"I didn't... she was just being a drekhole.... Thank you..."

He was just staring at the ceiling.

"Don't thank me... There's simply no need to make this uglier than it needs to be, I'm not an evil person. That performance earlier, it's all just business, I'm sure you understand.", she lied with the sad kind of smile of someone who knows how stupid but nevertheless required this whole business was.
"I'll be drugging you and don't expect you to wake again. But before that, I'd like to give you the chance to record a farewell message to Tanya. Here's what I'm planning to do, I'm certain you'll understand it's for the best."

She explained that she was going to give her some of the money and tell Tanya that she was part of the team he'd been in charge of, how he had stayed behind to buy enough time for her to escape the fight with a group of Ancients, how she was the only one left alive only thanks to her father's heroic sacrifice, how such violence couldn't be fought with more violence but only with law and order.
The message needed to be the kind of message recorded before going on a mission in case things went wrong and would make the recipient place a lot of trust the one who delivered it.

He agrees and does his best on the recording, it comes out heartfelt.

Amdromeda's call to the junk yard left her with a promise to take a look, "I think it's on an old data chip round here, I'll get back to yah."

Silk recorded the message, listening to the man's last words to his only child.
When he stopped talking and signaled he was done, she gently gave him the shot of Slab.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure she gets the message. The drugs will take a couple of minutes to kick in."
He nodded, having taken his peace with his fate.
"I'll stay with you until you go. Nobody should spend their last waking minutes alone. Why don't you tell me about your daughter in the meanwhile, Ron. If I were in your team, considering how much you obviously care for her, I'd know some things about her... don't want these last details to mess things up."
Silk watched and listened quietly with genuine interest as the man who shot her, talked about his daughter and went to sleep peacefully and with hope in his heart.

When it was over, she thought about how easy it would have been to make those last moments of his conscious life a living hell, just by telling him that he'd given her everything she needed to get hooks in his daughter so deep that she'd do everything she 'd suggest to her. But to her own amazement, she felt he'd suffered enough.

PM @Noise: "Sure glad that's over, don't want to stay in this place much longer than necessary. We don't have to stick around and wait for the rest you know, they can deliver the body back to LJ soon enough; we could go see if the safe house is... well, safe."

Noise finishes the last cig of the pack and curses. She hated running out. She didn't care too much about what happened to their leader, she was just more interested in getting back to her apartment and taking a nice long bath.  These all nighters could really get to you sometimes.

@Silk: Finally. I'll be ready at the car.

Noise headed back to the car and stowed her gear before jumping back in the drivers seat to wait for Silk.

As Silk and LJ did their things with the leader, Hank was looking at his AR clock every 30 seconds. Sure Creepy Joe might want them to lay low for a couple more but doing so was only making the mercenary "safehouse" a little less safe. When he finally saw Silk moving out, he asked her

"We moving ? I'm coming with you if you do"

"Sorry Hank, Noise really doesn't want to stick around any longer. Would love to take you along, but there's only room for two in the car... It's only half an hour before you guys can take the body back to the clinic, we'll meet up after that."
She smiled. "Don't worry about us, first sign of trouble we'll back off and wait for you to come to our rescue. If not, you should only be an hour behind us."

<<LJ@Team: You oughtta bring the mage.  He can follow you across the astral.>>
Joe moved to the barrels and collected her disguise.
<<Where has he disappeared to anyway?  Hope he didn't get too nosy.  He seemed the type..>>

Fiddling with his Brick'link, Chrona replied "Your shaman friend isn't on the sensors... Well that's not good. No record of the main doors opening either... That's creepy...

I know a guy I can call in, dunno when he'd arrive though."

"Da. Though are small is still no room in car for you Hank. Unless you want shove in trunk? Is only small amount of explosive in there and is no possible way for them to accidentally go... boom? Yes?"

Though Noise smiles at the dwarf while she talks it's hard to tell if it's because she's being earnest or if she'd just like the dwarf to say OK to the trunk so she can stuff him in there.  One might get the feeling that a very bumpy route might be had if there was a passenger in the trunk.

somewhere from behind the Van you can hear Andromeda's voice roar above the sound of work.
" If ya find some more goers you might take my ride, bigger, more space"
a loud sound stopped the sentence midway
"that wasn't supposed to be so damaged, ****."
then there was just the sound of metal, beeps of programming and some kind of Ork muttering, you could not distinguish.
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best and expect nothing!

<<@Team: At last check, we'll need the sedan to move the guy.  Besides, why wouldn't the two women whose picture the police have, and whose car is full of illegal weaponry be the ones to go check and see if the safehouse is crawling with tin men?  It's just good sense.>>
Joe looked for a moment at the barrel where she had been laying earlier, and then walked to the sedan.

"Hey guys, I sent out word earlier for a Hacker. Got one whose gonna meet you at the safe house. Noise may even know him."

He put his commlink away. "I've called in a Shaman for you too, they'll met the rest of you here."

@Kitten: BloodClaw has pegged a team for you to run with. He knows you're a team player used to diversity so gave you the spot, you're to meet them at a warehouse deep in the Barrens.

@Space: Gerad heard a Hacker bailed on a team mid-run, he's not sure if it'll be a good investment opportunity or not but you're to rendezvous with two of the team outside a run-down one story house in Puyallup.

Hank raised an eyebrow "Err, I'm not too fond of you girls going all commando again, we know how it turned out last time. It could have turned much worse, let's not make the same mistakes again, that would just prove we don't learn from crap that happens...

And what about these new guys. Did we know something about them ? I mean will they randomly dispear in your "safehouse" Chrona or they should be safe ?"
Hank said the last sentence in a semi-serious tone, making sure he was mostly poking the Ghoul for fun. With Truth but anyway !

Space sends a reply to his fixer: Thank man, I will check it out. Do you know anything more specific about those runners?
Space also used the rest of the day to install this new gear which Gerad had send him to his commlink while his search agent looks for some maps and simple info's about the meeting area.

Like Gerad, Space didn't know if this it was a good idea to jump into a mi-run team, but he was pretty broke and you have to start somewhere in the shadows. At least listen to their offer won't hurt, or so he hopes.
When it's time for the meeting Space take a cap to get near this story house. His agent brought him some reports about the toxic rain, so he used to get a protected raincoat and a gas mask, just in case.
