Adelaide reluctantly brought her head up, deciding she'd be unlikely to get much sleep for a bit. Running her hands down her face, then through her hair she said, with a poorly stifled yawn, "My name is Adelaide." She looked with a smile to her dear pet and friend. "Her name is Ashitara." Returning her gaze to the man seated across the faux wood table her face became serious despite the faint, inviting smile on her well-formed lips. "Please correct me if I'm wrong, Mr. Johnson filled you in on the mission?" She punctuated the question with a cocked eyebrow.

Tom watched Adelaide with a respectful interest. The pantheress demanded his full attention, and he was only too happy to oblige. "Mr. Johnson contacted me through our friend at the bar," He said simply. He gave a slight shrug as he continued, "He dinnae' include the details." He leaned back in his chair, folding his legs and leaving his empty mug on the table next to him. "Care to fill me in, 'Addy?'" He asked smiling,  leaving the new nickname hanging in the air to test her reaction.

Aideen looked up at Tom and smiled at the nick name he had given Adelaide. What a sly old fox... She thought as she was starting to like him. "From what we were given, the employer wants us to intercept the new prototype toy that is going to be transported in the next few days." She said while readying a link to send to Tom. "The problem is they are pulling a shell game on us, three transports one toy.  I am attempting to hack into their network to see what I can find out about the rout and the transport carrying our target.  Care to join me?" She asked as she opened a private network.  With two they might be able to sneak into the corp's network with out setting off alarms.

Adelaide chuckled; a move that caused her eyes to crinkle slightly at the corners. The tentative nickname he was ascribing to her amused her. She listened while Aideen explained the mission and nodded in approval of her succinctness. "You're quite pithy. I like that," she tells Aideen, with a slight tilt of her head, looking kindly thoughtful. Returning her attention to Tom she gave him a smile that sparkled in her eyes. "And, I prefer 'Laidey,' if you're wanting to shorten my name. I'm no good at navigating the matrix, so if you could help Aideen with that I'd greatly appreciate it." With that last statement she gave a slight bow of her head before looking him in the eyes again.

The two computer savy runners get comfortable and then meet up just outside the local MCT node.  fromt he outside it appears as a large building with waterfalls and small gardens dotting its multi-layered geometric architechture.  Hovering in front of and above the digital building what appears to be a large hologram of a woman in a business suit.  She welcomes the two of you and starts going on about some sort of new product MCT had just released.  The node allows free access by anyone who wishes to enter.

OOC:  We will assume that since both of you have matrix security procedures that you understand that this is a public node available to anyone who wishes to enter and get more info about the company.  it will probably have several more secure nodes connected to this node that will have more security and possibly the information you are seeking. Even though the security on this node is relatively low you realise that if you log into this node with a public account that the node will keep track of all your activities that you take to get into the tougher nodes later on. It is highly recommended that yopu create illigitamate accounts when logging into this node.

There are two ways of doing this.  you can probe the target or do a quick and dirty brute force hack.  The probing of the target can take several hours but it is much more likley that you will gain entry undetected.  This is an extended test between the two of you that will be hacking + exploit + 2 for hot simm if you want against the nodes system + firewall + the type of account you want.  each time you roll it takes an hour of your time until you give up or you reach the total required to get access.  Once you get the total the computer gets to make a roll to see if it notices you sneaking in of analyze + firewall and it needs to have enough successes to equal your stealth program to notice you.

there are three levels of accounts.  standard, security and admin.  standard is +O to the total, securty is +3 to the total and admin is +6 to the total.  The differences between the levels essentially changes the skills you use and how often your actions are likley to draw the attention of the node.

Quick and dirty hacking or on the fly is hacking is very similar in that you roll hacking + exploit +2 for hot simm, if thats how your doing it, against the targets firewall + the type of account you want. You can do this once per initiative pass and each of you should be able to get 3 initative passes every 3 or 6 seconds I can't remember which but you get the idea. Each time you roll the computer gets an anaylize + firewall roll extended test against yoru stealth and the previous successes stack with the current successes until it notices you.

Let me know which way you want to work.  Since I suspect with threading Nuadu will have the highest stealth I recommend he be the primary hacker on this.  Normally Nuadu would want to thread up both exploit and stealth and let a sprite sustain it for him however you dont have any of them registered and it would take you a few hours to do so.  although you are welcome to RP it to get more time to do so.  threading is software (electronics group) + resonance.  it takes no actions to do so and you can discard as many successes as you want.  after you roll you need to roll threading.

Aideen when you are assisting Nuadu or vice versa each of your successes gives him an extra dice to his dice pool.

