Hey all, I've got a few questions relating to my gf's character that she's making.

1.  For one thing the character will use a full cybernetic body.  She chose to use the obvious pieces set.  Our question is what bonuses does that give exactly ?  Or is there a better option ? ( armor etc )

2.  Because of the cybernetic body, are there specific skills that she should take ?

3.  She picked up a trauma dampener and damage compensator 4.  From what we understand, the real danger to her once she has so much armor and what not is stun damage.  Is there any other
way to deal with stun damage ?

4.  If you use the PPP-System helmet does that mean that you cannot use another helmet along with it ?

Thanks to anyone who replies :p  I did check out the make me bullet proof thread, but I didn't understand everything there.  I was hoping for some clarification :p  Here's what she has so far:

A fair bit of your cyberwear choices don't make sense: a full replacement limb includes the foot / hand and lower limb, you don't need to buy them separately. Also you might want to look into some mods for them (armour plates, strength / agility boosters etc. You might wnt to look in Augmentation at cyber psychosis (I think thats what it's called anyway) for a purely character driven point of view.

You've taken spec points in cyber-implant combat but have no cyberspurs or things like that which is what the spec uses.

For stun get a pain editor it will allow you to not go unconscious from stun damage, now it will just roll over to physical damage though so you'll still be hurt just not fall down until you're dead. :)

problem with pain editor is that it's 18F and my DM requested nothing over 12.  I could take the restricted gear quality, but the DM also specified we couldn't have more than 3 qualities in positive and negative.  So 6 total.  I'll take a look t cyber psychosis.

I'll double check the cyberwear for what you are pointing out.  Which pieces of cyberware are you refering to by the way ?  It's not very descriptive in the builder and I'm not sure which set is the better one.

If I was to take the restricted gear quality which other quality should I replace ?

since your natural STR/AGI/BOD are over 3, you'll also need to purchase customized limbs which cost and addition 1500 nuyen per point increase.
  • BOD 8 = 5 x 1500 per limb
  • AGI 5 = 2 x 1500 per limb
  • STR 6 = 3 x 1500 per limb

obvious full arm left customized - 15000 cedits, 1 essence
  • BOD 8 = 7500 credits
  • AGI 5 = 3000 credits
  • STR 6 = 4500 credits
total = 30,000
obvious full leg left customized - same as arm
so depending on how much you want to spend, with your curretn natural attributes it'll cost you 30K +1 essence per limb

now just wondering, does that mean that I have to get the obvious full arm x2 and obvious full leg x2, torso x1 and head x1 for a full body ?  Or just obvious full farm x1 and that covers both arms ?

A trauma dampener and damage compensators: 4 are a terrible combination.  The trauma dampener will only activate when the damage compensators have been overloaded.  In other words, you would have to take 5 or more points of damage before your trauma dampener kicked in.

you would have to buy 2 obvious arms + 2 obvious legs +1 torso +1 head to be completely cyber.
just remember that stand cyberlimbs had an AGI/STR/BOD of 3 so to get those up to your natural stats you have to get the customized which will increase your cost by 30,000 per part.
30,000 x 5 (2 arms, 2 legs, torso, head) = 150,000 + the cost of the original limbs/replacements.

Never if You want to play a Troll!
Human or Elf maybe(If you know the Crunch) but never as a Troll
My Char Cyb Ork is fully converted, but I Min/Maxed him and he started with very Low Attributes (3s or 4s)
Now the Char has about 100 Karma and develops quite well
Cyb Ork is a Char with "Long Term development"

with a Long Term Dance

hehe, we had our one off yesterday, 12 hour session !  it was interesting, a couple of hours were used for planning, then a couple more to set up recon, spying on the objective, infiltrating the location.  Then we hit the mission.  As it turns out even though no one had played before, no one died.  And the only one who really got hurt was the hacker who ended up getting found by ICE programs.  It was fun though long since we didn't know the rules by heart.

The troll ended up being hilarious, he was shot at a whole bunch of times but he never even ate any damage, between his reaction of 4 and the amount of B / I that he had..  Meanwhile myself using Mag, the other build I have on the forums and a friends character who also went black ops ish, we infiltrated the compound and using shock gloves managed to get by the patrol without even getting spotted.  Once the troll was spotted though the guards really started going crazy, they unleashed some drones that were instantly destroyed by the trolls grenade launcher.  Our soldiers AK-97 cleaned up the guard re-inforcements from the side while the troll danced in front of them.  It was fun.  Mission complete, no casualties on our side and a getaway chase.  :D

Though I have to wonder, who keeps giving me negative rep and why ?

30,000 x 5 (2 arms, 2 legs, torso, head) = 150,000 + the cost of the original limbs/replacements.

this may be pointless, as the op said the game has already happened and it was a one off, but RAW to use the customized cyberlimbs to raise the limb's stats you add 1 to the availability for each point.  Meaning you add a total of 8 Body, Str, and Agi to the limb, combined, before you push the availability over 12 and need a Restricted Gear quality to buy it.  Thats the trouble with cybertrolls, their natural stats are so high it is really difficult to get the cybergear up to the same ratings.   To match the stats listed by the OP each limb would have an availability of 14, which would require Restricted Gear X4, and RAW the most you can have to start with is 3.  Thats before the cybertorso, which starts at availability 12 and with the full custom stats would be at 22R, unavailable even with the quality without special permission from the GM.

Also, essence costs on this are insane.  Four limbs+torso are 5.5 essence as standard gear, good luck getting another initiative pass after that, and the cost for alphaware on the the same setup is out of reach of starting characters.

I think the best way to build a "tank' character is one cyberlimb with a restricted gear quality to max out armor, a skin mod like dermal plating, dermal sheath, or orthoskin, a bone lace mod of choice, and a naturally high body stat.  Combine that with high end worn armor are you are really, really tanky and can do it out of the box with a 400 bp character and still have an extra initiative pass.
