So I have an adventure in progress where the runners are working for one of the team's extended family. I'm sort of employing a non-standard device where the runners were involved with the run before they realized there was danger. So the family member, after being pressured by the related runner asks the runners what sort of compensation they think fair for their aid.

Knowing that the Johnson is a magician and enchanter of some standing within the Tir, they went around the table each saying things "I don't know" and "Why don't you give us something you consider worth our efforts if we survive this."

I was actually expecting them to name a price for their services and was caught off-guard by this. None of the runners are straight-up magicians (the group mage is a burnout conjuring adept).

So I'm sort of curious what sort of things, one thinks a reasonably well-off enchanter might hand out to mundanes as a thank you gift?

Anybody have some clever ideas for this. I sort of want the gifts to be more fluffy than practically valuable to the PCs since their Johnson is not really familiar with how things typically work in the Shadows.

every Enchanter can cook up some Orichalkum. As an investment it's probably something like gold today. Ok, I don't want to start an economic discussion here. One can always sell a precious metal for a good and safe market price with no one raising an eyebrow.
We actually did this a while ago, however it took some convincing and explaining to the non-awakened less-educated team members.

if you need more fun, he could long-term bind a spirit with force equal to the team size providing the Guard power for 1 year and 1 day. No more glitching, hurray!

Yeah-

I had considered him handing over talismans from his personal collection by way of payment, but with the going rate of magic items, that felt like a lot of money without the characters properly appreciating what they're given. Another consideration to me was that if I were an enchanter with a legit business in the buying and selling of talismans, I'd be hesitant to hand talismans over to someone without a fair idea of where they might land.

Raw oricalcum actually sounds like a serviceable deal to me, actually...

Why not a paid vacation to the Tir? You know, see the sights, hit on the local girls, go to fancy parties, get roped into doing a run by a manipulative Tir noble, eat nice foods and so on.

Maybe he got burned on a deal and got some Industrial Mined Gold/Silver/Copper instead of Hand-Mined/Smelted, and can't use it for Orichalkum.

He's got all the gear to make some slugs (Coins with no images on them.).  The little "Jingle-jingle" of a little pouch just touches something primal that the "Clink" of a plastic credstick doesn't even come close to hitting.

Another option is maybe the enchanter has built a bit of a corporate stock portfolio for his future and could pay the team with some of these stocks.

And then there's always the 'favor for a favor' line, or making a couple introductions to powerful people.

Heheh... I could see that working. Make the actual in-game effect of that being a 25%-30%* discount off their Lifestyle for a month or two.

Hey, Noysh, any word on what the decision is?

*Enhanced digestion options (like Ogre Stomach) give 20% off, so I figure "free food" should logically be even cheaper.

Hey, Noysh, any word on what the decision is?

Still mulling it over. Stuffer shack coupons wouldn't really make sense for this NPC. Although, I will file the thought for later.

I'm leaning toward a combination of precious metals (because I think fencing that could be entertainingly troublesome) and connections (which will give me future adventure hooks and players the illusion of reward ;).
