Upon the reunion of the team "Looks like you boys ran into a little trouble, so did we." Looking at Mouse "off the job it don't matter what you do for personal enjoyment, but on the job kid thats another story all together. We got to know that we can depend on you." Now to business looks at Omar "this won't hurt, (noticeable pause ) much" With that I start casting my heal spell on Omar.
Cast spell 14d6.hits(5)=7
Drain roll  9d6.hits(5)=3 if my calculations are correct no drain was taken, seeing how Omar only needed 5 boxes healed. With that Ryker looks at Alice's comlink "So chummers, what do we have there." As he cast a casual glance at Sam " Maybe ought to keep the kid away from the box we carried out of the store, atleast until after the run."

It took Mouse two more hours to successfully probe the node and slide in past the analyze program gateway.
Once in and enjoying the admin priviledges, he looked around. As stated previously the node is sculpted as an apartment. But this time the desk drawer opened before him.
Inside was an access_log.

Browsing through the log Mouse found out traces of the agent activities. Looks like it has escaped from the node when you have logged in and had no time to cover its's tracks.
From the log you seen that it has accessed a datafile and the removed the file completely.

With that he logged off and returned to reality.

Two hours later - Omar could remove two of his stun damage boxes

Deleting a file doesn't remove it's contents off of the storage medium, it merely deletes the index pointer to the file. In which it could be claimed by the system. In order to delete the file in whole you would have to overwrite the data in the file. (in the case of magnetic media--several times over.) It's possible that our hacker didn't have time to completely delete the file. Mouse will compare the storage media file index (the valid files) with the blocks of data that are not indexed hoping to piece together the file that was "taken."
If my crack sprite cannot help, i'll summon a data sprite (I may need to use a machine sprite as this is getting close to hardware level--dm's discretion.)

Can Dean's system confirm his presence in the house at the time of Alice's murder?

The file was securely deleted - which means overwritten with random numbers.
Dean probably have the original file on the hard backup somewhere, but it certainly isn't on the node.

The system have logs of accessing the node from the Dean's commlink access_id and credentials.
You could probably try to follow the datatrail to confirm location of the commlink at that time.
Secondary proofs are the trails of apartment peropherals being used (bar-bot, fridge, shower etc).

The problem is that the node has been compromised, and as far as you can tell all the trails could be implanted.

Well, Id like to see if my Medic program will be able to work some miracles on cracked squirrels nut.
Thanx a lot, Ryker, now this is really amazing how this works. Experienced this before...still amazed. Now, I only need a few minutes and some cofee...I still feel a bit dizzy, and Ill do my job with that key to the wonderland. Dont be too Harsh on Mouse, some of theese things are real traps for a perceptive brainz...

While Mouse was probing Dean's node Omar worked swiftly.
He flashed the hardcoded access_id with a random generated, updated his software to work with new access_id and removed the greater part of the Alice's commlink antenae. Then fired up the link and browsed it again from the AR. It looks like this is no game rather and open ended environment, that uses the link camera and sound and geolocation information to thread it into pleasantly looking environment. When linked with BTL code and fed directly into the brain the software puts you in the middle of the wonderland, continously streaming you with pleasure, without disconnecting you from reality. Hence there is no need to ever drop the connection, you just carry on with enhanced better life. The agents are woven into the world. They serve basic tasks, as well as provide additional entertainement.

On top of that is some kind of directing signal. Creating the urge to follow in given direction. The latest one was that star that risen over the city sending out a callout with growing intensity. It is going brighter with each passing minute and the sound is more urging, but at the same time the star is getting smaller and smaller.

Easy enough via GPS approximation, you triangulate the star position to be the cross of Stout and 26th Street in the CAS, near the Hub. Gridguide immediately advice you that at this location you can find a late night cofeehouse going under brand of Kofee Klatch and offices of the Kara Kuchi corporation.

