"The spell? A simple stun bolt, nothing fency itself, but due to this mana background turbulence, I put a little bit more force into it than usuall. I maybe overdid it, a little bit.

For the animal, I don't know. Naga is the only awaken and snake-like creature I have heared from in the daily news ... discovery channel. But with some luck, we found ourselves a scientist who knows more."

Lips points at the body, assuming that this too is a member of the previous team. And at least, the head was still in place. A goof sign.
"That means, in case she or he isn't dead by now."

The expedition member found here is Miao Jhong-Shun. He was the team’s paleontologist. Snake's poison is already flowing in his veins. He is conscious but his mind isn't clear. He mumbles something along the lines of " horrors, devils and demons, they killed them, they screamed".

Quote from: ooc
Medical examination results in assessment that he has 6 points of stun and 7 points physical damage.
Fractal, make an healing roll. Assume modifiers:
-1 implants
-2 poor conditions

The snake is taken out quite cold - it will take at least an hour for him to get back to consciousness. Less if you try to revive him somehow.
Sorry for a small delay ;)

While still preparing everything, Fractal congratulates the duo on their deeds: avoiding the killing bite and quick pacifier spell; but hearding about the possibility of an awaken snake, his sense of urgence calls for a warning: "Guys, how much time do you think this creature is going to stay having sweet dreams? 'Cause if it awakens and is truly an awakened being, then couldn't it arrange a way of getting out of this plastic bags by magic, or projecting itself?" Fractal has not a lot of understanding about magic, but one whing he sure does not know is a snake ghost creeping by his side and slinging spells at them while they are in another tricky situation.

He goes back to attend the unconscious body in front of him.

Fractal follows the instruction of his medkit on cleaning the bite and applying the proper treatment for the situation.
Quote from: First Aid Roll
4 (Logic) + 2 (Cerebral Booster) + 6 (Medkit Rating 6) = 12 dice = 3 hits, no glitch
-3 from the modifiers leaves me with just one hit (I had rolled this one before your post, Sent)
Using edge to reroll the ones that didn't hit (nine dice used before, minus the one that hit, so eight now)
8 dice rerolled = 5 hits, no glitch
Total = 6 hits
Taking out his plastic gloves, Fractal turns to his team members:
 "There's nothing more that I can do about it."

Quote from: Runner Current Status
Fractal
{Health: 0 / 10P and 0 / 10S damage, NO Wound penalty, No Stun penalty}
{Edge: 1/ 4} {Initiative(Meat/Matrix): 7/18; IP's: 1/3}
{Armor Vest: Ballistic Armor: 6; Impact Armor: 4}

you forgot to default the First Aid skill (it seems you got promoted for the teams healer :) )
which unfortunatelly turn first roll into glitch, and leaving you 1 hit like you said 12d6.hits(5) → [1,1,3,1,2,1,6,1,3,5,3,6] = (3) -> 1
you do however rerolled misses (one less due to modifier) 8d6.hits(5) → [2,5,3,5,4,5,6,5] = (5) -> 4

for a total of 5
you healed 3P, stun damage will receover over time, his mind however will take weeks before clearing
his current status if 4P and 6S, but for all practical point of view, consider him uncoscious. He isn't able to walk on his own.
Sorry for a small delay ;)

While rearranging the medkit utensils again, Fractal calmly talks to the others: "He will live, and he seems to be fine, but he will be unable to walk on his on for now. We should decide what to do with him right now. Can we take him back to the point where the Beaver is, so that Bob can send another drone to take him? I wouldn't be confortable about leaving him here by himself, or about taking him with us. It wouldn't be good for either of us."

Strange how things can be - once you carry your medkit around because your deeds are usually on the dangerous side of the curve; but then, on a two weeks interval, one saves two lives. Strange whele life can take you.

Putting the equipment back into back, Fractal rises again: "Well, there's still five guys more for us to find. I will be making a call on the next minutes; let's see if this coyote can enlight us on this tunnels".

That being said, Fractal calls Eliza Khanduri's commcode. Politeness and business-like modes are on.

@Eliza: "Hi there, Eliza. The name's Fractal. Sorry about the early hour. Miguel put me in contact with you. Here's the deal: Some mates and I are on a job in a place that falls under your territory; you know, near that Wuxing construction site. We are interested in any information you can provide us about whatever lurks on the tunnels from the old Aztlan sector there, and on the tunnels itself. We have a lot of jobs involving crossing the borders, and your collaboration and good will would be remembered when we need a good coyote. What do you say?"

"Okay, chummers, let's see if she answers; but by now, what shall we do with Miao here?"

While thinking about what to do with he paleontologist and the serpent, Fractal drafts another report and sends to his teamates for evaluation:

Partial report [Time]
- Coninued throught the lower level; we've found Miao Jhong-Shun; he had been attacked by some kind of awakened serpent (we haven't yet determined it's exactly species), but we managed to fell the creature and to save his life. He is in shock, though, and can't provide any useful information right now;
- We are continuing through the tunnels.

