I've been working on this one for a day or so and I think I've finally got him to something presentable. Of course tips would be appreciated since I usually use mostly cyber on my combat characters because the cost benefit ratio is a bit better and all you need is a decent license and some Matrix contacts to make it past average security.

Without further ado here's my first attempt at a very low cyber sammy. Besides the cost of implants my biggest hurdle was being Human. I may change that to Ork because to get a Human to a decent spread of stats it takes all 200 points and even that isn't enough. If I switch to Ork it gives me more points to move around his stats.

Metatype: Human (may switch to Ork)
BP: 400
Stats: 200
Edge: 30
Active Skills: 128
Qualities: 20/35
Resources: 50
Contacts: 7

Body 3 (+2 for damage)
Agility 6(10)
Reaction 5(6)
Strength 3(5)
Charisma 3(5)
Intuition 3
Logic 2
Willpower 3
Edge 5

Athletics Group 2
Influence Group 2
Firearms Group 3
Stealth Group 3
Perception 4
Unarmed 3

Genetic Heritage (Genetic Optimization Agility)
Genecrafted (The 20% discount saved what money I could)
Restricted Gear (Muscle Toner 4)

Dependent 2 (dead partners child)
Signature (dead partners signature, keep people thinking he's alive)
In Debt (15000)

Genetic Optimization Agility
Reakt
Synch

Synaptic Booster 1 (transgenic)
Muscle Toner 4 (transgenic)
Synthacardium 3 (Used)
Muscle Augmentation 2 (used)
Attention Coprocessor 3 (used)
Bone Density Augmentation (transgenic)
Tailored Pheomones 2
Enhanced Articulation (used)
Enhanced Pheromone Receptors (transgenic)

Comlink 4/4/4/4. loaded with Agent 3, Analyze, Encrypt, Stealth 4. Empathy Software 4.

Still have a chunk of cash left over. Roughly 10K which will be spent on weapons, armor, and a cheap ride. Worse comes to Worse and I need more money I'll just bump up the In debt quality to get a bit more.

As for dice pools despite the low skills they're pretty decent for a character split between stealth, social skills, and combat.

Athletics Group 2 +Agi 10/Strength 5 + Enhanced Articulation +Synthacardium 3 = 16/11 (13 for climbing with gloves)

Influence Group 2 + Charisma 3(5) + Empathy Software 4 + Enhanced Pheromone Receptors 3 = 5/14 depending on circumstances of negotiations.

Firearms Group 3 + Agi 10 + Smartgun = 15

Stealth Group 3 + Agi 10 + Enhanced Articulation = 14

Perception 4 + Coprocessors 3 + Int 3 + Vis enhancement 3 + Synch = 14

Unarmed 3 + Agi 10 = 13

And if god forbid it should take more then one hit to kill someone *sarcasm* Reakt adds an extra die to all my combat tests so everything violence or dodging violence related goes up by one.

So any comments on how to improve the character?

stay with human. This is very good as it is. I prefer it so much over cyber and you're dice pools are very good everywhere. Used Bioware is a little strange, but a decent background story makes it work I guess.

You could buy your Synaptic Boosters and Muscle Toner as Animal Feature transgenics, that would let you save a bit of money. The downside being that it would take several months to upgrade them later.

The story I had for all the used was it had been harvested from his previous partner after a revenge run ended successfully but with my character dying and his partner dead. With little time the street doc had to use his partner as spare parts to bring him back. If they had some sort of schizo quality I would take it since I think that would go with the theme of being kept alive by the flesh of his best friend.

Usually I wouldn't use Used ware so much (maybe a piece of two but not much) but the costs were just too much to pass them up. Bioware is crazy expensive when compared to cyber >.> My plan is masquerading as a complete mundane wherever I go and thanks to having only one piece of (completely legal) cyber my character can get past most security with little issue.

Really? I didn't know you could do that. Thanks for the tip.

Augmentation p163ff has some mental issues qualities. Multiple Personality Disorder exists, but hits you hard

Hallucination quality would work fine. Partner could appear with the pieces that my character is using missing from his body. Since it happens in stressful situations the illusion could be something of both an anchor (reminding him of why he must fight) and a distraction (his dead best friend is talking to him and missing the parts that the character now has inside him.)

Now that I know bioware can be gained through transgenics at a similar price and essence cost I can drop a lot of the used bioware and switch to that. I think I would feel better about that because I felt a little cheap using so much used bioware. Plus I get a 20% discount so everything is good :D

EDIT:
Bioware that I took through transgenics now have that noted. Still have some used Bioware but it's much less and is easily explained away. Saved quite a hefty amount of money by switching. Now to just adjust the math accordingly.

Only Bioware, that can mimic animal features is allowed for this. Which bioware qualifies needs to be discussed with the GM. But in general, a Synaptic Booster 1 could be fine (some great Cats have 2 IPs, but no animal has 3 IPs) and muscle changes should be obvious. Just get Gorilla muscles.

I haven't checked your math to make sure this all fits, but overall you have very competient skill levels is several disciplines.

On your perception pool you have a bonus from vision enhancements.  No cybereyes listed, i assume you have some glasses/goggles involved.

Remember that the emotion software needs a camera to work.  In fact, check with your gm on this, many people houserule emotion software due to it being a huge bonus for very little cost.

But overall its hard to find much fault.  Someone who is super specialized in their field will have a few more dice, but you can fight, sneak, have good social skills, and good perception.  This looks like a very solid generalist operative.

I realized they had to be animal like. I made sure I could rationally justify each one I chose. Also switched bone density back to used because I thought I came up with a reason but then after further scrutiny I lost it.

It just about fits. The money is the biggest issue so I'm going over the math for that again. Yup, contacts and goggles to make up for the lack of cyber eyes. Empathy software is alright when loaded into a comlink instead of a emotitoy. If it was an emotitoy I know it wouldn't be approved.

That's what I was going for. Someone who could operate under most circumstances.  I think I've gotten this one down though I keep going over everything and I feel like there's something I'm missing. Maybe it will come to me later.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... What about a weapon personality? Your partner lives on (at least a little bit) as a weapon personality program. That way you could have something at work in combat. Your partner may have goals that are different than yours and as such could provide a dice pool penalty or some sort of other odd influence over combat. And that way you would still be working the signature aspect as your partner (or at least a little part of him) would be still talking to you through the weapon. And just the aspect of using his signature gun would be a way to make people think he is still alive.

Otherwise, I think you have a very solid character with a great use of bioware. I hope you have fun playing with this character.

Being a human with 5 edge seems like a shame - I would try to dig up the points for 1 more edge; that way, you would at least be giving up something to be an orc. As it is you're paying 10 BP and 1 body to be human.

I'm going to talk to my GM about allowing the Hallucinations negative quality. Maybe a modified version of it because it's 20 BP and I don't need that much.

I also play Human because it's easier to get along. I can infiltrate higher society, Humanis, and more conservative groups that wouldn't want a trog in the same room as them unless they were serving food or fighting in a ring.