Meanwhile medic program finishes mending the remains of the agent and its fence that had been retrieved from the RedWire node.
It wasn't able to put repair the code to the point of compile or the data to be complete. But what was rebuilt bear similarity to the BTL code running on the Alice commlink. Agent code was definitely created by the same group/corporation/software labs. As far as the data goes. The agent paydata were actually being two pieces of datafile. First looks like a piece of contact data. It contains contact number and name of another mafia hacker going under Jazzman nickname. The second piece is virus program, you weren't able to boot it, but the intention of the was to inject viral code. Not sure what that code would change, in the part that wasn't damaged you recognize calls to the neural streaming procedures typicaly used in simsense flicks.
Sorry for a small delay ;)

Sighing over the stream of 1's and 0's that once had been a file of importance, Mouse looks to see if there is a resonance signature from the delete attempt and if so, if it matches the one he found that edited the cameras in the Red Wire store.

Mouse decides to create a separaet admin account for himself, just in case. He thinks for a moment and decides to take a look at all accounts that exist in this node and when they have been accessed. Maybe the hacker wasn't acting alone. I check to see when the last backup was made. If nothing turns up, Mouse will remove all traces of his activities from the logs and log off the node.

@Team: good news and bad news. The good news is that I got into Dean's system and discovered the file the hacker was after. The bad news is that the hacker deleted the file totally. No chance of recovery. Dean may have a backup of it in cold storage, but we would have to go back to the apartment to look for it. The logs show that systems like the shower, bar bot, etc. have been used during the time of the murder; however, these could be false trails as the system has been compromised. I'll start working on the video feed from Red Wire to see if there were any clues we missed.

Mouse then proceeds to run the downloaded copy of the video feed of the murder in Red Wire to look for analmolies in the video stream to make sure it wasn't doctored in anyway or for any other potential clues. He will go frame by frame until he finds something or is interrupted by the team.

Having completed the current set of tasks before me, I remove my data trail from the logs and log off. I sit up and  slowly move my head from side to side and in a couple of circles to loosen up the kink in the back of the neck from being jostled around in Unca Omar's vehicle. I take note of the vehicle and my immediate surroundings.
So this is where that BTL was leading me... sez Mouse softly to no one in particular.

Turning to Unca Omar...
Unca Omar??? I've been replaying that camera feed from Red Wire looking from some sort of anomaly, such as tampering or magic; but, found none. Ya know there are numerous blogs about using the technology of Sim Sense as a brain washing tool. One of the things that BTL simulations do is disable motor control to prevent people from accidentally lashing out because they are responding to the BTL simulation. What if both guards were under the influence of such a BTL that resumes that motor control prematurely? Maybe the one in Alice's com link is such a BTL?

Unca Omar, still busy changing the access id of his com link and getting it re-subscribed to the 'trix paid little attention to the small boy's voice. Not getting a response and figuring it best not to bother him, Mouse goes off to find Unca Sam and Unca Ryker.
Hi Unca Sam, Unca Ryker! We made it. Unca Omar is changing the access id on his com link. He'll be in shortly.

Sam, you still have that commlink turned off? OK. Ill look at it.

First thinkg Omar did when he gets his hands on alices commlink was changing his AcessID. Routine operation doesnt take more than a few minutes.

Then he turns that thing on..
Mouse, dont be tempted. Ill run this cold and we can see where it leads. Ill begin where you had quited.

From this time, Omar is running Alices commlink and streams the feed to the rest of the team, well he have separate channel for it that blocks signal from the commlink when HotSimed.

With one of his dobermans he walks to place, where Sam discovered that computer.
This would need a brief overlook. How long is this place used for this purpose? How electricity and other lines are connected. Lets look for any clue that tells us who puts this thing here. Ill start with computer, Mouse, watch yourself, I dont want to dumpshock you again ;)

Then Omar looks over the computer, first Hardware, then software check. At this time his running scan routine would also know of every hidden node in the area, so he will run brief analyze test for each of them if he can find something interresting.

