other that the obvious things like plastic bone lacing, are there any other non-MAG detectable cyber enhancments?  Or can typical cyberware be made with non-metals (like the ceramic/plasteel components mod for firearms)

I think many pieces of ware might be non-MAG detectable, but that doesn't help at all against a cyberware scanner.

Even Deltaware will register on a cyber scanner or good astal perception check.  Best you can do is camo the cyber as a different type than it is.  Hiding a gun in bone lacing, etc.

Or arguing that your Titanium Bone lace is just aluminum.

I think the thing is, alot of things might actually set of a MAD system. So if you're just trying to con your way past a guard checkpoint, I don't think cyberware should really hinder you (unless you have other things you want to hide on your person, and need to avoid a pat down). I imagine guards are totally OK with people saying "Hey, I got a datajack."

Also, yes, sometimes I have seen stuff saying that cyberware is made of non ferrous materials that don't set of MADs, so this is on your GM. I would say it is unreasonable to turn away someone with cybernetics just due to a MAD scan. Unless once again, your goal is to actually hide any cybernetics (and appear as a normal human). Maybe its just my way of running SR in the past, but I generally think cyberware is actually kind of common (an arm here or there, eyes, ears, plenty of datajacks/internal commlinks).

Sure, your going to have a Sarariman with a 'jack or commlink or other common 'ware.

But the stuff your average 'Runner is packing is a whole different story:o

Nobody cares if you've got Rating 1 Bone Density - "Hey, I play a lot of Combat Rugby!" - but slap some 16F Titanium Bone Lace, and any Rentacop worth their meager paycheck is going to start asking a lot of questions and maybe getting a second look at that iffy SIN you're pushing.

Well the initial question was dealing with MADs, not cyberware scanners. Certainly, some of those forbidden augmentations are going to be a pain, hope your hacker buddy is up to the challenge.

Generally, I just have to abstract it out to a notion that a facility does in fact, not have a r6 cyberware scanner, despite it actually being that cheap. Same as how my current GM disallows ultrawideband, as it somewhat breaks the game too (oh, it sees through walls and detects cyberware? OK, these are mounted all over the place inside, and they can track everything's movement, perfectly).

There is a whole subsection of detection/evasion that SR4 chooses not to get into with this.  Otherwise it would be a constant arms race with new tech and new concealment abilities and there would be a new book every year about what has changed.  It is much easier for them to just slap in a basic mechanic for this.

Now personally I wish they would have made these things a bit more expensive then they did.  There really isn't ANY reason that every security station doesn't have a R 6 cyber scanner as cheap as they are.  As a GM I try to make it a bit more realistic.  These scanners are much more expensive and while you can bet your wired reflexes 3 that serious secure areas have these the local mall does not.  While financially practical, in an area where thousands of people pass by the agent or persons you have watching it have to constantly decide what all the alerts mean and if they are something they should stop someone over.

Are there bioware cyber weapons comparble to those available with cyberware?

Not really, but you're updating "The First Weapon", which is never a bad idea.

bioware has a couple good weapons. aside from bone density which lets you punch harder, you can get a chemical gland with Spit or exhalation spray. you can get electroshock orthoskin. and geneware for animal features can give you a few more options as well.

Wolf specifically didn't show Kid Stealth the spitting skills he learned while playing professional baseball undercover for fear of the Murder Machine getting said spitting gland.  :P

All of my years of GMing cause a peculiar reaction whenever I see "Electroshock Orthoskin"...

...which is, basically, the anticipation of someone suggesting that they can combine Electroshock Orthoskin with a Skinlink commlink to make 10S damage phone calls.

There probably should be a way to buy Alpha grade cyber at Delta prices but have the cyber made to appear a different type of cyber.  You could establish a rating system for the camo cyber when people attempt to check it.  It would make it cost prohibitive for most things except what you really needed hidden.  Seems like there would be a market for such things out there.