As he is preparing to move further into the tunnels, he prepares his tasers once more. No more bad surprises this time.
@Sam: "Don't get me wrong, Sam; I trust you judgement. But in face of the recent situation I believe I should follow closer to the lead - if we find any other guy needing medical atention, I want to be as available as possible."

Assuming this one is survivor
Omar loooks at the uncounsciosness body and points to the corridor further
I think that I will go there in drone first. I dont underestimate you, Sam, well this was close and we know nothing about danger that lies ahead. But first of all, I`ll decrypt this man`s commlink, lets see what data he got, possibly even smartlink informations will be stored there. Hold that report for a moment, Fractal, so we see what we can tell Bob.
Omar kneels, dives to VR, and observes Miao commlink`s node:
Comp.- Analyze(5)+Analyze(5)+VR(2) (12d6.hits(5)=6)
EW(4)+Decrypt(4)+MathSPU(2) (10d6.hits(5)=1)  :o
Quote from: ooc
I forgot its extended test, I`m currious if they are using advanced or common encryption
EW(4)+Decrypt(4)+MathSPU(2) (10d6.hits(5)=4, 10d6.hits(5)=3, 10d6.hits(5)=5, 10d6.hits(5)=4, 10d6.hits(5)=5)

@team > I think Fractal is right, i have been a bit out of my usual self, i am sorry for that.
Now to the meat of the deal, I think the faster we bring the snake and this plant exper out of the cave the better, so i would voulunteer to carry at least one of them to the surface. not only to the previos level,as we are not sure all the danger is eridicated from that level as well. If you wish you can move on while i am away, Lips here is quite capable, so i do not fear for your safty.  ;D<
Sam was sure he wants to help this man get better, and if the medics upstairs could get him well sooner they might get some information out of him that could help the team here as well. he was sure he could outrun any danger on the way back the only thing he had to fear was the team getting in trouble, but even that seamed unlikely.
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best and expect nothing!

keep in mind your almost 1,5 kilometers down the tunnels from the well.
Taking him there (effectively carrying) will take you at least an hour, and then half of that to back again and this does not include carrying him up the well and on the upper level.
Sorry for a small delay ;)

Lips takes a closer look in the astral space to check the snake and then the Miao, though Lips doesn't expect to get more information from the latter. But maybe he can answer the question, if that snake can do magic or not. Assensing: 5 hits

Going through the mumbleing, Lips comes to some concluesen, still not enough for a good theory, but...
1) Miao used plural, both for their attackers and for the team, hence, a group of enemies.
2) The turms deviles and demons could refere to those rat types. The first level had a lot of those devil rats.
3.1) Open Question: Rats usually doesn't cut of the heads...
3.2) Assumption: Both Miao and Tseng ran away, Tseng was found by a group a organ smugglers who use this tunnel, who toke everything valuable from him.

To check his second point, Lips takes a closer forensic look at Miao, specially to check to rat bits or other injuries except for the obvious snake bits. Forensic: 3 hits

Quote from: ooc
• snake is stunned
• snake is Awakened.
• snake does not have cyberware
• you'll recognize the aura if you see it again
• his essence is the same as yours (6) while he is weaker in Magic (4)
• there is a lingerin astral signature on him (yours, after the stunbolt spell)

To check his second point, Lips takes a closer forensic look at Miao, specially to check to rat bits or other injuries except for the obvious snake bits. Forensic: 3 hits

There is no rat cuts on him, his cloths are torn and mudded and wet, his hands are bleeding as if he crawled in darkness or fell or both. He has been bit in the right foot.
Sorry for a small delay ;)

Stand back up, from his investigation of Miao, Lips tells the rest: "At least we can rule out devil or demon rats as couse of trouble."

Back to the discussion, what to do next: "Omar, didn't you have some duct tabe from the construction side? If so, I would suggest that we gag and somehow bind the snake, put it into one of the body bags and hang it to the tunnel ceiling somewhere. It is magical, so it might not stop it of free itself, but like to be far away from it, we it wakes up.
As to Mr. Jhong-Shun, we can't leave him here, but we neither have the time to go back nor risk someone goes back alone. Hence, the only save option, I would say, is to carry him with us, until we find somewhere save."

"then in the middle of the group" Sounds Sam's voice "that would be the safes place as we can not be sure we wont be attacked from behind, we left the other side unexplored."

"Yes, I guess we should carry him with us; the thing is that he will slow us down and put us in danger; and if we find the others on the same state, we won't have enough hands to carry them all to the surface later."
"Lips, you did fell that snake when you were projecting, haven't you? Can't this beast do the same? Follow us out of it's body and sling it's mojo?"

Fractal is eager to continue their route, but is concerned about being ambushed by an already fallen thread, and one he could not defend from.
