Sam does play by the rules and the gang would have no chance against a few well places explosives but in a gang war they would have a fighting chance would be able to fall i disarray and disband. More survivors and Sam would not have to pull the trigger himself.
He dislikes killing not the death itself,, as it is a natural process as is gang violence.

we have two matrix cowboys ad a car with a decent pilot prog so our legwork should take less the the trip there.

I shall not agree. You can always turn the new friends in villains, with you got a good plan. And then provide a new powerful friend to ensure the last friends will not bother you anymore.
