Through the door, you can passably make out the sounds of Rat talking to himself.  "How the frag are people calling me!?  This isn't even my link ID... That guy called me Jack!  Shit!  Shit!  Oh shit!"  From inside the apartment you hear the sounds of manic activity.

11d6.hits(5)=1 (accidentally rolled two extra dice should be summoning 4 + magic 5)

only one hit

spirit resists 5d6.hits(5)=2 (no spirit for me)

drain resist
intuition 4 + willpower 5 + focused concentration 2
11d6.hits(5)=6 (at least I don't take stun damage for this futile attempt, could have used some of those hits on the first roll.

Well so much for that idea, anyone else got any bright ideas before Rat finds a gun back there?

"Not a problem."  Switch walks up to the door, reels back and lets one fly.

[OOC: 11d6.hits(5) → [6,5,5,1,4,5,6,6,6,5,3] = (8) So, DV = 18  door soaks with 6x2 = 12d6.hits(5) → [4,4,1,1,5,4,1,2,3,6,4,2] = (2) so that's 16 damage.  Enough to make a 2 meter hole.  Rolling surprise to see if Switch catches buckshot.  Switch 9d6.hits(5) → [6,6,5,3,6,2,2,5,6] = (6)  Rat 11d6.hits(5) → [1,3,4,1,1,4,5,6,6,3,5] = (4)]


The door shatters like a saltine cracker, and Switch rolls out of the way before Rat can get off a shot.

Ghost looks to see how much he can see through the hole in the door without directly getting into the line of fire.  I'll target a force 5 stunball approximately five meters into the hole.

[Rolling surprise for Ghost's endoscope move 8 init +3 awareness = 11d6.hits(5) → [5,1,2,5,1,3,5,5,1,5,3] = (5) wins.  Van resists magic 4 + 4 good cover = 8d6.hits(5) → [3,2,3,2,4,3,5,3] = (1) 11S = lights out.]

Popping his endoscope around the corner, Ghost spots Rat crouched behind his sofa with a shotgun pointed at the door.  Before Rat can react, Ghost concentrates hard and forces mana straight at Rat's mind in a burst strong enough to ripple the air.  Rat's mind instantly goes black as consciousness drains out of him.

Ghost sees Vanian drop behind the couch and realizes that now the hard work is next. "Hey Yuri," he says in a low voice, You think you can scan the matrix for any calls to security reports a gunshot in the building.  Also let's get inside quick and heal this guy.  Maybe he can call and use the ole "cleaning the gun story."   Ghost suddenly wishes Johnny didn't have to go to ground.  He would have been real useful right about now.  "Jinx, how does the front look from your car?"

"Holy balls Switch!" the rigger quips as the door goes flying into a thousand pieces.

Jink sees the endoscope and mutters "Fraggin' sneaky mages, what chance does an aug have?" under his breath.

Slipping inside the room he gives a low whistle at the magician's work, eyeing off Vanian's slumped and unmoving form. Checking him over for vital signs, he declares "Remind me not to get on your bad sides, eh, frag... Can you turn his body invisible Ghost, maybe we just walk  'im out, and talk later, in the wagon?

Nodding at Ghost's question, Umberto pings his wagon, commanding it to do a sensor sweep of around the building, and keep an eye on the front...

[OOC: sorry dudes, Invisible Castle is down at the moment - but I would have done a 12 dice perception test for the wagon (camera 6, clearsight 3, active looking 3?) and done a first aid to check Van's vital signs - forget if I can heal stun - or if we even want to heal him right now? 13 dice: medkit 6, logic 6, first aid 3, -2 poor environment or whatever?)

"Matrix is clean and Rat didn't even get a shot off before you thwacked him.  I lost his link right before the scuffle though.  He either turned it off or changed IDs.  Likely the latter."  Yuri walked into the room and looked around.  The place was a total mess.  There were piles of clothes mixed with piles of rotting take out and computer parts.  There was evidence of animals, hopefully pets, living there as well.  Trash just piled up against the walls everywhere.  There were paths cut through the debris and clear spots in the living room where Rat must usually sit, but the overall effect was reminiscent of a garbage dump.  She headed over to Rat and unplugged his comm.  "I'd be happy to get out of here as soon as I can, but if there's something here, and we don't find it, then we risk losing it to Multitech."  She pauses for a moment while she studies Rat's comm.  "On the other hand, our boy did call for help, and it wasn't to the police."

While the team was pondering extraction, interrogation or ambush, Yuri was looking deeper into the call for help.  The call ended at a node somewhere downtown, and said node wasn't moving.  Cross-referencing the location with her mapsoft put it at a downtown databank.  Probably a bot router to shuffle the message to another destination and kill the logs.  Professional stuff like that was a standard for Runners.  She wouldn't be able to trace the message any further, but it did tell them something about their possible opposition.

Switch follows Yuri into the room, wrinkling his nose at the decor.  "It seems our boy here wasn't much for getting out.."

He wanders down a path through the trash, careful not to disturb any of it.  He sighs when he hears Yuri's comment and walks back to Rat's body.  It's never easy is it.

"Well, I'd hate to get caught the same way.  I doubt there's anything in this dump worth more than Rat or his link.  We can take him back to the van and ask a few questions.  After that we may as well see what we can get for him."

Jink gives a broad grin and picks up Rat's body, hefting it over his cyberarm shoulder.

"Can you make him vanish, Ghost? Best you keep your hands free, eh Switchback? I'll bring the wagon round front. If the spell fails, we leg it, neh?"

Pinging his wagon, Umberto commands it to start circling the block, getting ready to time it's arrival to pull up outside the building when they appear. He also gets it to scan the area for potential hostiles...
