I am working on creating handouts to help my players build their characters for a SR4 game based in Denver.  I have attached the first part of these handouts to this post.  The second part consists of the two pages on Denver in the Atlas of the Sixth World, which I won't post here.

The Third section will be a list of Denver related contacts including coyotes, smugglers, gangs, and influential groups.  I will be using the rules presented in Runners Companion for groups as contacts.  Right now I'm in the brainstorming stages for creating this section.

I am also thinking about adding a fourth section on places to go in Denver.  Especially where the shadowy might live to give the players a better idea where they might want their characters to set up shop.

Right now I'm looking for feedback/help with brainstorming and if anyone notices anything that seems to be glaring.  My players have played 4th ed SR before so much of the intro stuff has not been included.

(The image quality has been reduced to fit the file-size requirements of this forum.  My players will be getting better quality.  It is from Shadows of North America.)

I haven't taken a look at your handouts yet (on my way out the door to do some other stuff), but just as a friendly heads up, Denver gets lots of new info in Spy Games.  You may or may not want to integrate all of it at once since it looks like you've already done a ton of awesome work -- but just figured you'd wanna know it was there, and beggin' to be used!   ;D

I started with Spy Games in mind, and I have several weeks to integrate it before my next game (Rotating GMs and I have another session on my current game before starting this one.).

Thanks for the heads up but I think i'll be fine.

Back from lunch.   ;)  Handout looks pretty solid!  Nothing jumps out at me as too big a change (with your couple of house rules, etc), and it looks like the groundwork of a solid campaign.  450 BP is always nice, not least of which because it frees up a solid 225 for attributes (200 always feels anemic to me, when trying to make a well-rounded character).

Here is what I'm working on so far for my contacts.  Mind you I'm still in the early brainstorming parts of this and just am getting an outline.
Denver Contacts
Here I have worked up some contact listings that might be useful for you to have.

[Edited: 10:07 - I added a fuller listing of what I would like to touch on in my contacts listing.  I would still like to get a few more magical groups listed particularly to provide player magic users routes to find an initiation group.  Contacts may be added moved or removed.]

Basically I'm looking for more ideas for general contacts that might be more useful in Denver, and Denver Magical Groups.

Glad you found the sector map from SoNA. I was about to scan it and send it to you now that I have a chance. Nice work on the handout. Good quality stuff like I used to make.

Nah, keep everything in the same one. Streamlines the forums. The GM's handbook from the old GM screen has a lot of good contact information.

Here are the contact listings that I've started to fill out so far.  I'm not going for the full book-style contact listing.  Instead giving a short synopsis on who that contact is and any relevant information.  If the contact is written up in a book I will list the book and page number.  For group contacts I will also be listing cost modifiers for the group.

Getting Around
Coyote
Sector: <any>
Affiliation: <any>
Uses: Smuggling, guide, border crossing
Coyotes are people smugglers.  They move people over borders getting them from point A to point B for a price and without the attention of law enforcement.
Denver being such a divided city makes for great business opportunities for those that can find and exploit the often literal holes in the walls.

Taxi Driver
Ref: p 13 CA
Sector: <any>
Affiliation: <any>
Uses: Guide, smuggling, border crossing, transport
In the sixth world many cabs are actually drone operated vehicles, but not all.  Small time operators as well as some “secure” services operate with a real metahuman in the driver's seat.  Also a real person in the car helps reduce vandalism.
A cabbie is a good person to know when you want to get around in any city.  Often they know the place better than even grid guide.  In Denver a cabbie is a good friend to have as they know the quickest ways across the borders and how to get across with the least amount of fuss or inspection.

Bus Attendant
Sector: <any>
Affiliation: <any>
Uses: Street information, border crossing, transport
Nearly all buses in the sixth world are drone operated, but many operators and municipalities keep metahuman “drivers” or attendants on board in order to reduce vandalism and to act as a guard and occasionally as a guide.
Its long hours, boring work, with little pay but an attendant can often help you get on a bus and many buses get fast-tracked across border checks, making a quick bus ride an attractive option for the shadowy.

Sky Taxi Pilot
Sector: <any>
Affiliation: Usually Corporate
Uses:  Smuggling, transportation as a big favor, info on clients
An Air or Sky Taxi is a Blimp, Helo, or T-Bird pilot that runs the important people between the towers in the clouds over all the hustle and filth of the city below.
He knows the airways and procedures to get around Denver by air and may be able to make a side trip or two for the right price.

Getting Stuff
T-Bird Jammer
Sector: <any>
Affiliation: Smugglers, nation of birth, anyone willing to pay
Uses: Smuggling, transportation, border-crossing
This is one of the famed Denver thunderbird smugglers that blasts through the mountains and canyons surrounding Denver on a tricked out LAV avoiding patrols and scanners to deliver the goods to where they are going.

Getting Info

Dragons
Ghostwalker
Sector: All of them
Affiliation: Ghostwalker
Uses: Missions, information
No, you can't actually take GW as a contact, nor will I allow a PC to start with a contact that works directly with or is part of GW's circle, at least that the Player or Character knows about.

My organization listings are going to be in a different format.  You can take contacts who are affiliated with an organization but most of these organizations are just too big to be considered a group contact that any PC could afford.

Major Corps
Ares
Sector: Mainly UCAS with some CAS and holdings throughout the rest of the city.
With the expulsion of Aztechnology and its many consumer-goods suppliers, Ares has been pushing hard to fill in the gap and uses Denver as a test market.  While Ares is often associated with the UCAS(also to a lesser degree the CAS), an association Ares PR works against, the company has been attempting to sell it merchandise, especially miltech in other nations to expand its operations with Denver being one of the front lines of this work.  Recently, there have been shake ups with Ares' Knight Errant getting the security contract for the UCAS sector while losing it for the CAS to Lone Star.

Aztechnology
Sector: None
Aztechnology is forbidden from operating inside Denver and its employees are forbidden to enter.  This edict was passed down by Ghostwalker who has on several occasions enforced it by eating those who broke it.
Formerly Aztlan held a sector of its own (now the western half of the CAS sector) but was forcibly removed, along with Aztechnology, when Ghostwalker came to town.  They have been trying very hard to get back ever since.
Aztechnology's holdings where taken over and placed under control of the Anasazi Holding Company which is still slowly working to sell off parts of that corporate empire.  AHC's work is slowed by requirements, given by Ghostwalker, that the pieces must be sold to either a locally owned company or one run by Denver natives.
AHC itself might make a good contact afflilation as it has blocked several attempts by Megacorp shell companies to purchase former Aztech holdings.

EVO
As Yamatetsu, Evo had almost no presence in Denver.  However, with its emergence as EVO the company has been attracted to the Hub's metahuman communities.  Denver is also seen as a good place for EVO to expand into the PCC and Sioux markets.
EVO and its subsidiaries have been taking advantage of the long standing glut of construction contracts started with the rebuilding of the old Aztlan sector by the CAS, and then aided by the merger of the PCC and Ute sectors with the infrastructure and utilities in the former Ute sector being brought up to PCC standards, and finally the rush of buildings with the Olypmic games last held in Denver.  Currently they are looking forward to the long awaited demolition and rebuilding of the Aurora Warrens.
Evo Gardens, formerly Yamatetsu's old headquarters in the UCAS portion of the Hub, has been reworked to a sprawling complex of office towers with green terraces and a hub for the Denver metahuman community with many shops catering to the specific needs of metahumans.

So, the question I have to ask is:  "Where does Ghostwalker keep his ketchup factory for when Aztechnology agents try to get back into Denver?"