Aideen looks over the site and turns to Tom "Ok Tom, what do you suggest?  I usually just jack a ride and go, this is beyond me." She vocalised to him while she scanned the site again.

OOC: I am going to let Tom take the lead, but I might suggest we take an admin account.  If possible.

"Laidey then," Tom said cheerily, turning to listen to Aideen's brief. "Aye," He nodded an affirmative before pulling a long red box from the inside of his jacket. Discarding his chair and sitting crosslegged on the floor against the wall, he placed the red box over his crossed legs and opened it. Several spindly medical devices emerged and a readout appeared in his AR. "Never be to careful eh?" He chuckled, winking at Adelaide as he connected himself to the medkit. "We might be while Laidy," Said Tom as he stretched his neck, "Open a channel if you need something." Tom closed his eyes, taking a deep inhalation before his body went limp, as if sleeping.

A figure made of white vapor appeared next to Aideen's toon. It's body was slightly transparent and seemed to fade before becoming solid again. As it opened it's eyes and mouth, light spilled out, coloring the coloring the ground blue before it faded to a bright glow, wisps of smoke falling from it's lips as it let go of a heavy breath. It turned to it's companion sharply, "How much time do we have?" it asked, it's voice a distant rumble, an echo, as if three people spoke at once.

Aideen shook her head, the public site would be the easiest to navigate. "If we do this right, all the time we want.  Do you think you can get us in, with out being seen?" She said while she ran through her inventory of programs, and setting them all to maximum.

Adelaide turned to the large cat she called friend. "Looks like we're on our own for a bit." She yawned and winced, reminded again of the damage she'd taken in that fight with the gangers. "On second thought, you're on your own for a bit. Keep us safe, kitten."

Ashitara purred in ascent and laid at the panthress's feet, facing the door. Adelaide smiled softly before laying her head back atop her folded arms to rest.

OOC: I am going to suggest a slow methodical hack.  We've got the time.

OOC: Hey, Joe? Please let me know when it's time for me to roll to heal more of my stun damage. I'm not sure how often it should be, myself. ^^; Thanks much. :)

"Perfect" Said the specter conspiratorially, the power in it's voice rattling Aideen's teeth. Its eyes flared white, bleaching the ground of color as Nuadu concentrated, tugging power from just beneath the fabric of the matrix, reaching into the threads of resonance flowing just beyond his vision. He grasped one gently and gave a small tug.

Threading Stealth 3 computer + 5 Resonance (8d6.hits(5)=2)
I'm going to thread stealth and sustain it, taking the -2 penalty on the hacking checks to get admin. With Aideen's help and taking our time, it won't be a problem. I didn't like this first threading check, I wanted at least 3 hits, maybe four. Nuadu lets the power fade (using none of the successes) and tries again.
Threading Stealth. 3 computer + 5 Resonance (8d6.hits(5)=2)
and again
Threading Stealth. 3 computer + 5 Resonance (8d6.hits(5)=2)
and once more
Threading Stealth. 3 computer + 5 Resonance (8d6.hits(5)=3)
Finally getting what he wants, he now resists fading, keeping the three hits and raising his stealth to 8
Resist Fading (3). willpower 5+Resonance 5 (10d6.hits(5)=4)
the damage would've been 3P, because the final threaded rating was 8, above his resonance of 5, but Nuadu is awesome and resists it easily.

The persona lifted its head, vapor emerging from it's mouth and nose. The area around them soon became covered in a thick fog as Nuadu's stealth program intensified, shielding himself and his companion from preying eyes. It's eyes beggining to dim back to their luminescent blue, the icon turned back to Aideen with what looked like a smile. "Shall we?" It said, flying toward the building and beginning to slowly pour through the cracks.

Beginning the probe, I'll roll my hacking 3 + exploit 5 + 2 for hot sim -2 for sustaining stealth + whatever threading exploit gives me + 6 (all of aideen's hits to assist me:
Thread Exploit: 3+5 (8d6.hits(5)=3)
More than enough, resisting fading of 3P
Resist fading 3P (10d6.hits(5)=5)
No problem. Final tally, 3+5+2-2+3+6=17 to probe. We'll work on admin access since we have time. Here goes.
17d6.hits(5)=4
Crappy roll. Assuming Aideen continues to assist me, add any of her successes to my own for the next few rolls.
11d6.hits(5)=5, 11d6.hits(5)=6, 11d6.hits(5)=4, 11d6.hits(5)=3
We crack it eventually, easily. Good luck hitting that 8 steath security team!

At the end of the second hour Naudu breaks in with admin access to the first node.

