Vanian's address is in exactly the nasty part of town where you'd have expected to find it.  Third gutter to the left and straight on 'til morning.  not exactly a prime location.  Still, for a fence, this Vanian character has guts.  Few in his profession have the cojones to maintain a storefront; most fences don't care to advertise.  Either Vanian's a real drekhead, or he had reason to be cocky.  Wedged between a butcher shop that looks to be nirvana for six-legged livestock and an all-night erotisense parlor, Vanian's reminds you of a perfectly legal, if unsavory, pawn shop.

It's hard to tell whether Gibson Hall looks better or worse than it did on the 'Trix.  The darkness probably helps.  AR by the door shows a menu of businesses inside.  There are barely enough to fit one per floor.  Next to that is an advertising sign promising "Office Space Available!"  Quite a shocker.  From what Alpha Blue told you, Neil maintained a small office on the second floor where he could work in peace.

Switchback stares at Vanians, glancing down the street before he turns to Jink and Ghost.  "Looks like a wiz place.  Let's keep our eyes open though.  I'd rather not add to the body count."

He saunters up past the erotisense parlor, glancing in it's direction before he moves to vanians and tests the door.

The door swings inward, the keypad entry system having been completely disabled, with no external indication of tampering.  In the front room, you see a coffee table with an interactive surface, displaying a hologram of right-handed cyberarm.  You recognize it as a virtual catalog of the items which must be stored elsewhere in the store.  Around the table, sit several chairs.  Past this is a large counter with a shelf behind.  The inside of the place isn't as dirty as the neighborhood would have suggested.  It still smells a bit stale though.  There are two doors on the north wall, one directly across from the entrance, and one behind the counter.  Both are closed.

Ghost remembers the first body being in the room accessible by the door behind the counter.  The other body was in the back work area, accessible by the other door.

While riding towards Vanian's in Jink's van he suddenly goes silent.  Again communing with the astral plane.  This time to summon a guardian spirit.

Summoning 4 + Magic 5 (9d6.hits(5)=3)

Uh Oh 5 ones.  Is that a glitch?

Marlene leaves the bike a block away from Gibson Hall, and walks the rest of the way with Johnny.

"Nice place. Glad we're not slumming it. she says with all the sarcasm she could muster.

She takes a look at the building, and does a quick check to make sure she has her pistol in it's concealed holster. She made sure to leave the heavy weapons secure in the hidden space within the Bike.

"I'll let you take lead, hopefully we won't need to use my muscle. she says to Johnny.

[OOC: Yep.  You can always negate a glitch with edge if you like.  You also should declare what force spirit you're summoning.  Because of the glitch he'll be throwing Force x2 dice to resist.]

[OOC: It's a jackrabbit, not a bike.  Subcompact car with a few upgraded ammenities.  Biking and hacking don't mix as well as auto-piloting cars on grid-guide :)]

Yuri listens to her agents relate thier info and starts sifting through the data feeds.

Scott Pilgrim??  hoookay.  Not what I was looking for. .. .. Yuri quietly files that book away for later reading over a hot soycaf.

A bit dissatisfied with the current intel, she takes a few minutes to expand upon what she's got.  First, a quick matrix trip to Vanian's matrix node from the data the agent gathered to have a look at the Firewall.  If he's a tech fence, it's probably not a slouch, which would mean a much longer hacking job to do it right.

Matrix Perception to observe Vanian's store node: Computer 4 + Analyze 6 + Encephalon 1 (11d6.hits(5)=2)[OOC, assuming it's not hiding, that means 2 bits of info.  Firewall rating and System Rating would be good :) ]

Followed by a trip to Gibson Hall to see what she can find on it.  With luck, the matrix defenses will be as dilapidated as the pics of it looked.

Browse for public data on Gibson Hall, including node location, layout, tennants, etc: Data Search 4 + Browse 6 + Encaphalon 1 extended test = (11d6.hits(5)=5, 11d6.hits(5)=5, 11d6.hits(5)=3, 11d6.hits(5)=5, 11d6.hits(5)=6, 11d6.hits(5)=3, 11d6.hits(5)=8, 11d6.hits(5)=3, 11d6.hits(5)=4, 11d6.hits(5)=7, 11d6.hits(5)=2)
Matrix Perception on Gibson Node: Computer 4 + Analyze 6 + Encaphalon 1 = (11d6.hits(5)=5) [OOC: looking for Firewall / System ratings, plus whatever other public info is handy.]

opposed test

force 5 * 2 opposed test (10d6.hits(5)=2)

[OOC: finally a lucky roll.  now resist dv2 drain]

intuition 4 + willpower 5 + focused concentration 2 (11d6.hits(5)=3)

A guardian spirit shows up and grants ghost one service to him.

Before I enter Vanian's I get to my commlink.@Yuri:  Hey we're here at Vanian's.  Could you see if there are any security camera's recording here?  And if there are if you could access what happened to the
two dead guys we're probably gonna find in there.  I'd bet nuyen to donuts though that if that ever existed it's probably been destroyed by now./color]

@Jink and Switchback::  You wanna try to disable the camera's before we enter.  I have an endoscope and can target any cameras with a powerbolt.

[OOC:  would that make a lot of noise.  and if it did would it matter in this area of town?]

Vanian's store had no public node, which wasn't too uncommon for this part of town, but not what you'd expect from a guy like him.  Scanning on the scene for hidden nodes pulled up nothing either.  The sweep pulled up a few hidden nodes in the area.  Well, more than a few.  Seemed like every house on the strip had someone in it with their link hidden.  Again, not uncommon for this part of town.

