I'm trying to create a doctor and I need to know the essential gear i should have I have patches medic kits, but not much more then that, what tools should i get i was thinking of getting acupuncture needles to throw cause i took throwing weapons - 4 and thought that'd be fun hide them in my jacket and toss them around hehe but any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated as it is my first time playing shadowrun (fourth addition) thanks in advance.

I don't think acapuncture needles are very useful for throwing, as they are quite flexible and will not get through armour.  I would take syringes filled with things like neurostun and slab and throw those (or better, take longarms and buy a sports riffle and you can dart people like they do animals at the zoo when they have to get to the vet).

It also depends on the campaign location, but if it's chicago or Lagos, I wouldn't leave home without the special farmaceuticals (antibac, zeta-interferon,...).  In Seattle this is less a necessity.

To throw those needles effectively You need to create an Adept !
For Equipment
Medkit, different Slappatches and a medical Toolbox thats all ImO

If you want to go overboard, consider the Transys Steed or the Evo Orderly.

Also never forget your cool boxes, so you can keep the organs you harvest at the correct temperature.  In fact, on one run we've made more by harvesting all organs from the bodies than from the run itself, so it's an option for some sidedeals.  Of course, you have to learn the street sammie to shoot in the head so the organs aren't damaged.  :o

This is so monsterously evil yet at the same time what I love about this game.  You have to be careful about this kind of thing.  If corp personnell turn up minus liver, heart, lungs, and spleen its going to go from "we got hit with corporate espionage" to "call the red samuri all bets are off" in a hurry.  This may very will be worth notoriety as well.  Organlegging is creepy, dark, and hardcore even by shadowrunner standards.  If word gets around that your opposition tends to end up in a chop shop or that you have unusually high body counts so you can rummage for spare parts you attract a whole different set of clients.

If you're able to take time out to harvest organs, security response times really need to get better in that corp.  :P

That said, an alternative to shooting them in the face to prevent organ damage is to use NarcoJet or Neurostun.  Just remember to have a bathtub of ice on hand to dump the unconscious and now lighter weight person into after you're done.

Well if you are going to be hauling off bodies you need a tag eraser, a powerful but short range jammer and some sort of meat wagon.  I don't see why a refrigerated van, maybe disguised as an ice cream truck to make it extra creepy, couldn't do the trick.  If you start dealing in organ legging don't be surprised when your encounters with ghouls go up.

Also there is the wonderful world of labs.  You can make some of your own medical products and certainly you could make other chemical compounds including explosives and drugs.  Of course a small team has a hard time always keeping an eye on the lab making sure the junkies, competition and the Star keep their hands off.  But if you made very small amounts just for use by the team I doubt anyone would bat an eye.

Otherwise a R6 medkit, some slap patches with useful compounds and the usual SR equipment.  I also liked the idea brought up by Medicineman.  Be a physical adept.  They actually have some chi healing powers that would be a really good addition to modern medicine, such as pain relief and empathic healing.  Plus if you wanted you could be a master of nerve strikes and such, not only to heal but also to harm.
Tell the doctor where it hurts.

Get a survival knife or 2 they can be used for pretty much anything, they can be thrown, and they can contain a tiny object, like a vial of some kind. Sometimes you will have cases you can't treat in the field, so purchase a shop or facility.

the best doctor is a mage, as magical healing can provide a great bonus. adepts can get a high bonus to their key skill from magic. and mundanes can get a lot of augmentation (cerebral booster, enchephalon 1, PuShed geneware, and nanohive with neocortical all add to your logic, which helps your biotech skills). and with that augmentation it can make sense to get the skills to also be a hacker.

Something to think about is the use of toxins and drugs. Toxins are very powerful and if you have the tools, time, and knowhow you generate quite a lot of awesomeness.

If you have a high logic and a high chemistry skill it is only a short hop to demolitions. I ran a doctor/bomber for a while and it was tons of fun.

Something else to think about is having an ambulance. Or at least some kind of mobile sick bay. There are modifications in arsenal for that sort of thing. That way your all of your gear can be moved for a run, as opposed to just taking the stuff you think you need.