OOC: You can make 2 more healing rolls at this point Adelaide

You then need to let Aideen in by making her an account.  With Admin access this is a computer + edit 2 test with ether +0, +3 or +6 to the test total for the type of account. Each roll takes one complex action so it happens very quickly.  I chose not to roll to see if you are detected as they had no chance really to notice you.  the initial node only had 4 dice to notice you.  The other ones may be different though *evil grin*

The inside of the node looks like an incredibly spacious Lobby done in polished granite with large water fountains and waterfalls and office plants place throughout the set up.  Inside there are several agents who offer to assist the newcomers and there are groups of other users around the inside of the node having verious conversations.  Once inside you notice this node is connected with 3 other nodes.  This is represented by three large doorways leading out of the large foyer.  To the left of the entrance the door is labeled Manufacturing.  Directly ahead of you against the far wall the door is labeled office/adminstative and to the right is a massive door labeled IT/security.

Adelaide healing: Body + Willpower = 6d6.hits(5)=3

Adelaide healing: Body + Willpower = 6d6.hits(5)=2

Ashitara starts getting bored. She is curious about these two new people, so she decides to explore them a little. She starts with Aideen, nosing along the woman's waist to the gun at her back. Ashitara's nose bumps the cold metal. She snuffs in disapproval of the uncomfortable device. She makes her way up the fox's body. She tests the boning of the corset with her teeth. She approved of its sturdiness and moved on. The cheetah next encounters the hole in the fox's top. She sniffs tentatively at the opening, getting a feel for the thing. She notices the line separating the two soft things.

"Hiding thing?" With this thought she promptly begins nosing at dividing line, attempting to go deeper between the soft things. She doesn't have much luck with that as the soft things keep rolling toward her probing nose as she pushes. So, she takes a paw and gently pulls on one soft thing, pushing the other away with her nose as she searches the cavity for anything that may be hidden there. Finding nothing she pulls her head out from between the soft things and starts sniffing along Aideen's neck and under her hair. Nothing more caught her interest so she returned to a seated position on the floor.

"Good smell, but nasty cold thing..." Ashitara tilted her head this way and that as she mulled over her findings and decided she would need more time to figure this one out. She turned to the man. She'd already decided he was good, but she didn't get to study him as much as she wanted to earlier either...

The users in the node paid no notice as a man emerged from behind a pillar wearing a sharp business suit.  He adjusted his tie with a hand made of smoke, walking briskly to the reception desk. A badge on his chest proclaimed him 'Malcom Ridge: Administrator'. Smiling at the pretty receptionist agent, as it delivered a welcome message the ghost stepped behind the desk.

Nuadu quickly spools up an edit CF because he has none:
8d6.hits(5)=2, 8d6.hits(5)=1, 8d6.hits(5)=2
Looking for at least a 3...
8d6.hits(5)=4, 8d6.hits(5)=4, 8d6.hits(5)=2
Better, I'll use one of the 4s, rolling to resist fading:
10d6.hits(5)=3
Ouch, looks like I take 1s, now to write up Aideen's new admin profile, with my new 4 edit CF and my 3 computer. (oops, almost forgot the -2 for sustaining exploit, sustaining stealth negates the +2 for hot sim)
5d6.hits(5)=0, 5d6.hits(5)=2, 5d6.hits(5)=0, 5d6.hits(5)=2, 5d6.hits(5)=2
needs a few more, I keep writing:
5d6.hits(5)=2, 5d6.hits(5)=1, 5d6.hits(5)=3, 5d6.hits(5)=1, 5d6.hits(5)=4
Better. either way it takes under 5 minutes.

With blackish glow, the ghost produced a pen from it's suit pocket, simultaneously acquiring a small blank badge from a the desk drawer, and clumsily stabbing himself with the pin used to affix it to clothing. The Ghost let out a hiss of pain as a faint blue glow spilled out of his finger onto the desk. He quickly wrote a new name on the tag: "Rebecca Vulp" and flicked it into the air, where it vanished, reappearing in Aideen's inbox with a message attached, "The password is Foxxylady. See you inside 'Ms. vulp'.

The Ghost excused himself from the reception area, and casually walked toward the security door, taking a seat in one of the plush armchairs, settling in to wait for his companion.

Now I'll begin the probe on the Security node. Hopefully they'll have the info we are looking for. 8 exploit + 3 hacking + 2hotsim -2 sustaining stealth (I let edit drop) and adding on whatever Aideen gets if she assists. Trying for admin access so I guess: firewall+6 right?
11d6.hits(5)=4, 11d6.hits(5)=5, 11d6.hits(5)=4, 11d6.hits(5)=6, 11d6.hits(5)=1
Sweet. Some good rolls. Depending on what Aideen gets, We could be in there by the second hour.