The full search on Gibson Hall pulled up a lot of records.  A lot of not too interesting records.  Yuri went through the whole download.  Years of tenants. They never lasted too long.  Most seemed pretty suspect, if not outright criminal.  Short term scams.  Shady detective agencies.  One gene treatment place run by a Hugo Smendling "M.D." that had no licenses.  The small business owner was rarer than a unicorn these days.  In fact, unicorns were encouraged to flourish.  Neil's Office didn't have a name.  It didn't even have a good Matrix site - only a basic placard.

The final bit of chatter came from people talking about people.  Only noteworthy person on staff at the time was a man named Jack Stone who was a retired Lone Star SWAT Sargent.

The Gibson Hall building's public node wasn't much.  Standard residential gateway.  Sending a spoofed update request showed it was running an Olsertech Firewall [of 4] and a Microdeck Data-checker Analyze program [Rating 2].  Business standard stuff.

[OOC: now resist dv2 drain]
[OOC: Actually, DV is 2x hits the ghosty gets, or 4dv, but 1S is a gimmie for a talented medic like Jinx, so we'll gloss that for now.  If it was combat it would be different..  You also need to decide on his optional power.]

His mind on the astral, Ghost concentrated and opened himself to the universe's energies, hoping to scoop out a protector spirit from the great uncut block of the Tao.  What he got was perhaps not what he had expected.  In his minds eye, he saw a thin, bearded man in beggar's robes with a fan in one hand and a jug in the other.  Momentarily startled, by the suddenness of the apparition's presence, he was caught off guard by a smack on the forehead and face from the man's closed-shut fan.  "Why are you out looking for trouble!  You don't have enough trouble yet, you have to go take other people's trouble for your own?!  Peh!  Who you think you are, Dragon Fighter Lohan?"  The old spirit takes a long swig from the bottle in his hand and begins to chuckle.

Before accompanying Switchback and Ghost into Vanians, Umberto grabs a few items from the wagon to take with him - slipping his medkit into a pocket, popping on his mirrorshades and earbud, and tucking his miniwelder under his duster with his SMG, which he double checks is loaded with ex-explosive rounds. Already two stiffs. And it's that kinda neighbourhood, neh?

He also "jumps into" the wagon for a moment and does a radar sweep of the surrounding area, looking for suspicious surveillance drones that might be taking an interest in Vanian's ... or them [OOC: not sure exactly if I can do this?... But I'm thinking: Radar sweep for nearby surveillance drones - Perception 4 + Sensors (Radar) 6 (10d6.hits(5)=3)]

Assuming he doesn't detect any, he informs his team mates of the result and nods at Ghost's suggestion of taking out any cameras they see. "If we see them first, sure. And if not, well, bit of luck Yuri take care of it for us, eh?"

Otherwise Jink moves past the open door and into Vanians, attempting to quietly take up a position behind the counter on the eastern side of the entry room... but not doing such a good job at it... He eases his smartgun out of it's holster as he does so, the overhead lighting finding little to reflect off of it's ceramic frame. Touching his flesh hand to his earbud, he tries to hear anything interesting in the northern rooms (whose doors are currently shut)...

Commlink @Switchback & Ghost: Try for quiet first, neh?

1st roll Perception check using hearing/earbud, 2nd roll using his vision/mirrorshades (10d6.hits(5)=3, 10d6.hits(5)=2)
Infiltration - trying to be quiet (6d6.hits(5)=0) - dang! I don't think this is a glitch though? Just no hits?

After picking him up, she heads towards Gibson Hall, going a little bit slower than her usual antics.

Johnny smoothes his jacket and straightens his tie.  He didn't know if Mary had made the ride speedier for him or if she just regularly drove like a speed demon, but clinging to the back of bike as she took turns fast and low was not his ideal way to travel.
Marlene leaves the bike a block away from Gibson Hall, and walks the rest of the way with Johnny.

"Nice place. Glad we're not slumming it. she says with all the sarcasm she could muster.

"Yes, it is quite a fine piece of real estate," he responds with a wink.

"I'll let you take lead, hopefully we won't need to use my muscle. she says to Johnny.

"Here," he says, handing her his great coat after transferring the contents to his other pockets.  "Can't have you going in looking like you're about to go all ghostly and rob the joint."

As they approached the dilapidated building's front Johnny focused his complete attention into taking every sight, sound and smell.

Perception tests
Sight: Intuition 4+ Visual Perception 5+ Visual Enhancement 3 = 4 hits + Actively Looking = 0 = Total Hits 4
Sound: Intuition 4 + Auditory Perception 3 + Audio Enhancement 2= 3 hits + Actively Looking =1 = Total Hits 4
Smell: Intuition 4+ Olfactory Perception 3+ Olfactory Booster 3 = 7 hits + Actively Looking = 1 Total Hits 8

@Jink and Ghost: "If we see em, we'll take them out.  If not, Yuri can work it.  And yeah, let's get in quiet, snoop around, and get out."

Switchback moves in after Jink, crouching down and keeping to the wall as he makes his way around the room towards the other door.  He stops there in a crouched position and looks around the room before listening against the door.

[OOC: His Ultrasound sensor is set to passive]

Infiltration test: 5 Agility + 3 Infiltration (8d6.hits(5)=3)
Visual Perception test: Intuition 3 + 2 Perception (5d6.hits(5)=3) + + 3 Actively Looking (Visual) (3d6.hits(5)=1) =4 total hits
Audio Perception test: 3 Intuition + 2 Perception + 2 Audio Enhancement (7d6.hits(5)=2)  [Not sure if it's a glitch. 3 1s, and a 2] + + 3 actively listening (3d6.hits(5)=1) = 3 Hits
