. If things are to your liking with the group my friend Operator, who you will be meeting will have the details for the meet with your new client Mr. Johnson. By the way my name is Muzzle and I look forward to working with you more in the future. I thank you for your time.

Gazing upwards at the sky, Operator shook his head at the darkening clouds. Just another argument for indoor exercise; I'll stick to a different kind of shower.

Accessing his 'link, he pulled up a set of directions guiding him from the northwest corner of Auburn to the Alabaster Maiden's address and bookmarked them for later use. It was a simple enough trip to make, thirty kilometers' worth of riding from Max's to the heart of Seattle via I-5. After inputting a quick reply to his correspondent's message, Operator departed from the Ironworks to catch a shower at home.

<@Muzzle V.> How anal-retentive is Alabaster's security staff with weapons checks? If they like to cause trouble over the issue of a firearm's presence, checked or not, I will leave it at home for the sake of good business.

Re:Meet-I will be there. Who do I ask for? I think they would look at me funny if I asked for Mr. Johnson.
Do a quick data search for the Alabaster Maiden.

<@Operator, from Muzzle V.> They are a higher classed establishment I've never had a problem with my concealed carry license but they do have a decent MAD scanner on the front door and they tend to be particular about who they let in to the place, reservation or not. I set up the pre-meet so you can see who is willing to move out of their comfort zones to get the job done right. There are 5 others that will be showing up to this. Its your choice on who makes it to the final stage or not.

<@Korbin, from Muzzle V.> My apologies, the reservation is under the name Kevin Swanson, and just as a note this is a pre-meet with the team that may or may not be given the opportunity to meet with Mr. Johnson. As many of you will not know each other it is best you get to before seeking a job, the less surprises the better and I tend to only represent professionals, so this meeting is a must. Since I have had to call on several outside sources I would like them checked out before sending them to one of my contacts, representing me. From what I have heard of you this will not be a problem. Once again, I apologize for the slip on giving you the reservation name it will not happen again.

Korbin will look up the Alabaster Maiden's Matrix site and do a little data search to add to his personal knowledge(Seattle region). He is looking for there dress code, weapons policy, the kinds of people that frequent the place, floor plan and other general info.

You pull up the matrix address for the Alabaster Maiden, the icon of a large Statue made of alabaster appears before you. the site seems to have a guest ID that is usable for anyone that wishes to look into the node and into the club itself. As you start to browse the site it looks to be a higher class establishment, with a business casual dress code. This weekend is a show by a famous magician David Koochin tickets are on sell now but quantities are limited. Self proclaimed as one of Downtown Seattle's must see attraction the club has the statue of a woman just outside in its courtyard. The Statue is claimed to be of Gabriella Dematto, who entrapped herself during early experiments with magic shortly after the awakening of the world. It is claimed that the statue still resonates with magic and if you watch it long enough it will move. There are many links to several sights that have proof that this is actually True. Most people come to touch the statue and it is reported to confer good luck to those that do. The prices from the menu seems to be in the upper range and many non soy products can be found as well as casual dinning items that range from and appetizer costing about 25-30 Neyen to full dinners costing 75 to 150 depending on your taste. Teh music seems to be modern and offer several nodes for more eclectic tastes, as well as full holographic dance floor for those who frequent the club. The club has a membership that can get you into the club every time others are brought in on a case by case basis, unless you have a reservation and then you can skip the queue.

<@Muzzle V.> Understood, I will be thorough.

Operator returned to his warehouse, slipping upstairs to the supervisor's quarters for a shower. It was a quaint little fixture that reminded him of his Kyoto apartment, being one of the sparse comforts that he could enjoy with his sometimes thrifty budget. One brisk and thorough shower later, Operator set about his morning tasks of cleaning his firearms and sweeping the vast warehouse floor.

He never enjoyed being idle, and if there was spare time to be had, well.. he could always indulge himself with a VR game or two once his morning tasks were complete.

Quote
At this point, Operator will bide his time with cleaning and general hobbies until approximately 4:00 PM. He will leave from the Auburn warehouse wearing a passable set of clothing (flats) underneath his lined coat (6/4) taking his Walther Secura Kompakt in a concealable holster. It will be loaded with gel rounds, and Op will carry one other clip of gel ammo and two clips of regular rounds.

While riding his bike, he will be wearing his Securetech PPP helmet (+0/+2) with the lined coat. That's his bike helmet. Safety matters, and it is UCAS DOT approved. :)

He will visit a clothing store in downtown Seattle and seek out a set of clothes to purchase in the 100-200 nuyen range under his Mamoru Yamamoto alias. For style, he'll pick anything that would make him look nice in an upscale club scene while retaining some level of anonymity. Unless bad traffic gets in his way, he plans to arrive at the Alabaster Maiden sometime around 6:00 PM wearing those new threads.

For the purpose of OOC, We can use quotes without an author or use the author as OOC. If you need to quote someone particular you can nest the tags as well. For me it is just easier than trying to keep two threads open.

Do they have weapons policy listed?

No they don't so you can probably assume it is UCAS Standard. if you have the proper licencing you will be fine, but nothing obvious since it is a high-class establishment.

@Operator, N/P. traffic is not bad and the suite will cost you 125 Neyen. you should display your fake license on your com's Profile while travelling or entering the club to avoid any imperial entanglements. You will arrive at 6:00 as others get close to that time I will make a post for your arrivals.

Korbin will spent some time tracking down info on this Operator and Muzzle V. people. Starting with a call to Allen White. Getting background info so he has some idea what he is walking into.

Korbin: 12:30 PM

After trying several times in the morning and checking around on the matrix for either Operator or Muzzle V. and finding nothing in the public databases, you finally get a hold of Allen, as he picks up the phone he looks tired, as if he had just gotten out of bed. "Korbin! How's it going? You on for a quest later this week?"