Logic(6)+Hardware(3) Logic(6)+Computer(3) (9d6.hits(5)=4, 9d6.hits(5)=4)
Diagnostics of that desktop station.
Matrix perception roll: Logic(6)+Computer(3/5) (11d6.hits(5)=4, 11d6.hits(5)=4)
(First roll is for the node, the second roll for surrounding area analyze)

Meanwhile, FlySpy moves ahead to taht cofee in CAS.

Mouse goes off to find Unca Sam and Unca Ryker.
Hi Unca Sam, Unca Ryker! We made it. Unca Omar is changing the access id on his com link. He'll be in shortly.
Sam saw Mouse coming in, he did nothing out of the ordinary, as it would most likely show his intend, but on the opposite, put on his normal friendly looking mask and went in the direction of  Mouse. He felt how his palms started to get sweaty, but he could not stop, not now, not for any reason, he knew that he had to teach Mouse a lesson.
"Hey Mouse, how are you feeling, you do not looks so good." Sam said it in his casual way, still grappling with his will to go trough the plan he has hatched.
His hand reached for the streetlight he had put in his back pocket and he felt the cold touch on the grip, this was the point he knew there is no way back, and pulled the gun and in one jump he had passed him. his arm circled around mouses neck, a kick in the back of the knee pushed him to the ground and the holding position was ready.
Sam was very careful to block Mouses chances to reach his light pistol under his long coat. Being sure Mouse has no chances to escape the grip Sam put the streetlight to Mouses head and started to deliver his message by shooting a bullet straight past Mouses ear, so that the shoot would still ring in his head long after they had had a talk, and the bullet would hit the wall just in front of his eyes.
"So you think you can fuck up our chances to do our job?" Sam started his intimidation "You think we will let you risk our lives? Are you certain that we will let you just walk away after you have seen who we are and what we are capable of?" Sam paused to hear the shocked breath of Mouse,
he was under the influence of Sam's speech.
" We could sell you to a science lab you know, there are a lot of people who are interested in the inner workings of a technomancer.
No that would take too long, i know we just shoot you right here, right now!"
The pistol pressed to the head of Mouse, and then suddenly kicking him away, while still manage to take Mouses pistol, and then again pointing the street light to mouses face.
"so you understand our situation and you know as much as i know that this is unacceptable." Sam pulled the trigger of the gun. an Mettallic sound filled the room, there was no bullet, just an empty clip. Mouse had it coming in the face, but Mouse did not know this, so his fear for his life was real, hopefully real enough to make him think twice before ignoring the team for a pleasure-time.
Sam felt good about what he had done, there could be some bad feelings between him and Mouse, but in the end it would only benefit the team, and if mouse can not handle a small scare like that what guaranties does the team have that he can be trusted?
"here a small souvenir from our chat." Sam threw the empty street light to Mouse, "And remember i am the shadow that follows you if you even seem to be trouble for me, and i am the one who can take you out with no problems, so shape up or we will have to deal with you  in our own way." Sam finished on a strong note.
Ōf course Sam would not simply kill Mouse, for that his heart was to kind, but in case when he would have had something to do with danger to the team, then Sam would defiantly take it out on him.

Yes, you're in the same district - CAS

Overcoming the smell of urine and body odor Omar entered into the room to check the computer.

Radar scan revealed that the desktop is powered from the 'plex electricity grid. Nothing special about that. There is no hardwired matrix connection, so it must be connected via wifi. The desktop itself looks like flat touch screen back from 2020. The hardware (equivalent of the cheap commlink) is builtin the screen. Software is modern but rather lousy.

Quote from: ooc
Node parameters as identified by matrix scan: Response 3, Signal 3, System 3, Firewall 4. There is no other nodes in the vicinity

The functionalities of the system are stripped to the bare minimum. It passively scans for any PAN's arriving in the direct vicinity and replays them a woman voice message. Other than that it just makes copies of agents or simsense flic and loads them into the accepting commlinks. There is a hardcoded limit to copy maximum of two agent programs per access_id.
Sorry for a small delay ;)
