The suprathyroid gland, however, is 20F.

And you need a rating for the synthacardium and attention coprocessor.

Pen and paper calculator says you spent 4.25 to 4.55 essence, which leaves you lower than "2".

Well, 10,000¥ is 2 BP/4 Karma at chargen, so it's still cheaper than buying the skill itself.

Technically, it is, but because maximum resources are capped, the opportunity cost of spending 10,000-40,000 Nuyen to get a skill usually discourages me.  Get one skill at 4, or get synthcardium: 3 to boost all of my athletics skills by 3 dice, and get a reflex recorder to improve my primary skill by 1?  Even with a character that has Born Rich, Genetic Heritage, and In Debt, with move-by-wire, I still tend to shy away from skillsofts at the new prices.
