oops. Thanks, missed it.  I can tell this is going to be fun, keeping track of all of you. So let me mention a ground rule here:

If I miss you, let me know. My ego can withstand being mistaken and working to correct whatever I did.

By the same token, I'll remind I am NOT an expert or a long-term player of Shadowrun. If you see me making an error, speak up.

PLAN OF ACTION

Tomorrow (Wednesday) I'll start the IC and post a general situation. Thursday I'll "start game" with you all present with Mr. Johnson.

For now till general situation post you're free to table talk, do any planning, and even make minor tweaks for your characters (buy a hairbrush, pick up a few more bullets, whatever) till I post the general situation.

After I post general situation you're free to table talk but there'll be no more "free" tweaks. ON THE OTHER HAND, you can post any role-playing in IC you want to get to the meeting on Thursday, you can do some purchases, etc. Think of it as restricted sandboxing -- if I have to roll dice, I'm probably not going to let you do it.  (Exception. I'll let you summon and bind ONE spirit if you think you have time and supplies and all that sort of thing. If you non-mages have something of similar prep you want to do I'll probably let you do so.) No, I'm not telling you how much in-game time you have, yet. Not least because I'm doing final checks on the scenario.

See you all tomorrow.

FYI this my first pbp ever so it will take some time to used to.  Patience please!

My friends played a good bit of SR 2e in college so the 4e is a bit new to me. Only played 04-00 so far with a group of similarly semi-lost people.

I got asked privately, I'll respond publicly.

If you don't want to do anything before the meeting and just assume you're there on time when I make that post Thursday, that's fine. I'm doing the post tomorrow for two reasons.

First, so you all can start "playing your character" without pressure. A little chance to strut your stuff if you want. My experience at tables is that this little show lets the players get into role-playing a little more comfortably, so I'm bringing it to PbP as well.

Second, so there's activity. I will have dead periods due to holidays, but I'd rather keep us going as much as possible.

That brings up one more thing: Timing.

In general, I'm going to try to refrain from speeding through responses. That way those of you who are caught by work or time-zones or family dealings have time to actually respond. I'll generally aim for between one and two days per major action, but in cases of direct response may be a little faster.

The tricksy part will be if and when we go to combat turn play. When that happens I'll wait till everyone has responded (even if it's 'do nothing') OR two days, whichever comes first.

You are permitted to set up chains. Using an example with my technomancer:
"Run dives behind the table. Once on the ground he intends to drop into the matrix. He's going to tell his doberman to geek the mage first, and while it's doing that he'll compile a machine sprite."
Runt would not be robotically locked into this. If immediately after diving behind the table he discovers he's laying in a pool of acid, he can react and isn't going to dissolve while trying to compile a machine sprite.

We'll do some adjustment by ear, of course, but I thought I'd get those INTENTS up front.

I posted the General Situation earlier than originally planned. I'm going to be busy Wednesday and would rather not leave everyone hanging.

You may do your restricted sandbox play right away. If you've thought of some tweaking (pre-sandbox) and were expecting to do it before I started the IC, if you send it in the morning I can work with it.

The actual dealing of the game won't start till Thursday.

I suppose we should all roll for starting nuyen

Mean Boris is a squatter, so he's got 2d6 x20

Starting money x20 (2d6=4)

So that makes 80 nuyen. Wow.

Those intents would be posted in OOC, right? So either the player or GM (you) can relay them on IC when the time is there?

Rolls for starting nuyen: Starting nuyen for Low Lifestyle: result x 50 (3d6=15) Not a bad first roll. 750 nuyen to spend.

IC post later today.
