I could possibly allow changing specialization in combination with increasing base skill rating.
Eg. if you upgrade your pistol skill, you might also change specialization.

Change: reading further, after discussion with Kour, I think it's simpler to just forbid specialization changes. Once taken they cannot be changed.

New specialization is legitimate change in character developement. ie. Sooner, using SMG in close combat. Later he gets to plains and needed long range weapon, and after some time of use he respecializes for Assault riffle.
Survival in the jungle, who become tired of beasts and wilderness, relocates to Seattle. Soon hhe find his skill usefull in new are, and since living in urban has some specifics, he changes specialization from Jungle to Urban

it's a GM's decision not our, so do not get upset. or god forbid you exploding again.
And i thought Sam was the best one with explosives, but Sirch might just beat him there.

There is no time cost attached with specialization by RAW. Had you 4 karma spare to burn (not that much considering the amount you're getting per run). You'd be able to make specialized shot with heavy full auto pistol switch to taser make another shot and switch back to heavy pistols. all within single combat turn.

Secondary if you have any skill at rating 4 (bachelor degree) you specialize and make PhD. Then you change the specialization - you forget what you learnt and make another PhD in another area.

The specialization means you spend a lot of time training with the specialization area. Taking specialization is simple, changing habits, refocusing, when you've already mastered specialization area is difficult. Actually for the duration of the campaign, I am saying it's impossible.

but still the taser spec should not work at least IMO.

I agree that specialisations should be earned, that's why i am bringing this up only after completing 3 missions not after the first one, as this idea is a old one for me. the 4 dart Clip is like having a handbrake stuck on while racing.
