Vanian may not have had friends all over, but as a long-established fence in Redmond he had favors enough to pull some pretty heavy weight, even if he couldn't pull it too far.  Vanian had caught closed circuit footage of a hit squad liquidating his pawn shop that evening and he knew that there was massive trouble hiding behind that.  He hoped he could wait out the trouble, but needed to be prepared just in case it found him.  Number one rule in the game is "don't get killed," so the call went out earlier in the day to be on standby should he need some muscle.

The three runners met up in a nearby bar.  A disparate bunch that would normally be at each other's throats, at least if they had all the facts, but they managed to get along well enough while they waited.  Not so much though that they weren't happy to jump out the gate when the panic call from Vanian finally came.  Crimson sped off on her bike and then approached on foot while Sundance jumped in The Major's van and rolled up to the front of the building, disguised as private security.

Alright, let's start this off right.  Everyone roll surprise. :D

Going to fire on Sundance as he gets out of the passenger side of the van.
Take aim to reduce distance penalties then long narrow burst. 7d6.hits(5) → [2,1,4,1,1,6,1] = (1) hit and a glitch.  I'll say the glitch is that he's alerted the building security for the apartment complex he's camped on.  Sundance needs to soak 11S.


Crimson had gone past the building and parked down the street.  While she was walking back, Kusanagi pulled up in her van and started to unload her drone while Sundance got out to secure the building.  As soon as he stepped out the door, he caught sight of a muzzle flash right before a tight cluster of bullets from a rooftop across the street and a couple blocks down.

Motoko, still strapped into the driver's seat of the van, leaned back in her seat as she commanded the van to launch her Steel Lynx. Wherever this Vaniain guy was, she had a feeling the Lynx would be just the thing to get him out of dodge. And then her eyes closed, as she surrendered to the bliss of her true home, her real world, the ebb and flow of VR, where the Resonance could always find her.

There was a shot, Crimson looked up, and she saw the gun, it had just appeared, they where in an ambush. ...Time to survive again..., she did not like this kind of surprises, but they where part of the job.

Not sure how you work it, butr as far as i know Suprise and first INI are separate, but if you use the same, just say so,  there is no big difference to Crimson any way
this BTW is a ini posting no action, yet, as we do not know the situation.

p.s. from the perception did Crimson see a place/'s where she could take shelter from this attacker, at least cover as i doubt she would try to shot him with a taser.

There are cars parked in the lot.  Should be easy enough to find cover.  As to the combat turns and surprise, you'll notice that you're on IP2 already since none of you could react to the IP1 action.  So, the assumption is that you've held your action from IP1 meaning you can go first in IP2.  I will need initiative rolls from anyone with a 3rd IP though.  Distance to target is 90m.

Sundance immediately whips out his ArmTech microgrenade launcher and returns fire, aiming to land the grenades on the rooftop behind the sniper so that he couldn't dodge, then ducks back behind Motoko's van for cover.

90m is medium range (-1) for grenade launchers, 6(agility)+4(heavy weapons)+2(smartlink)-1(range).

Target is 5m to the "right" (on the map) of the sniper. Both are chemical splash grenades, which are 10m radius for 10S contact toxin at the end of the combat turn.


I split the rolls up oddly (almost forgot about Iaijutsu) but here they are.

Crimson intends to command her Bike to drive around the block and park in a range for it's UW-Radar to pick the sniper up or anyone else that is in the building.
Crimson herself takes cover behind the nearest car.

Sorry about disappearing.  My laptop broke again and I had to rip it up and beat it back into shape.  Anyway...
Kouryuu: Crimson should be able to handle that in AR easily.  Doubt the combat will last long enough for the bike to arrive durring, but having your ride nearby when there's an open firefight in Bellview is a good call.

Shouldn't be a problem yet.  I'll do the reverse dodge thing where his dodge hist get him further from the point of detonation. 11d6.hits(5) → [4,4,6,4,1,4,2,4,2,6,2] = (2) so he jumps clear of the first splash if I remember my trig ((7+2)²+5²)^½ >10m.
Returning fire: take aim call shot for +3 DV and fire short narrow burst on steel lynx.  7d6.hits(5) → [3,3,4,1,1,4,2] = (0)  Aaaand whiff.
Trying again for IP 3: 7d6.hits(5) → [1,1,1,1,6,4,5] = (2) two hits and a glitch.  I'll roll this into the previous glitch that alerted security and say that he severely underestimated the building security's response.

Mirikon, roll for dodge on the drone.




The First grenade spiraled through the air toward the rooftop in a long, shallow arc, bursting and spraying its payload all over.  But not on the sniper who just barely jumped out of the way.. just in time for the second grenade to splatter all over him.  Hoping to cut off fast pursuit before he fell back, the sniper took aim on the drone's primary sensor bank and fired, going well wide.  The second shot, less so.
